  How the F did they find out you cybered with a worldly girl, CRR?

  I was counseld for having sideburns a 1/2" too long, because, as the elder pointed out, I was copying Elvis Presley. It was 1997. Elvis died before I was born. This one took me by surprise.

  Shortly before I grew a goatee. THE 7 YEAR OLD KID OF THE VISITING SPEAKER ratted on me to his dad when I was handling mics! I knew I had that one coming.

  I was counseled for bringing my worldly girlfriend to meeting with me. Eventually she was baptized, despite how they treated her. But, expected it.

  Months & months later, an elder's wide saw us sitting "alone" together in a crowd of about 4,000 at the Romeoville Assembly Hall. She wouldn't relent until we sat with her family. Had my (now ex)girlfriend in tears, but that little qhore always was a bit of a crybaby. Took me by surprise.

  the thread about jael got me to thinking about all the biblical names i heard from witness children.. jael, barak, elisha, elijah, noah, matthew,.

  anyone else remember new babies coming into the world and being given "biblical" names?

  i thought it was hilarious when there was baby noah.

  my husband and i went to a party on saturday night for his work.

  and....some kid i've never seen in my life went up to me and took a swipe at my boys!

  Looking for advice

  i am not a jw but i am a business manager and one of my employees is.

  i want to be able to understand her better and be able to respect her choices but i struggle with certain issues such as sending holiday cards to company clients.

  she won't do so because of her beliefs and the clients cannot be neglected so this of course creates added work to those who are already very busy.. i am unsure of when to separate religion from business and am confused about why it's ok for her to take the vacation days designated for christmas, yet she can't cater to the needs of the business.. i do not ask things of her that fall outside the scope of her position and because of the lengths we go through to provide concierge service for our clients, i find that her religion is an out for her participation.

  growing up as a witness makes it nearly impossible to deal with the "world", as a child.

  constant pressure is put on witness kids to conform.

  most lead a "double life" out of necessity.

  Sweet will be one of us some day. I guarantee it. Anyone with the curiosity to peruse apostate sites and the audacity to join and post has the curiosity to dig a little too deep and the audacity to throw away a defective belief system. She's trying to convince herself with her reply, not us. As we know all too well Watchtower life is far from perfect and something she reads, possibly on here, will strike a chord and snowball into a personal revolution.

  I have foreseen it. It is her destiny...

  i saw that the aclu in pennsylvania was suing a school district for mandating that "intelligent design" be taught along side evolution?

  It used to be that the JWs said evolution had no foundation; that there was no evidence for it. Now it touts evolution as unproveable. "Well you can never prove it. It's an unprovable theory."

  I heard those arguments, and I thought to myself, Now where did I hear that kind of statement before? Then I remembered. All those detective movies/TV shows.

  Detective: ..And what a coincidence you just took out a $100,000 life insurance policy on your wife. What did your mistress think of that? And by the way, just where were you Wednesday night?

  Suspect: You say I have the motive, but what you don't have is a witness or a murder weapon. You can never prove I did it, Detective.

  And we all now, once the guy says that, he's guilty. The allegation is true. Intelligent Design is a PC term for Creationism. Atomic theory, plate tectonic theory, economic theory, none of it comes with a disclaimer on the school textbook. Why should biological theory be any different?

  i wanted to let you know that i told my mother i had found some information on the internet regarding jw,s.

  i was then subjected to 2 odd hours on the phone about why apostates are so wrong and how these people are typist's for satan.

  she put her husband on the phone too who went on a lot too....basically they wore me down and i ended the weakest again!

  Maybe you should be the one to back off a bit, until you get a little stronger in your beliefs. Then, when you're more sure of yourself and can refute their arguments a little better they won't be able to "wear you down" as you put it quite so easily. Just a thought, and welcome to the board!
