Getting biblically educated while going door to door.

i now recall that i've had an unusual amount of run ins with pastors, preachers, etc, when going door to door.

when talking to others in the congregation they said they hadn't encountered the volume of these these guys as i had.

the interesting thing is that i ran into them while working alone.

I didn't encounter too many "pastors" in DtD, but occasionally I would have to deal with them and their church committees professionally.

I remember at one meeting I had to have with them, these guys show up in their vehicles, enter the building, set up table and chairs, the pastor asked

one of the men to open the meeting with a prayer. He prayed to his father, ended the prayer in Jesus name, and then we got down to business.

I saw no images, no crosses, etc...

I knew that their religion had been around much longer than mine. It struck me that WE had copied THEM. How were the JW's different? These were nice people,

good people. They were very pleasant in their business dealings. I spoke with their Pastor on several occasions and found him to be kind and mild.

No lightning bolts from Heaven struck me down. No demons followed me home.

The JW's tear down others. I didn't get that impression from these folks.

All the best to you. But take it from me, a former elder, a JC is formed when they (the elders) have already determined that a wrong has been committed. The

JC only determines your "repentance", if any, and then what "discipline" to meet out. You have already been found guilty.

I, for one, will NEVER attend this kangaroo meeting and will sue them, each and everyone, and make them sorry for ever screwing with me, if ever it comes to it. But that's just me. I am satisfied with never winning a penny in court and will gladly pay attorneys their fees to simply screw with them and take away their peace. I know for a fact the WTS DOES NOT stand behind them.

If its three elders, it's a commitee, and no matter what this "good guy" elder is telling you, a committee disfellowships by majority and the chairman of the committee is in charge and sets the tone. I would ask him why the need to meet with three elders? Then if the answer is a JC, ask him to put the request for the meeting in writing and the reasons for the committee in writing. Agree to nothing less if anything.

Jesus Christ vs. the "Faithful and Discreet Slave"

this is something that has always striked me as being odd.

most, if not virtually all jws i know give more praise to the fds(governing body) than they do jesus christ.

it can even make you sick sometimes to hear the fds being mentioned so much.

When I was first appointed an elder, two other elders met with me to ask me the mandatory question they get from the Society: Is there ANY reason why you cannot accept this appointment? At the time, there was no reason. I was thrilled. I thought i was doing the Lord's work.

One of the elders, an uber former Bethelite, CO wanna-be who couldn't because he'd had a kid, said to me as his patronly advice: It would be nice if in your

talks and prayers you gave more credit to the FDS.

At the time I didn't think too much about it. But it didn't sound right. Now I know why: THEY ARE ANTI-CHRIST.

Non organised ex JWs, why?

from time to time we hear that the ex jws should have organised themselves to a high level and that doesn't necessarily mean setting up another religion in opposition to the wts but some sort of rather secular organisation to carry out that task.

no doubt this lack of organisation plays in the hands of the wts who escape the nightmare of a highly organised efficient opposition.

the rough treatment of ex members in my opinion is intentional and aims at emotionally stunning them to pre empt the possibility of them having a clear mind with which to fight their fraudulent, cultic objectives.

after managing a successful fade, the long thread started by nvrgnbk made me think a bit.

up until then, i maintained a fairly hardline stance that the borg would need to d/f me if they really wanted me "out".

but then, i began to consider a few things.

Jesus is not emphasized in WT land. Jesus was compassionate. Jesus had a beard. Jesus hung out with sinners. Jesus drank. Jesus despised the hyprocrisy of his elders. Jesus wore sandals in service. Jesus was not concerned with image, with what people said about him, or by the outward appearance of a person. Jesus said you only needed him--- not any other man or group of men. Jesus got baptized at 30.

He contradicts their entire theology both by his words and his life. The WTS are anti-Jesus. They have duped 6 million people into believing they are Christians, and yet none of them want to be with Christ.

These guys are evil.

i reckon getting promoted in the "truth" means you are more likely to leave.. every mts and gilead class i have heard of have had people leave the truth.

is that just my opinion, or have you noticed that tooooo?.

Once you see the WTS sausage being made, you can't swallow it any more.

It was as an elder that I noticed how the Society treated the congregations: they were treated as franchises, nothing more. All business.

Also, the way people were talked about at elders' meetings, how the intimate details of their lives were batted around the room with so little care for the privacy of the individual,

the lack of boundaries the Society has when it comes to people lives, the unscriptural basis for appt. of men to positions, etc..... I can't speak for any one else, but

I could not reconcile what I knew of Jesus Christ to the way a congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses was run. And of course, the bowing down to the "slave" was revolting.

What injustice and abuse of power did you suffer at hand of elders?

how many of us suffered in the jws from a lack of justice, love, or abuse of power by elders?

how did it make you question what you believed or had been duped into believing?

would be good to hear experiences so we can bounce ideas off each other on how it freed you from fear of authority or otherwise.
