Active Jehovah's Witnesses - - - PLEASE READ
by nicolaou inan open letter to all jehovah's witnesses.
dear friend, .
what caused you to come and read the posts of so many of your former brothers and sisters who have either been disfellowshipped or have chosen to walk away from the society and the 'truth'?

Circuit Assembly Report and other observations
by truthseeker inhi, it's been a while since i posted.. circuit assembly program 2003-2004.

A few years ago at the DA, I remember that on the first day, they didn't even have the actual people coming up for experiences, or even re-enactments. All they did is have an elder tell experiences from they're own congregations.

I agree with dusty here. In fact, I would say that very few even believe that wts has predicted 2034 to be when Armagueddon comes. I haven't heard a single thing about the Noah/120 years/1914+120 = 2034 link from anyone. It's too early to determine if the org. is in fact attempting to make predictions, and by saying that they are pushing 2034 to be the date, we are playing into the wts' hands by spreading misinformation (feb 15 WT anyone?). If you want to prove the wts as false prophets, just look at 1975, 1914, 1874 or any other dates where it's clear they've attempted to predict something, and were proven wrong. Personnally, more articles, or parts from the wts making that link would convince me. Only time will tell.

Congregation is building a new KH
by dustyb inup front at the weekly tcs meeting they are commenting about how much money they've rose for the new kingdom hall.
but i was thinking about how they get all the money, and if i understand it correctly, they raise money and sell the old kh property and give all that money back to the society.
then from there, the society gives out a loan w/ like a 3% interest rate, and on top of that, takes the title to the kh and puts the kh in their names.

I'm just wondering, what is the wts' excuse for this "theocratic arrangement"? Also, to make things worse, I seem to remember (i was really young when this happened at my old hall) that once a congregation finishes paying the loan from the society, they take out another loan and the congregation has to keep paying to the society. Am I right on this?

NGO For The Advancement of The Truth In Certain Countries?
by Doubtfully Yours in.
since the wtbts isn't readily accepted in certain countries or territories, i wonder if this is one of the reasons they joined the un.
you know, to negotiate their acceptance or perhaps to promote stopping persecution in certain countries.. your thoughts please.. dy

Someone please correct me if I am wrong, however - I believe that the European Court of Human Rights is an arm of the UN itself.
growedup
I just checked it out. It's not part of the UN, on one of the websites, the link to the European Court of Human Rights is listed under 'Additional Resources' and there is a little disclamer stating that the webpages listed "do not necessarily represent an endorsement by the United Nations. " However, one would think that if they were affiliated with DPI of the UN, they could use that as an argument to get officially recognized by the European Court of Human Rights as a known religion.

They were embroiled in a number of legal battles in Europe and Africa that questioned the ethical and legal stand of the WT in issues of blood, family welfare and military. Having the recognition of the world's largest humantarian and human rights organization must have helped immensely.
I'm wondering. I was reading on jw-media.org website about some of the legal battles the wtbts have in Russia, and in their rebuttal to the expert's conclusion that the Jehovah's Witnesses are a totalitarian sect, they state that the government cannot impose any restrictions on the beliefs of the Jehovah's Witnesses because they are recognized by the European Court of Human Rights as a known religion. They say that the Russian constitution ratified in 1993 which 'guarantees to all religious associations equal treatment before the law', and that ever since the constitution was ratified, Russia also reregistered the Jehovah's Witnesses as a religion.
Now I'm wondering, would the wts being registered with DPI as an NGO have any influence on the European Court of Human Rights to declare them as a 'known religion'? I mean, wasn't the wtbts registered as an NGO with its focal point on Human Rights?

Just told a dub about the UN letter; the blind just won't see
by acsot ini just told a dub here at work about the letter.
when the dub told me i was on my way out of watchtower-land anyhow, but the blatant hypocrisy just floored me.
okay, so here's how the conversation went:

I agree with Doodle-v on this one. The UN thing was the issue that made me realize that something just wasn't right with the organization. However, in the past there were many issues that had been brought to my attention (for example 1975, the child abuse coverups), but they didn't really affect me that much, but those things still remained with me, and once I found out about the UN/NGO affair, something just clicked inside my head, and I started seriously searching for answers.

This is great stuff Farkel! How long have you been playing for, and what other challenging projects have you tackled? I'm always looking for new stuff, but I don't get to practice that much anymore because I'm so busy with school. I can't wait till I graduate, then I'll be able to get more involved into it.
