In London lots of people take classes, you know, like ceramics or bookbinding or whatever. Aren't there lots of those in America too? In London these classes are heaving with women, many single and hoping to find a man. The ratio of women to men is probably about 6 to 1. If I were a man I would just enroll in a flower arranging class or something like that (you might have to fine tune it a bit to find the right sort of women for you), and then wait for the offers.

e-harmony....dot com......
by logansrun insomeone recommended that i give "e-harmony.com" a try.
it's a dating network that is supposed to be state-of-the-art and attract more intelligent people than your typical "nerve.com" jack-off fest.
it's a little pricey...$50 for one month!

Also, if you have children, they will be told for five hours a week that all non-JWs are immoral and going to die in Armageddon, which they will also be told is going to come soon. If this includes you and important relatives such as grandparents, this can be very tough on kids.
Sorry it's such bad news. But someone has to tell you the truth about this, and they won't.

Are You Thin Skinned or Are You Easy To Deal With?
by minimus inare you a bit on the oversensitive side or can you let things easily roll off your back?
-

Kind of both. I'm naturally pretty thin-skinned but I've learned to butch it out with a smile when I'm hurt. I'm not sure that's the best way. Others probably find it easier to deal with, but it keeps them from getting to be close friends. And if people don't know they've hurt you, they don't get a chance to be sorry (if they would have been).

The Worst Roomate (Part I)
by Preston ini?m not sure where to begin in this story about my landlord, however i am sure that you will all be entertained by my plight.
in the spring of 2002 i started dating a guy named bruce that we met online.
he was sweet, intelligent and employed, and we hit it off soon.

If this is really one instalment a week it's going to drive me crazy. I'm the sort of person who reads the ends of mysteries novels because I can't stand the suspense.

Holy Terror
by patio34 inhi, this was on the front page of the opinion section of the la times yesterday (sunday).
it's pretty interesting how religion could use some examination--even the us religions.
i highlighted parts and also put a phrase in red.

I do have a problem with his point of view. Not about religious extremism and religious conflict, his point there is obvious. But he's as secure in his assumptions about things like whether or not a foetus has a soul and evolution being a "fact" as the Christians are in the opposite direction.
An awful lot of people believe in the soul, and a prime cause, and think vaccination is dangerous, and have doubts about the whole superrationalist world view. These people are not necessarily religious fanatics or lunatic fringe. A lot of them don't believe in the bible at all. They are just people who aren't willing to take scientists' opinions as dogma any more than they are willing to take Billy Graham's opinion as the word of god. A little more respect for a different point of view on BOTH sides might leave some room for negotiotion.
I think it is unfortunate that the Democratic party is so closely identified with this superrationalist point of view because us more agnostic progressives find it difficult to get truly aligned with it.

I hope it works. It also proves that at least some Palestinians are willing to engage in non-violent protest.

Why this is not xjw forum
by kls ini used to wonder why with so many xjws on here ,or nearly xjws on this forum ,why it was not named so .
that way we would not have so many troll's and practicing jws come on this site looking for people in their own religion ( cough ) .
now when i see a newbie join and they are practicing jws ,i think maybe just maybe by them not knowing most here are out of the cult and they read the threads posted by so many knowing and knowledgable people on the forum ,that some may log off and actually think of some things that have seen.

And whilst at it, how would you handle your family who wanted to associate with drug dealers, child molesters, drunks, totally immoral people??
This argument is revolting, as always. Are you suggesting that everyone who is shunned falls into one of these categories? Utter nonsense..
If you tell people to be "kind" when what you really mean is "please let me say offensive things and don't object because it hurts my feelings", that's just manipulative.

Passive-aggressive
by onacruse ina sometimes too characteristic aspect of our human behavior.
in some ways, it seems like the db environment fosters (even promotes) such "liberty.
why do we (and i include myself) let ourselves devolve to what is imho the lowest common denominator?
-
myauntfanny
In my experience people are passive-aggressive when a) they feel they have no power, b) they really have no power, or c) they want to see themselves as a nice person, so they can't just come out and raise hell when they are pissed off.

It's true that Nambla is wierd because it publicly supports child sexual abuse. I think they are deplorable, they make me feel sick. But the fact is that there is a global pedophilia industry (for straights and gays) that brings in billions of dollars a year in profit. A lot of STRAIGHT people are not up in arms campaigning against this. People get on with their lives, and gays are no more "responsible" for campaigning against gay pedophilia than straights are for campaigning against the straight pedophilia industry.

I Could Care Less.
by Englishman inthe correct expression is i couldn't care less.. the idea is that you are trying to inpart total disinterest in what your opponent is trying to say.
so, you are so disinterested that you say i couldn't care less!
it's impossible for me to care any less because i'm already at maximum non caring.

How about "to all intensive purposes"? (should be "to all intents and purposes")
On the other hand, you Brits have changed "spit and image" to "spitting image", which makes no sense at all. I hope you will admit that.
