by thinker inhow is it that heaven came to be in the sky?
the hebrew word for heaven can mean "the abode of god" or "the sky, atmosphere, etc".
the bible has hundreds of references to heaven being up in the sky.. is it a carryover from pagan religions which had gods for the sun, moon, stars, etc...?

There's your answer rbaitz. To a jw, spiritual 'body' means a spirit, not a spiritually clothed body - 53 For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable...54 then the saying that is written will come true: "Death has been swallowed up in victory."
On the one hand they say 'spiritual body' means spirit, a named personage, yet to the jws there's no personage for the Holy Spirit - evil spirits however are different: they're very real to the jw.
It's all in their language - selective and altered meanings.

My JW Dream.....
by ThiChi inwell, last night i had a jw dream.
i was inside my home when i hear the door bell ring.
i open the door, and there was an older gentlemen offering wt literature.

They've shown you stuff that's beneath both of you - it's matter of fact to you that it's not from above and even the older jovy looks down upon it. He knows that what he has is beneath you and he places it below you.
But no matter how much you try and say, it doesn't seem to hit a nerve in the devoted (older) jw, he knows what you want and he is convinced he can win you over if he seeks things above. Your unable to bring them down to earth (be humble), and it disturbs you. However you do think that they may find something for you and you see that in the way he proceeds into the sky to find for you, to win over you.
Heaven didn't open though - he simply disappeared and left you thinking he may be back with the goodies.Maybe, eh?

I think that non_trias_theos did speak some truth here, at the beginning of the thread.
The organisation would not even give reading material to the homeless without first seeing if there was something in it for themselves.
We'll just assume they've got cold sandwiches.I've seen those lowlifes eating before, I know they've got sandwiches - they're alive aren't they - they don't deserve any better - a least not the sort of things that the pure minded like us do.

An important thing to consider;
'jehovah' is your god, not mine, you can have him, or it, or whatever.
The way the jovies tell it, he sounds like a real animal, and it seems pretty imaginary too, he never shows up when they say, or if he does it's invisible - are you sure it's not just an imaginary beast?Do you think I could maintain integrity and kneel to that thing?

"The Trinity" - My Thoughts

Three in the garden - let no man put asunder what God has joined - with himself - no longer two but one - and three persons.The JW philosophy can be seen not only in their words but in the way they consider God - as an 'other' sort of person who blesses from a distance - for them there is only two, maybe one.
