For approximately the last twenty years, I've held numerous Senior Executive level jobs in Engineering, Consulting, Marketing, and Sales, working for privately held and publicly traded companies in one of the High-Technology sectors. Currently, I'm a Sales Director for a large international Company. Throughout my career, my evaluations have always been outcome-based, results oriented, not based on how many hours I did or did not put in. So yes, I post during the week and the weekend, as time and circumstances permit.

I never posted anything on a message board (or chat room, etc) on the net until last year in June, and that was on MSN's politics boards. I had never taken a real interest in politics before, and so I really got drawn in to the discussions there, and the research links that users would post. I wanted to understand the issues, and why, as I saw it, the political process was so "screwed up" in this Country. After 8 months of very detalied discussions, I felt I've learned quite enough to have formed my opinions on the subject of politics, so I grew bored with it.
One day while searching the net to see if there was any news on the jaydubyuz, I found this site (two weeks ago) and saw that some of the topics looked interesting. I've been posting somewhat regularly ever since.
So, that's my story.

Freeminds ad on JW web site....Witnesses not too happy about it.
by DevonMcBride ini'm subbed to one of the jw only message boards that has google ads to help alleviate the cost of the site.
one of the ads that popped up was for freeminds offering old watchtower books.
this caused a stir over there.

Will Jehovah Forgive Your Sins If You Don't Confess To Men?
by Englishman inwhy is it that jw's insist that you must confess your serious sins to earthly men in order to "put yourself right" with jehovah?.
small isolated sins don't seem to matter much.
however, there does seem to be a finely drawn line that demands confession to elders.. interestingly, once that finely drawn line has been crossed that demands confession to elders, so too has the line of what constitues a disfellowshipping offence.. for example, occasional masturbation is just about one side of that line, do it while someone talks dirty to you and you've crossed that line and entered the disfellowshipping area.

A pertinent parable- who are you?
by Love_Truth inthere was this group of individuals, with backgrounds in diet and nutrition, who began to study the effects of food on the human body.
over many decades, they continued their study, along with publishing many books on the subject.
adherents to their beliefs believed the information so wholeheartedly, and believed that the effects of the diet were so positive, that they told all their friends and family members, neighbors, and even strangers about it.

P.S.- We have a few folks who feel insulted or offended by this parable. BEFORE responding, PLEASE make sure that you read and comprehend what was written, that you do not put words in my mouth when responding. Why? Because it's a parable, there 's both a moral and (somewhat, apparently) a riddle involved, and, if I make it any clearer, then it defeats it's purpose.
Here's a hint: If you think it's in error, then ask yourself what the outcome of each of those choices would be, and which group you are honestly in (it's not disparaging, it's simply your mindset) and make sure you don't jump to conclusions.
Hint #2: Read carefully- does it say that any group won't die? Or, does it say what the likelihood is, in general, that one group will have an average life expectancy that is lower than the others?
Thanks, and Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here's my contribution:
A man and his dog were walking along a road. The man was enjoying the scenery, when it suddenly occurred to him that he was dead.
He remembered dying, and that the dog walking beside him had been dead for years. He wondered where the road was leading them. After a while, they came to a high, white stone wall along one side of the road.
It looked like fine marble. At the top of a long hill, it was broken by a tall arch that glowed in the sunlight. When he was standing before it he saw a magnificent gate in the arch that looked like Mother of , and the street that led to the gate looked like pure gold.
He and the dog walked toward the gate, and as he got closer, he saw a man at a desk to one side. When he was close enough, he called out, "Excuse me, where are we?"
"This is Heaven, sir," the man answered.
"Wow! Would you happen to have some water?" the man asked.
"Of course, sir. Come right in, and I'll have some iced water brought right up."
The man gestured, and the gate began to open. "Can my friend," gesturing toward his dog, "come in too?" the traveler asked.
"I'm sorry, sir, but we don't accept pets."
The man thought a moment and then turned back toward the road and continued the way he had been going with his dog.
After another long walk, and at the top of another long hill, he came to a dirt road which led through a farm gate that looked as if it had never been closed. There was no fence. As he approached the gate, he saw a man inside, leaning against a tree and reading a book. "Excuse me!" he called to the reader. "Do you have any water?"
"Yeah, sure, there's a pump over there". The man pointed to a place that couldn't be seen from outside the gate. "Come on in."
"How about my friend here?" the traveler gestured to the dog.
"There should be a bowl by the pump."
They went through the gate and sure enough, there was an old fashioned hand pump with a bowl beside it. The traveler filled the bowl and took a long drink himself, then he gave some to the dog. When they were full, he and the dog walked back toward the man who was standing by the tree waiting for them.
"What do you call this place?" the traveler asked.
"This is Heaven," was the answer.
"Well, that's confusing," the traveler said. "The man down the road said that was Heaven, too."
"Oh, you mean the place with the gold street and pearly gates? Nope. That's Hell."
"Doesn't it make you mad for them to use heaven's name like that?"
"No. I can see how you might think so, but we're just happy that they screen out the folks who'll leave their best friends behind."
