Were YOU Guilty Of A "Secret Sin"?
by minimus inthe witnesses know how to getcha to "do more".
guilt is their main weapon.
if you feel guilty over something no one might ever know about, the watchtower society has seen to it that even whatever you might have thought of or done in secret will be revealed.......were you ever guilty of a secret sin??

I had a secret sin, same as everyone else.
I just decided to take some bible advice and didnt let the left hand know what the right hand was doing!

Do you get emotional at work
by squinks indo you let your feelings show at work.
when i was a kid my dad said i wore my heart on my sleeve, and i do.
this always caused my dad distress "you just can't do that" he would say.

I am rubbish at hiding my feelings and so I don't bother even trying. Everyone knows when I am in a bad mood (ie today)- but equally they know when I'm in a good mood.
I don't like to cry at work, but occasionally I can't help it, which is horribly embarrassing. I managed not to today. Instead I got it out by slamming a few doors and having sarcastic conversations in my head - that kind of mental role play really helps (although some may define it as some sort of psycho disorder) and makes me laugh at myself a bit.

Funny you should say that. I noticed this last year. I have some apple trees in my garden and they smell really strong (especially when I don't pick them and they lie fermenting into cider on the lawn). I used up the last of them around September time and went back to buying them from Tescos and the lack of taste and smell in comparison was astonishing!

Elders disfellowship my cousin
by YellowLab injust a little background, my cousin is 38 and hasn't attended meetings for nearly 20 years.
then, a week later, another elder and the circuit overseer came knocking for the same reason, so she decided to go to the thursday night meeting.
then on sunday, she went for the talk, and was told she had an elder's meeting at 12:30 that afternoon.

now i understand what they mean by shephering calls for the "lost sheep". I am stunned by this story and grateful. Now i know exactly what to expect if I do ever get that call after being out 7 years.
They can't chuck me out again though sadly. But if i had "faded" and they tried this on with me they would get trashed by every law i can find and trust me I WILL find them.
trembling with self righteous indignation - so it must be ok - right?

Would you rather be a sports star or a rock star?
by Dustin ini was thinking the other day, if i could choose to be an awesomely gifted basketball player, or an awesomely gifted singer/guitar player; which would it be?
in the end i decided i'd rather be a rock star.

I may be being really obtuse, so forgive me; but what exactly are clove cigarettes? I don't think we get them here unless it is a euphemism for "gear". Someone please tell me - I feel I'm missing out here!

Wow Fairchild! That was really honest of you. I know so many smokers who won't admit to themselves the fact that they don't actually like smoking - that they can't stop even if they wanted too.
I started smoking when I was 16 and left the JWs mainly just to be extra rebellious. I stopped when I reejoined and the next time too. When I left for good in 98 disfellowshipped because I started smoking again I thought I would never be able to give up. Why? Because I seriously believed that I had only managed to stop before because I had Jehovah's holy spirt helping me. Well two years ago I read the Allen Carr book and gave up for 6 months and relaised that it had nothing to do with god's spirit which was a tremendous relief to me.
However I re started in a moment of weakness when drinking and gradually started smoking regularly again - regularly being two or three times a week when I will smoke about 20 with a few drinks. I tried again in Jan of this year using the book as my magic talisman but only managed 12 days before crumbling. I can honestly say I hate smoking, I hate people who smoke on sidewalks, I hate the smell on my clothes, i hate the smell in the house when I do smoke. I can even walk behind a puffing person holding my breath because I literally cannot bare it and then I can walk into a tobacconist and buy 20. I am addicted and torn between the comfort of smoking when at parties. The smokers are by far outnumbeered by the non smokers these days, so it means that I can abscond with a small group of one or two to smoke outside and feel more comfortable as I hate large crowds.
I am worried about the health implications, although not worried about clinging onto dear life into my 80s and 90s, as Walter said. I have no kids and dont plan to. One day I would like to be clean of it because it is a filthy habit like everyone says who doesnt smoke, but I can not stop for some reason at the moment. I can go a few days but eventually I will be compelled to open a bottle of wine and have a few fags. Which is exactly what I'm going to do when I get home. x
