  Palm Sunday - Hosanna!

  a former jw friend of mine said she felt so clueless about other christian churches when she first "got out".. i sat in my church this morning thinking of what palm sunday means to me, the beginning of holy week for christians around the world.

  I know a lot on this board don't believe in formal religions. However, there are some who do, and some who don't know much about them. A former JW friend of mine said she felt so clueless about other Christian churches when she first "got out".

  I sat in my church this morning thinking of what Palm Sunday means to me, the beginning of Holy Week for Christians around the world. I would like to share this, below. You can read other places online, or use your Bible to guide you. The people in the streets called out, "Hosanna which means, Save Us" to the Prince of Peace.

  What really happened on that first Palm Sunday? (1) Jesus the incarnate Son of God prepared to offer himself to Israel as their long-awaited Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6; Zechariah 9:9) and their King-Messiah (Psalm 118:26). He came to offer them not only himself but also the gift of salvation, to set up his kingdom of righteousness in their hearts. (2) Many responded to his offer, but (3) most of the nation rejected the Prince of Peace and his invitation of redemption, so (4) he wept over their future physical, emotional, and spiritual destruction. Because of their rejection Jesus had to finish out the week as the final Passover Lamb who willingly died for the sins of the world. But because of his death on the cross, his resurrection, and his Ascension into the presence of his Father where he now reigns as King of kings and Lord of lords, we see the greatest redeeming value of the events of that first Palm Sunday: Regardless of the political, religious, or social circumstances of our lives, the Prince of Peace is still inviting everyone to place their faith in him and be reconciled to God in order to enjoy the full peace of God!

  My first post---Boy do I need help!!!!!!!!

  i have been lurking here for a few days but decided i need to jump in as i need some serious help!

  i got into a relationship with a jw.

  i worked with her for over a year, got hurt on the job and was recovering for about 5 months.

  Hi and Welcome. Don't expect to "change" her beliefs; and don't think that she really wants to change herself, unless you hear her say that exactly to you. You will learn that most JW's hide the questions they have about the Truth...they learn to do that because it is the behavior they have been taught by the WTS. And I have to say this, w. her Mexican culture, especially...it will be difficult for her to be separate from her family if they are all JWs too. It is this blend of belief and culture that will probably make her harder to reach.

  Do be totally upfront with her about your reservations about this group; Do learn as much as you can.

  BUT

  Don't put your whole life into trying to reach her if it doesn't appear that she wants to leave their teachings. It will be a waste of your precious years, and can put stress on you like you wouldn't believe.

  This SOB should never have had a bit of freedom. Seeing that sweet little girl's picture breaks my heart. Seeing his picture makes me RAGING Mad...the face of evil personified.

  But what about the family who hid his crime? They had better be charged big time. Sick, all of them.

  Does anyone know HOW this dude knew to get to her room? He must have been watching her, yet her family says they didn't know him.

  my father is just going into have a heart catherization (probably not spelled right) and some of the elders are at the hospital and are going down to view the procedure.

  this neighbor is a registered sex offender.

  i think i've finally left the jw's.

  i have not been an active member since 2000, but always thought i would go back.

  the problem (or solution) has been that i started to reason on how the true god or super being really viewed mankind.

  Clare, Welcome and thanks for sharing your story. I esp enjoyed hearing that you used Simple Abundance, I think there are so many good Self-Help books out there now. That is a good one! And I like hearing that you still believe in God; so many here have turned completely away (I am not blaming them)..it is just refreshing to hear from one who is getting out and able to keep her faith. Stay around, your personal stories will help others, and vice versa.

  any insect that happens to wander through my place gets caught in a glass and thrown outside.

  now, last summer, a bunch of ladybugs decided to move in with me.
