as i have never been to a church service ( except a wedding which i thought much nicer than our cold and impersonel talks) i wonder if they are as boring and repetitious as our meetings?.
i used to think it was me, that i wasnt spiritual or appreciative enough.
i was so bored.. we would have a talk in the service meeting about how some complain about too many meetings or going over the same stuff, and then promptly say it was our fault!.
Meetings=boredom
I can tell you that my 10 year old attends a local church regularly and would not dream of missing. She is so excited to go. The young program is fantastic. They do crafts, sing, teach through stories, drama, etc. It is a very loving accepting environment for her.
I have went to a few Sundays with her, to support her. The singing is great! The sermons are personable. But..well...just not my thing anymore....

i went to take my daughter to school today and right at the end of her line was a jw with her child.
seeing as i had to take my child to her line, i had to stand very close to her.
i seen her out of the corner of my eye looking at me.
I feel it is NOT done at all with love and it is a perversion of the very word.
I have had one freak hold his hand to his eyes to shield himself from me as he passed by me.
Other JW's are confused by the whole thing sometimes and look embarrassed when I say, "Hi! And how are you and your children?"
i dont know how i came across this forum but when i came to it i was so shocked of all the things being mentioned about the org.
i became doubtful of the recent decision i had made ( the big dip, which i kinda felt pressure to do but that's another story) also hearing about how jw are a cult really opened my interest.
so now that im openly informed ,im out in search of the truth behind the truth.
I also want you to know that new ones are coming onto this board now constantly, about one a day, the way you opened up your first post always makes me smile because I have read it so many times before, from other 'newbies', I can guess what you will say.
I started by questioning love. Love is THE identifying mark...I think not. How can they ignore FAMILY members? JW destroy families.
Then there was the ol 1914 generation change, done very slyly and quickly. WAIT!! um I have some questions...."NO, you are not allowed to question, just accept this new light and wait on Jehovah."

To JW's STUDYING means THEM telling you what is truth and you telling them back what they just told you, oh, but you can put it into different words, that way, it REALLY becomes yours. (shhh, it is really ours, but very subtly we make them think it is THEIRS)
