we have been used to the idea that men are heads in households.
men, when they want to, can use their biggerness, strenght, and power to overpower the woman.. just what if......the roles were reversed and the woman were more powerful than a man?.

IMO, there'd be a ratio of women beating men as now exists with men beating women. A bully is a bully, after all!

i was 17 when i was last spanked.
it was the day of my high school graduation.
Can't remember the last time I was 'spanked' as punishment - my mum used to use the Wooden Spoon, as being able to discipline me so I felt it meant hurting her own hand I kinda got to like it after a while... sure, the initial sting would make me dance about a bit, but the warm glowy feeling afterwards was nice!
I think tbh, I needed direction and correction as a child. I was very willfull, and looking back, some of the things I wanted to do were dangerous, and only fears of punishment stopped me.
I don't feel abused by my treatment, even though I was hit in anger sometimes.

it seems that in modern times, it is not so much about what country you live in, as much as it is about the god you worship.
people within their own countries borders are fighting their fellow national citizen in the name of their god.
is this a sign that a religious war is coming or just an example of a ever growing populations growing pains?
I hope not. Wars traditionally were motivated by a desire to expand your countries empire / access to resources or perceived wealth. If it's not over quickly, eventually there comes a point where it's no longer worth continuing to fight due to the costs.
When Religion is the motivation, there is no point where a war becomes 'un worthwhile'. One of Accept's anti war songs put it well with the words "If he can't accept my heaven, then it's a mercy for him to die'. There is usually no compromise. It's convert or die !
IMO, religious wars have never left us- they've always been there, usually isolated, or at most on a national scale - I just hope one doesn't start on a global scale

in my area, in the last year, there has been six people killed in three separate accidents by someone over the age of 70. in two cases, the elderly people lived while the other drivers did not.
in one case the elderly person was killed, as well as the people they hit.
of the six people killed, two were children under the age of five.
My wife and I have discussed similar topics to this frequently, and I agree with kwin's view "I support the manditory retesting of all drivers every 5 years"
Let's face it - you're in control of a potentially lethal device, and in my mind it would be comforting to think that people could handle it safely, regardless of age. Yeah - it would be stressful, an inconvenience, and costly.. but if it made you more aware and a safer driver, then it would be worth the cost IMO.
I often wonder if I'd pass again first time !
