I called an old friend of mine the other day who is an ex-jws and now a devout born again christian. I was just calling him to say hello because it has been about a year since we last talked and before I could say "Hi Carl" every other word was "Jesus"" Jesus" "Jesus" "Jesus". I could not get in a word edge wise without him blasting me with "Jesus this" and "Jesus that". I just don't understand why JWs and BACs(born again christians) cannot simply just talk without bringing religion or the bible into the picture. Everything has to be about God, Jesus, Jehovah, or "end of the world". I am sick of it. I was simply calling my friend to say hello. I noticed ex-jws that convert to "born agains" are the worst. They become exactly what they complain the WT was to them if you don't believe in Jesus then you are going to hell mentality. I told my friend Carl lose my number and I will lose his. I am tired of the religious mumble jumbo. I will always believe in Jehovah and Jesus and try to live a good life but church and religion is just not on my plate anymore and I am so much happier now. I respect all people and they can believe whatever they want but just don't try and force me to believe it.

Bloody Hotdog I am sooooooooooooo soooooooooooooooo glad you raise this question. I have been asking both Born Again Christians and JWs this very question without getting a good solid response. Born Again Christians will argue you down and say a person that does not accept Jesus will burn in hell for all eternity. Then I would ask them what about Jewish babies or babies of Atheist will they burn in hell since they did not accept Jesus? Here I would either get a question for an answer or they will totally get off the topic. I just do not understand any born again christian parent or JWs parent that have children and know the love a parent have for their children and believe in such a cruel and blasphemous doctrine. I just don't get it. If Jehovah and Jesus are so bent on killing babies then maybe they are not the God we have been made to believe. That is why I just cannot accept the hellfire doctrine. Thank you so much for bringing up this topic I thought I was the only one that felt like this. I get alot of flack from born agains when I challenge them on this subject. And like some of the previous posters mentioned do not criticize the WT but criticize the logic from the bible. Because believe it or not your mother can take you criticizing the bible but don't criticize the WT society. Your mother sounds exactly like my JW mom who has been a JW for almost 50 years. Good luck.

I have a question for born agains and jws. When Jesus ask Jehovah to forgive the men who killed him are they in heaven?
by booker-t inthis question gets people defensive because they have to question they own belief system.
born agains and jws always claim to follow the bible 100% but when this question comes up i always get silence from both groups.
because in the bible jesus says whatever he ask the father i will be granted.

This question gets people defensive because they have to question they own belief system. Born Agains and Jws always claim to follow the bible 100% but when this question comes up I always get silence from both groups. Because in the Bible Jesus says whatever he ask the father I will be granted. Now the question comes to mind why would Jehovah reserrect the murderers of his beloved son? Because Jesus says "Father forgive them" so killing Jesus guarentees a person a spot in heaven or paradise earth? Come on this is so bogus and unfair if Jehovah will allow these to get a reward for killing Jesus. Born Agains have a harder time to explain this with their Heaven or Hell doctrine. Because born agains believe either you go to heaven or hell period. So if Jesus granted his killers forgiveness then they have to be in heaven without accepting Jesus as their savior. Born Agains go into a freenzy on this point. JWs say in the reserrection they will have to learn the truth and accept Jesus before they can get everlasting life. But Jesus says "father forgive them" if Jesus forgives you there should be no test involved you just made it. I am beginning to believe in what some of the critics of the bible say and feel that some parts of the bible just does not make sense. This does not shake my believe in Jehovah ad Jesus I just wonder about the Bible as a whole.

I am confused by the "reserrection" doctrine. Who will be raised first Old testament people or people who die right before Armaggeddon?
by booker-t ini have always wondered who will be raised first people such as noah, job, enoch, etc; or people who die right before armaggeddon?
if noah, job, are raised first would not they be terrified with all of the modern inventions they will see such as cars, airplanes, clothes, watches, tvs, radios, and all of the modern technologies.
also, if people lived to 900 years back then would not methusalan be shocked if a person raised tells him they were only 20 years old when they died?

I remember when I was young aroung 10 years old I asked an elder this question and he told me Jehovah would probably raise the people that recently died before Armaggeddon to help Old testament saints to learn modern customs. I don't know but I am just curious.

I am halfway through my Master's program in Psychology/Sociology and plan on being a therapist/sounselor. I left JW's in 1988 and I have never looked back. I enjoy my life so much after getting my AA degree, then my BA degree, and now I will soon get my MA degree. I just don't know how I could help ex-jws that just won't move on. I read some of the post and some of the ex-jws just say the same stuff over and over again and this has been going on with them for 10, 15, 20, 30 years. In Psychology we learn a person has to move on are else they will never heal. I am not downplaying the hurt the WT. has done to many of us but at some point in your life you cannot let anybody have that much power over you. I too was hurt, angry, and disappointed when I left but I moved on. Some of you say the same old things year in and year out. All of that could go into positive energy such as go to school, learn a new language, travel, just live your life. I think many people on this website secretly is "addicted" to the WT and cannot let it go. Some of you may laugh but trust me in my field you see all kinds of weird things. Some women have been divorced from an abusive husband for 20 years and still get mad at the ex-husband for dating new women. Why do you care what the WT is teaching, or saying in their magazines, and what their DC are all about if you left years ago. I had family members literally run away from me when I got the courage and left the WT and I was hurt so bad by that but I have moved on. Bottom line is you will never heal if you keep up with the WT and Jehovah's Witnesses. For some of you it is an addiction.

I am totally confoused who is the Faithful and Discreet Slave Class?
by booker-t ini have been hearing and reading on websites about some "new light" jws are saying concerning the faithful and discreet slave class.
it sounds like the same information they have been saying for years.
i was always taught the faithful and discreet slave class is the annoited governing body members dispensing food at the proper time for the non annoited jws.

I was always taught the faithful and discreet slave class is the Annoited Governing Body members dispensing food at the proper time for the non annoited jws. Some thought Charles T. Russell was the faithful and discreet(wise)servant but came to a clearer understanding the slave class is a body of believers not one person. Jesus came and inspected all the religions in 1918/1919 and chose the WT to be the slave class. JWs have always equated the FDS with the GB. I do not see any change of doctrine or new light. Maybe I am missing something.

When I was in High School in the early 80's a friend of mine was a "devout" JW's and one day the elders announced the police found him hung in an alley. I was in a state of shock because he seemed so happy. I do not know if it was murder or suicide. I believe the police ruled it a suicide. His family feel apart after this. His younger brother hates JW's now.

Does 2Thes 2:1-3 prove some of the disciples gave "false prophecies"?
by booker-t ini have mentioned a few times on this board that my jw's brother just will not let it go with me and continues to prove to me that jesus disciples and other prophets in the bible have given "false" prophecies" or "wrong expectations" concerning the end of the world.
he feels that jw's should not be condemned for their many false predictions.
as always the first thing he will tell me is that "jw's admit to their mistakes therefore we are not false prophets.

I have mentioned a few times on this board that my JW's brother just will not let it go with me and continues to prove to me that Jesus disciples and other prophets in the Bible have given "false" prophecies" or "wrong expectations" concerning the end of the world. He feels that JW's should not be condemned for their many false predictions. As always the first thing he will tell me is that "JW's admit to their mistakes therefore we are not false prophets." He goes on to explain how JW's published all of their expectations concerning 1914, 1925, 1975 in the Proclaimers book. He even goes on to tell me all about Beth Sarim and how the WT has admitted to believing old testament prophets were to be resserrected in 1925. I have known about the three scriptures they use such as Luke 19:21, Acts 1:6 and now he showed me 2 Thes 2:1-3. Here he tells me that Paul is "reproving" the flock for believing in false prophecies and some of them actually "printed" in letter form the day of the Lord is here. My brother had a smile on his face at this point because he said "see booker the first century christians printed the day of the Lord was here in a letter" so he asked me the question were they false prophets? I had never seen this verse before and I have to admit I did not know how to answer him. When did JW's start using this verse to excuse their false prophecies? My brother made a very good point when he told me that apostates, ex-jws, and born agains always condemn JW's but look the other way when born again christians or biblical prophets do the exact same thing JW's did. Jesus told his disciples that none of them would die before he came again but all of them died. I sometimes believe that Jesus thought the end was going to happen in his lifetime. He did not know the day and hour. So by the same standard are we to believe Jesus is a false prophet? JW's said millions now will never die. But all of those millions Rutherford told have died. This is the same thing Jesus did but born agains and ex-jws will argue you down and say Jesus did not give a false prophecy. There appears to be a "double standard" when it comes to JW's and born agains.

I remember in my Kingdom Hall one of our 5 elders Bro. "Smith" had a gossipy wife Sis "Smith" who would be known to gossip from the time she enter the hall until she left. I don't know how she never was reproved or counseled for her gossiping. She would always have something negative to say about everybody. I remember one time a very elderly sister in our congregation was in the hospital with high blood pressure and I commented to Sis Smith that I missed Sis so and so because she was so nice. Sis Smith's comment was "well if Sis so and so spent more time in field service she would not have high blood pressure". I could not believe how unkind she was towards sis so and so. I now believe Elder Smith would leak info to his wife and she would gossip. Did anybody else know of a "gossippy" elder's wife?

Old time JW's did some very devout JW's refuse to eat pizza with pepperroni because they believed "blood" was in the pepperroni?
by booker-t ini have never heard this before until i read a life story of an ex-jws and how some jws in the past refused to eat pepperoni pizza because they thought blood was in pepperoni.
i do know some elderly jw sisters would complain about eating steak if it bled while cooking.
has anybody else heard of this pizza nonsense?.
