I was a 3 time little league all star.
I played centerfield and 3rd base (pitched a little too). My mom got the "truth when I was 9-10 years old.
My JW mom pressured me all the time, so I gave up all sports at age 13-14. I had a lot of potential (at least I like to think I did).
When I was in my junior/senior year in High School I was known to have a better arm than the starting varsity quarterback, he was in my gym class and when we played football I was the designated QB. I definitely got ripped off!!

I'v got to tell something this!
by voltaire ini've posted several times about how i'm fed up with the witnesses but my wife won't budge.
she's become a bit more tolerant lately, but mostly we get along better when we don't talk about anything substantive.
i've been working up the nerve to tell the elders why i don't go out anymore.

I'm assuming there are no children involved here?
That would make this sort of a no-brainer - start livin' la vida loca! -

What I never understood is this:
pre-1935, "Anointed" was the only classification of JW, whether you were 8 or 80 years old. Post 1935, whenever someone new made the claim of being one of the anointed they were viewed as replacements for one of the "originals" who had died unfaithful. Numerous WT articles make the statement that any of these "replacement" anointed would most likely come from among those who have served faithfully for MANY YEARS. Why would that be the case, if as I said, you could have been 8 years old and considered "anointed" pre-1935 ??? Yet another WT riddle. Anybody know if they ever tried to explain this? -

Is Dan Sydlik in his death bed?
by cyberguy ini recently heard a rumor that dan sydlik is very sick, near death.
does anyone have any more information about this?

Mr Biggs,
No, from my own extensive research into it, Bob Barker isn't one of the anointed. However, George Burns HAS now taken up his heavenly reward.

15 Understandably, this may be difficult because of emotions and family ties, such as grandparents’ love for their grandchildren. Yet, this is a test of loyalty to God, as stated by the sister quoted on page 26. Anyone who is feeling the sadness and pain that the disfellowshipped relative has thus caused may find comfort and be encouraged by the example set by some of Korah’s relatives.
F*#@king GB bastards!

Did you REALLY believe Armaggedon was coming?
by sleepy indid you ever really believe armaggedon was just about to happen?.
maybe to such a degree that you were scared or made major changes in your life?.

I had Armageddon-phobia. Through the WTS's constant guilt inducing, I never thought I was going to make it. My mom instilled this sense of urgency, she was a big watcher of current events as they related to bible "prophecy". I feel very relieved that it was all BS.

Post-Cult Trauma Syndrome
by FreePeace inhere is some interesting info from a website at http://www.refocus.org/postcult.html that may help those just leaving the wts to understand the feelings they are experiencing (and the rest of us too).
it is not about jw's per se, but it still applies.. --------------------------.
post-cult trauma syndrome*.

Thanks for posting this. A lot of us need to see that these feelings are not unique to exJW's.

questions about obtaining Higher Education for JWs
by AjaxMan ini have read a couple of threads the last couple of days that dealt with what you have to give up when becoming a jw.. most posts that i read said they have to give up getting a higher education.
my question is this: is that still a trend today?
that elders frown or discourage young jws from going to college or university by telling them to put kingdom's interest first?

Case in Point:
A friend received a full scholarship from a local
college to study to become a veternarian. She is now a freshman there.
Her congregation was just the host congregation so had the CO & DO visit together. The DO heard that this girl was in college full time. He came up to her after a meeting, and said very smugly.."oh, you're in College huh, let's just hope you find the time to pioneer". and then he just walked off.- Need we say more?

QUESTION: will the WTS ever fall? if so, how?
by badwillie inmaybe some of you who have been out for many years can answer this.. do you think that the flow of people leaving the borg has been increasing?
and do you think that we will ever live to see their complete downfall?
if you do think this is a likely scenario, how do you see it unfolding?.

I am starting to believe that we may live to see the WTS crumble or at least fragment into different groups, maybe liberal and conservative. When we were back in London, I had a peak at their December KM and it had a whole box explaining why their big expansion that they've been planning and working on for years has now been cancelled. Some mumbo jumbo about the "scene of the world changing"...and, "in light of recent world events" - obviously alluding to the 9/11 attack. The fact is, they are tightening up on corporate spending, and are downsizing. YIPPEEE!!!!
