False Light....
by Bryan inthe watchtower bible & track society inc. says they are at times receiving "new light" from jehovah god.
but can it really be called "new" light?.
in 1889 the watchtower bible & track society inc. published:.

It should be noted that the phrase "new light" for doctrinal change has not been used in the publications for about 10 years.
This is a small victory for those who really do shine the light on JW teachings.

"No one becomes part of a group thinking that they'll be harmed," she said. "Our purpose is to show people the information they didn't have access to when they joined."
Sad to think how many JW children don't even get this chance.

We Should Go On The Offensive Against The Elders That Come After Us!
by minimus ininstead of allowing the elders to run roughshod over us, i think we should start thinking of how to get to them before they try to impose their will upon us.
some may not care if the elders and society suddenly went after us.
but just out of principle, we should not let them do anything they want to us in their shunning treatment.

Isn't the WTS offensive a bit like "tree house" politics? If you want in, you have to play by their rules. How do you rebut that?
What we need is a direct connection showing the WTBTS level directive to local elders. Then you need to show legal jurisdiction in religious matters. That's why the Anderson case is so pertinent.
Until then the elders will continue to play mob boss while hiding in the heights of "religious freedom."
Now the court of public opinion is a different story. A large scale PR campaign by recently DA'd JWs for doing "nothing" (inactive) might scare the GB back on their heals and have potential recruits running.
Warning to GB: Wholesale disassociation will confirm your cult status to the world. A shunned xJW has nothing to lose.

Issues with claiming to be TFDS
by Check_Your_Premises ini submit the following for your thoughts and comments.
making the claim.
the single most significant problem i have with the jw doctrine, is that they claim that god chose them to be his earthly organization, to the exclusion of all others.

Premises: Welcome and excellent points!
Has God ever chosen a "special servant" and made His choice known through the second means?
Not that I know of. Of course JWs answer that with the following (incorrect) logic:
1) God always has a visible organization
2) JWs have been blessed with growth from their preaching work
3) JWs don't fight in wars
And the clincher: 4) Where else would we go to?
#4 is critical because the other points don't hold water.
Try your reasoning on a JW to realize out that the s/he's been programmed to believe in an organization, and all other religions are false. So what if the FDS can be called into question, they are the "best of the worst." This is acceptable to the JW mindset.

David: I will not stand for your apologetics. That you think the JW cult is based in love is your opinion.
It is immoral to promote the idea that JWs consider it acceptable to associate with their DF relatives. Anyone who does this is liable for DFing themselves. The proof is in writing:
*** km 8/02 p. 4 Display Christian Loyalty When a Relative Is Disfellowshipped ***Relatives
Not in the Household: "The situation is different if the disfellowshipped or disassociated one is a relative living outside the immediate family circle and home," states The Watchtower of April 15, 1988, page 28. "It might be possible to have almost no contact at all with the relative. Even if there were some family matters requiring contact, this certainly would be kept to a minimum," in harmony with the divine injunction to "quit mixing in company with anyone" who is guilty of sinning unrepentantly. (1 Cor. 5:11) Loyal Christians should strive to avoid needless association with such a relative, even keeping business dealings to an absolute minimum.?See also The Watchtower of September 15, 1981, pages 29-30.***
w81 9/15 p. 31 If a Relative Is Disfellowshiped . . . ***28
Naturally, if a close relative is disfellowshiped, human emotions can pose a major test for us. Sentiment and family ties are particularly strong between parents and their children, and they are also powerful when a marriage mate is disfellowshiped. Still, we must recognize that, in the final analysis, we will not benefit anyone or please God if we allow emotion to lead us into ignoring His wise counsel and guidance. We need to display our complete confidence in the perfect righteousness of God?s ways, including his provision to disfellowship unrepentant wrongdoers. If we remain loyal to God and to the congregation, the wrongdoer may in time take a lesson from that, repent and be reinstated in the congregation.
***
w55 10/1 p. 607 Questions from Readers ***He should be strongly admonished, being impressed with the fact that by associating with the disfellowshiped one he is a companion of wickedness and that by his course of action he is dividing himself from the congregation to be with the wrongdoer. If after sufficient warning the publisher persists in associating with the disfellowshiped person instead of aligning himself with Jehovah?s organization he also should be disfellowshiped
Your comments are both deceitful and insensitive to the members of this board that survive the very treatment that exposes your lies.

How would you reply??
by chrissee ini have been fading for over 2 yrs and recently visited my folks.
(see my first post at http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/81356/1.ashx ) i did tell them when i got there that i would not be attending any meetings.
and they accepted it at the moment and didn't say much.

Peppermint: my thoughts exactly
Don't let Satan take you from Jehovah and us.
No, it's the WTS that will separate you, not "Satan."
Chrissee: lay low and fade unless you want to be DA'd. Thank your parents for their concern, but don't antagonize them either. They are programmed to reject if you do this. Why? It's like the "body snatchers" or something. Once you are labeled a "Satan zombie" their very faith in God is challenged.
Stay away from that trip-wire if you can.

Do you think of yourself as an apostate
by barbar inmany of the people on this site say that they are apostates.
but that is not the way i feel about myself.. i am not angry with the "witnesses" or the organisation, i don't feel that i wasted my life.
i just think that i was stupid to believe it for 30 years (well sort of believe it, i did have severe doubts on and off).
-
ezekiel3
Yes.
For many years I had a strict policy to keep my opinions about JWs to myself. Then I found JWD and internet apostacy.
Interestingly, "apostate" sites like this require the JW to reach out. There is no attack, it is voluntary exposure.
So this medium allows me to clearly expose JW-land while remaining cloaked to those who might have a knee-jerk reaction to an "apostate."
Hey all you JW parents who's son is an active JW: this could be your boy! Ain't that a trip?!

They're Coming to Take Me Away!!!
by prophecor inam i to expect with all the adjustments regarding new rulings of da'd & df'd all falling within the same category that there is to be a cleaning house of the ones who are inactive and are no longer meeting attenders.
i just got a knock on my door from a brother who's been trying to get me to activate my study and go back to the hall, though this time he seemed to have a new urgency about the situation.
is there something going on that i should be concerned about?
-
ezekiel3
Dont' worry, its just a fresh batch of cool-aid.
Just thank the sentient for his concern and make sure he knows how much you rely on prayer to make it through this system of things.

Could some-one please explain American football to me!
by Zep ini get all that stuff about downs and 10yards, and about kicking the ball through the goals and all.
but, having never played gridiron/american football, there is one thing i just dont get everytime i watch the bleedin' game.
i have played australian football(aussie rules) and rugby league.
-

I like to see once in a while Rugby and somehow american football because it looks very virile
FBF: love the accent baby!
This is an American speaking:
Football (named why?) has nothing to do with real football where people actually kick a ball throughout the game. In fact, anyone is caught touching the ball with their foot is penalized, except for the kicker who plays an occasional cameo.
Notoriously popular amoung gay-bashing straight men, the heros of the sport are all named after parts of the ass: quarterback, tight end, fast back, and wide receiver. The leader of the team will stare directly at the testicles of a man in front of him and scream for the ball. If the players get excited they will spank each other.
American "football" is a lot like American exercise: spend 1 minute benchpressing a hernia and then look in the mirror for 10, repeat.
Football is perfect for the typical short-attention span American, who will watch a play, stand up and scream, and then sit down and stuff face with hydrogenated fats. By the way, another form of American exercise.
Sponsers love the way the game is structured around commercials, and have actually made aluminum beer cans play the game as well.
Meanwhile the rest of the world ignors this sport and unites for a real "World" event involving feet and a ball, which Americans call soccer.
