How many of you have food stored in case of an emergency??
by Lady Liberty ingood evening everyone,.
another topic here made me think of the mormons who are counseled to have a years worth of food on hand in the event of an emergency.
food, water, money and gas are all things suggested to save.

I really like Bobbi's post. If you go through an emergency just once, and you're cut off for several days, that's when you realise that you should always be prepared. I never stocked up until my neck of the woods was completely cut off due to a huge snowstorm, followed by an ice storm a few years ago. There was no power, no water and no heat. It was far below zero. This made me realise that anything can happen, any time, and it doesn't hurt to be prepared. Some people make fun of me, because I might be a bit extreme in "being prepared" but to each his own. If that's what makes you feel secure and comfortable, then by all means, stock up. It's not hurting anyone to do so and I think it's a smart thing to do. I store my dry foods such as rice, flour and sugar in 1 gallon jars that I bring home from work. It doesn't cost me a dime, and they would be trown in the recycling otherwise. The jars are dated for proper rotation. Being quite poor, I could never buy food for several months at once, but I did it a little at a time. Now I just go grocery shopping once a month and buy what I need for the month, and rotate. I have a dynamic flashlight. When it needs recharging, just pull the handle out and wind it up. I have enough food to last me about 6 months although you'd be surprised how much food you go through in a month. I always retrieve my seeds from the vegetable garden, so I have seeds for the next season to get my vegetables going. I also have chickens.

Angels
by Nazarene inhey "i am a newbie poster" and would like a running start here with a problem i have to solve.
a certain bible-reading friend thinks that her apartment is full of angels.
in last week's discussion of angels, i understand that an angel is only sent by god to certain people in order to complete specific messages from jehovah.

Well once upon a time, now nearly 15 years ago, I had to drive a bus from Las Vegas to NYC. While accessing the highway in Limon Colorado after a night's sleep in a cheap motel, I saw two men hitch hiking. I stopped and picked them up. At first I thought they were together, but after a bit of talking it turned out they just both happened to be standing there, they didn't know one another. I am a woman and not physically strong, and I tend to think about what I've done after my actions rather than thinking before I do something. Just as I was starting to feel uncomfortable with two strange men in my bus, the conversation died down a bit and one of the men went to the back of the bus where he stretched out across the seats to take a nap. The other one reached in his backpack and took out a book. He asked "Do you mind if I read a bit?" I said not at all, go ahead. The book he was reading was the bible. He read for a while and then he too fell asleep. He woke up about an hour later and asked me if I had seen the angels. I asked umm... what angels? He seemed very disappointed that I hadn't seen them. Trying to be careful here I said that I had been concentrating on the road, so if there were angels in the bus I probably wouldn't have noticed. He then told me that he was always surrounded by angels and that some people have seen the angels around him and watching over him while he was sleeping. Long story short, I dropped him off two days later in Indianapolis. He was a nice man, we had many conversations and he seemed perfectly normal to me.

Interesting.... of course the preaching work will never be done because then the end would have to come. They are preaching all over, but imagine that they really did manage to cover every little corner of the earth and had a KH in every country and every county and town, they'd have to leave at least one country untouched because otherwise it wouldn't be true that the end would come when the good news is being preached all over the earth.

You no longer need to be a JW to get into the New System..???
by OUTLAW inwhen i lived farther up country..i had a car load of dub ladys come to the ranch..i told them they supported an organization that would kill everyone but jw`s.thats what i was taught when i was a kid..they said "no",that decision will be made at armageddon..??
?..i figuered "theocratic warefare stratagey"..they were lying to me!.....i talked to my mom a few years later and made the same comment..she said "no,that decision will be made at armageddon.??
?.this is the person that taught that doctrine to me.i just rolled my eyes.more "theocratic warefare stratagey".that woman woud lie in a heart beat for the wbt$.....yesterday the subject came up on a thread and hillary_step said the comment is true.....hillary and i have been friends for years,he totally blew me away..i could`nt believe what i was reading..he said the change had been made in the "90`s".....so now i have some questions for those who are more up to date on this subject than i..hillary_step,if your kick`n around please chime in.......#1:when did the wbt$ decied to quit preaching only the jw`s would get into the new system?..#2if you no longer need to be a jw to get into the new system, why bother?..#3:dieing at armageddon because your not a jw,was a gun to your head to join the jw`s.what do they use now?.....this isn`t the same religion i walked away from decades ago..this,the un scandel, the generation change, blood factions now acceptable..the wbt$ is morphing before our eyes and jw`s dont see it..lol!

I don't know but I've been around JWs since the eighties and I was always taught that there is only 1 group of people that will be destroyed at armageddon, and that would be the group of people who know the truth (who are JWs) and who turn their backs from them or who are disfellowshipped. All other people will have a resurrection and they will have a chance to "do the right thing" and thus live forever. That's what I've always been told as far as I know. Wich sucks for me because I'd be in the losing group

Was it weird going back to the hall without believing?
Heh, not really. Would you believe that I actually didn't mind going at all.. I had missed the people and although I had to go to a different KH, there were a lot of people there from the old KH. I didn't really miss going to the KH but I missed the people. After all they had been my (fake) friends for many years. And once again the hall came with a bunch of default friends. Yeah I know it wasn't right and that's why I stopped going again. But I still miss my default friends. Pretty weird, huh?
When you say you lost contact with Josh, do you mean Tetrapod-sapien (the one that helped you with your book)? I have his email I'll direct him to this link so he can get in touch with you.
Yes, that's the Josh I'm talking about. My old computer crashed and all my email addresses that were stored in the computer and not in my hotmail account are gone. My old email address changed as well, so even if people who were in my address book wanted to contact me, they wouldn't be able to because I have a new email address now.
Glad you're back "in town", Fairchild.
LOL thanks Dave. Could you PM me your email address, it is in my crashed computer and my cafenero address is no longer in use so you can't email me there. Thanks! I hope you are doing well. How is the smoking going?

LOL each time the nigerian scam comes up on a message board I post the same link. It is a pretty long read and it starts a bit boring, but if you have 15 minutes to read through this, I promise you it will be more than worth your time. I have read this at least 5 times and each time I have tears rolling down my face from all the laughing.

Many people make it a hobby to bait the scammers. The above thread leads to one of such occurances. A man pretends to be a sexy woman and ever so skillfully he baits the scammer. It's hilarious and very well done.
