It used to be nice, in a lazy sort of way, to not have to decide what was right or wrong. You just asked the ultimate authority. But I don't miss all the constant guilt that came from not being able to do everything right. I love my life now and I'd never go back.

in some of the description given to the charity commission, they give care and conselling as one of the things they do.. any details appreciated.
When I was 12 my Dad found out I was cussing at school. His idea of counselling was kicking me in the ribs 'till he broke a few. However, I did get lots of care in the ambulance and hospital.
it was related to me this morning the society has instituted either a new or unofficial policy that congregations with attendance (not publisher) averages of less than 70 will be merged into the nearest congregation.
i know of one elder who will inflate his cong.
average to keep his "spot.
I think the more congregations close the better. My Dad's congregation was closed when I brought allegations against him because there was no other elder to take charge. Most of the publishers there have stopped being active because the nearest congregation is over an hour away. It's a poor area and they just don't have the money to drive that far. Maybe if they start closing congregations with low numbers, more people will end up dropping the witnesses.
They already inflate their numbers so I don't think that a few P.O.'s fudging it a bit more will make any difference.
when i originally brought up the topic about the 1961 green bible i wanted to write more about it but my computer went screwy and submitted only what i had typed in up to that point.. the one really whacked thing in the old green bible was, imo, what someone mentioned about genesis in the last topic.
i don't have one anymore..... (the society, i believe, is trying to hide their stupidity and systematically tried to get rid of them) but i do remember plain as day that, in that green bible, genesis' time period that it covered was 46,026 b.c.e to 1657 b.c.e.
(the ones after that just said: "in the beginning to 1657 b.c.e.
Can you believe I actually still have one of those butt-ugly green bibles?
Don't know why I haven't tossed the damn thing in the trash yet.
the watchtower, june 15, 2004 issue, pages 14-24:.
" for the benefit of current readers, the answer is reprinted on pages 29-31 of this magazine.
19 near its conclusion, the reprinted answer on pages 29-31 says: "does the fact that opinions and conscientious decisions may differ mean that the issue is inconsequential?
I agree with you lyineyes this "logic" has always been clear as mud to me too.
The GB takes a hardass view on everything else but on this they cloud up everything by making some things okay, some things taboo, some things concientious(sp?)matters...
I don't understand-why do they try to confuse this so much??
The biggest thing that I hated about the conventions was that I got roped into working at every single one just because I was a P.O.'s daughter. I remember back when we had lunch booths at the conventions. I used to get stuck in the kitchen in the hoagie assembly line for hours on end.(Of course they stopped serving food because it was more convenient for the "delegates"-HAHA) The last convention I was at I slept through the entire thing except for the drama and even those aren't interesting anymore.
hi all, just a little humor here to lighten your day.
here is a list of uses i compiled for the magazines, i posted these to another board a few years ago.

Thanks for providing me with a new desktop theme for my PC, Valis!!!!
i receieved this "poem" from some witness chick who sent it as a forward to myself and a whole bunch of other dubs.
my sister received it from someone else and i have other friends who received it from other sources.
im sure every young witness who has email has received it by now, and it's the most sickening, disheartening thing i have seen in a long time.
This is one brutally honest thread. It's sickening the way Witnesses allow themselves to be manipulated.
I get my husband to squish 'em. That's why I got married, bugs and broken toilets.
