That link is great Eman, really interesting. I will say however, that my point was that I NO LONGER question the meaning of life now I am not a JW.

meaning of life questions
by ballistic indo you remember those articles called "what is the meaning of life?".
there was almost one in every watchtower and books such as "live forever" had chapters devoted to the subject.
i think there was a picture of some lonely guy looking out to sea across a sunset with that typical witness depressed but joyfull look.. any way, i was thinking to myself after finding such an article on the web that i haven't been pre-occupied by such questions since leaving the borg.

Any way, I was thinking to myself after finding such an article on the web that I haven't been pre-occupied by such questions since leaving the borg. It's almost as if the "truth" left me with more questions than answers - and I was constantly pondering deep questions including that of life's meaning.
Perhaps the constant dwelling on the fact that life SHOULD have some clearly defined and eloquently stated meaning actually kept these questions near the surface of my sub-concious, instead of allowing myself to actually enjoy life for what it is.
I noticed a while back, many exiting the truth whether keeping their religion, or like myself, turning atheist were posting questions here such as "what is the meaning of life"?
What I wanted to know is, who else here feels that as time has moved on, they have become more satisfied with their lives and no longer search for the answers to deep and often meaningless questions such as this? -

WT's new propaganda on net
by Dogpatch inthe watchtower has all kinds of new propaganda about lies, manipulation of information, etc.

Here's a nice quote from the main page on their web site:
Is There a Sound Basis for Your Beliefs?
How can you minimize the possibility of believing a lie? Why, in fact, do you believe the way you do? -

does the bible condem smoking??
by master chief inthink about it if the bible says we must present our bodies as a living sacrifice to god and we must be holy because god is holy is that really possible, well i would say no and do you wanna no why "well im gonna tell you anyway".well think about driving our cars we r deliberately polluting the earth which god condems, and what about the food we eat which contaminates our bodies, which i think would really corrupt our bodies, and think about it we are imperfect according to the bible so how can we make ourselves holy.also imagine a jw has aids and then is prescibed a drug which can corrupt our bodies but helps the patient with his suffering (ie:ganga is given to aids sufferers to help them to regain appetite for eating)but i suppose that would be ok for that purpose.one more thing for the last few months ive been coughing a lot and i havent smoked for years but guess what i smoked a menthol fag today and voila my coughing dissapeared so do you think the fag helped to cure this problem mmmmm i wonder if that is a sin??

It doesn't say anything about smoking because it WASN'T INVENTED THEN.
Hey - do you know what? The bible doesn't say you can't stick a gun in your mouth and pull the trigger!
Let's all go and do that.
Anyway, who cares what it says? It is obvious smoking is bad for you.

Raymond Franz's Betrayal
by IslandWoman inthanks for calling this to my attention.
my reason for not wanting book material to be run on certain web sites is purely because of finding their approach out of harmony with my own principles and standards, so many are engaged in watch tower trashing and extremely negative.
some sites present material that promotes agnosticism and distrust of the scriptures, even atheism (one such site being in scandanavia).

Island Woman, I'm not outspoken around here, but I feel you need to think again about this.

Why are you here?
by teejay inokay, i know what *my* deal is.
i'm kinda stuck in a life that i really see no way of escaping.
a big part of my deal is that i was raised without a dad who walked out on his family and so i have it in me to be the dad my dad never was.

Favorite food at Assemblies
by finnrot ini hated growing up as a witness.
i hated the boring ass meetings where you could hear a pin drop on the floor, i hated going door to door and i hated not being normal like the other kids.. but the one thing i liked was going to the assemlies at the oakland coliseum.
i would wander around and find other kids to goof around with.

Sep 11th nearly 6 months now.
by ballistic ini seem to remember 6 months ago, an air of excitement amoung some of the witnesses.
slightly raised blood pressures and dilated pupils.
"this surely is the beginning of the end for real" and comments even here (what was it?

Yeah, I agree that whatever religion or atheist or whatever - those were pretty shocking events, but do you know what? I actually remember that feeling when I was a witness of almost drooling over death and destruction. It's almost like your subconcious which knows you are living a lie is being stroked by the vague possibility it could all be true.
