  .

  im really interested in starting to jog or run.. what would be a good speed to start and how far would be a good goal?.

  i know power walking is about 6k an hour, for 30 to 40 minutes but what about running??

  we moved nearly 2 years ago, quite a way from our old hall, and only attended our new hall for 6 months before we started to fade.

  so we have never had a elders visit and we didnt have time to make friends, so our fade has been very successful here.. the only problem is, my family dont know we dont go anymore, which is a problem when they visit, cos we have to get around the "are we going to the meeting when we visit?

  " we have managed to get around it one way or another .

  My question is how do we tell my family we arent going anymore without them giving us the cold shoulder.

  Obviously we cant tell them the real reason (its cos we think its a load of s"#%t ) We want to give non confrontational answers.

  Has anyone got any good reasons why they dont go to the hall anymore.

  were you one of the types who waited, sweating silently, till the last or second-last paragraph, then finally put your hand up and hope like crazy they picked someone else?

  Ellie, like you I never answered in the WT, nobody said anything to me. I think it was because I answered a lot during the book study. I just hated hearing my voice through the mike.

  My son was not gifted, in fact he really struggled in school but now hes having a real problems socially.

  the other day, my wife ran into a girl who she used to babysit for and is now 19 years old.

  i remember when this girl used to come to our house, she was always such a little sweetheart.

  she always kind of reminded me of a little doll, just tossed in the corner and forgotten.

  No you are not a sucker...........give her a chance she is far too young to go it alone.

  She could mess up, be prepared, but dont we all as we learn to go it alone?.

  If you dont do this you will always worry about if you did the right thing. If it fails you have nothing to be ashamed about.

  I would get in touch with any agencies that will be able to help her long term for her future.

  Do you ever feel guilty?

  after reading hs topic of shunning, it got me thinking - how many people have i hurt over the years by shunning, marking, labeling as "bad association"?

  when i hear the stories of my fellow posters, it really makes me regret how super rightoeus, guillible and judgemental, i was back then, when i had no real life experience or any right to judge anyone elses choices or mistakes in life.. i know i can't change the past, but i am sincerely sorry to anyone i shunned back then and although i know my family will never change their belief in the "troof" i will always make it a point to let them know just how damaging the practice of shunning really is and how it can even lead some one to suicide.. i am sure if i had put a bullet in my head when i was dfed their view on the "troof would be different today.. by the way they never shunned me.

  "family business" clause.. is anyone else guilty of this?

  I always tried to be obedient, I really believed that was how I would get salvation LOL

  Anyway I did shun a family member, for about 3 years but I must say it affected me more than him. So one day I phoned him apologized and have talked to him ever since. I dont see him often and it is a bit difficult sometimes, cos some of my family are in and some have never been.

  I am so glad I made the decision to speak to him before I started fading last year.

  My other family members know I speak to him some agreed with me and do talk to him, the die hards dont though.
