How do you deal with JW's knowing they will shun you?
by JH ini went to the grocery store yesterday, and i saw a jw who was looking at me with a sort of sad face.
i said hello, and he didn't reply.
so why does he stare at me for if he knows he won't reply to me when i say hello?

I think that the way you describe is a good way to go, acknowlege them and move on, otherwise it's just their game. I remember years ago a young guy from another town was DFed for who knows what, and we didnt know. He came upto us and started talking. Other dubs who knew his situation saw this and came over real fast and told us about his status. We were incensed that he had the gall to talk to us!!
Now, well, it would be different. I am happy to talk to anyone regardless of their JW status. The x-dubs are blown away that you would talk to them, and are happy when they know you dont go anymore. They wondered when we would wise up. One guy said I always thought you were smart, but wondered when you would see it!! He was very happy.
Another guy that all the dubs avoid like the plague was in front of me in the supermarket. I walked up to him and said hi. He was stunned. He said "you know, in 8 years you are the first one [jw] to come up and talk to me"!! I said I have news for you, WE dont go any more!! We both just laughed and I said to him, I bet we could talk for hours!
When I see dubs down the street and they are making a point of not seeing me...and it is usually obvious, I love to say hello to them. Why not? I am not DF/DA so they should be happy to talk to me shouldn't they? And wouldnt it get under their skin? Wouldn't they get annoyed about it? Hope so. -

Conversation with friend leads to despair
by under_believer inmy status is "fading but still sort of in.
" i don't believe any of it anymore.. i just had a long conversation with a very old friend of mine who is "weak," as in he doesn't preach, and he doesn't make many of the meetings.
he still believes everything, though... he's just "weak.

Gary, that is the thing that is hard to figure out, why walkaways who are believing are so defensive.
I'd wonder if it is as this friend asserts, why he isn't there all the time. In JW speak, he is as dead as the rest of us, isn't he? Instead of listening and finding an excuse to be slack, the slacker judges the friend who is trying to lead him away from a big pile of crap.

Rehashed material. There must be no real writers, who are able to foretell the future there anymore. Since the denise of FFranz, no one knows how to come up with anything interesting.
Just people cut and pasting his old stuff. i.e Daniel book, isaiah books, creator book and that other one on god.
No imagination. -

Hi, welcome to the forum.
How you feel is how most feel when they leave. Do heaps of reading here, you will notice that. I would suggest you read some extra stuff that is available elsewhere. Steve Hassan's book on cult mind control, Ray Franz's books are well worth reading as is Carl O'laf Jonnson's.
If you are younger, it is better for you, you can get yourself a life apart from the JW's.
good luck. -

I didnt but my son did. He came home all upset. The reader told him that his father was going to die in three days. He got me to go to the doctors for a check up, but i got a clean bill of health. He fuused over me heaps, talked to me a lot, kept making sure that I was OK. Then on the third day, he kept ringing me all day, every 10-15 minutes. I was fine. When I got home he rushed up to me, hugged me, he was glad to see me. I assured him I was still OK. No problem.
I went into the kitchen to see my wife, she was glad to see me home safely too. I asked about her day, she had had a lousy day. I asked her why? She said that when she went to check our post box, here on the sidewalk was our postman......dead!!
Sorry, couldn't resist.
I have had my cards read, by a competent reader. If half of what she said turns out, it is going to be a fantastic future. BTW nothing about the world ending and only a small group survivng! -

Wow, what an interesting thread. I remember it all too well.
I wonder about the heating. I have been to DC's where they have them in winter and NOT turn on the heating, if the auditorium gets stuffy, they wont turn on the AC. This is all to save $$$. Donations for books, what about car parking permits? Suggested donation per day. If you didn't pay the suggested donation....no ticket!! We actually parked all day NO ticket...I owe them meoney!!??
The food at conventions whilst being very cheap to produce, must've made heaps of money. Volunteer [slave] labor, donated food stuffs, production lines, they must have made plenty. We all used to eat it like good little lemmings, no going for take out... then the food tickets, another double dip, dont forget to hand in all your dedicated cash at the end.
This is all done for TAX AVOIDANCE. -

Get`em while they`re young! (JWs, this is for you)
by Hellrider inshe is only 17, and she is having a "bible study" (watchtower indoctrination program) with a jehovahs witness-woman.
and, after chatting a bit with her here, i can easily see in her posts that she is a very young, naive girl, who knows little about religion, the bible, and probably life in general.
she is probably brainwashed beyond hope allready.

There is an organization in Australia called Bravehearts that have come out and are all for protecting the rights of young women 16-18 years of age from sexual predators who are 5 years plus older than them. Maybe they need to extend the web of protection to include religious predators too!!
