i have noticed many of the elders in my hall are now calling the wtbs "mother" from the stage during their talks now.
it happens at least once per meeting.
And they wonder why people think they're a CULT!
Actually, I think it will be incorporated into their everyday useage more and more as they continue to gain and keep more control over the flock. Who would want to disappoint "Mother" when she asks the children to drink the kool-ade?

all of us who grew up jw have heard this argument a million times: to have a close relationship with someone you must first know them by name.. but how would you feel if your kids called you by your first name?
instead of showing a closeness, it would be looked at as a sign of disrespect.
their calling you "father" would be the real indication of their special relationship with you.. so it is with god and so it was with those who considered the divine name too sacred to pronounce..
God's name is Art! Scripture proves it..."Hallowed be thy name who is Art, in heaven." Now go door to door spreading the good news of Art.

to the student of ignorance and fear mongering : regarding your proclamation of the end times.. the point is the select signs of the times of the gt as written in the bible could be placed well in any moment of human history.
for last 2000 years and even be placed with greater accuracy in the middle ages, so when someone reads information from apocalyptic religious.
cults like the jws who are trying to superimpose fear into people so they will react in the way they want them to react, hence it pays to analise.

the funeral will be held next monday, december 29th, at radcliffe crematorium.
I've been gone awhile and just logged on when I saw this. It hit me like a punch to the gut. I am so sorry. Not checking in as often I did not realize your dad's condition had deteriorated.. I had emailed him a few times. He was such a nice man...a truly great man that I am sure you are very proud of. I am better for knowing him. My heartfelt sympathy and love to you and the rest of the family. He will be reatly missed.

i was just sitting here, admiring a bulk bag of pretzel twists sitting on the table and it sparked a memory.
jws aren't supposed to eat them.

I never heard that but it makes sense, since it was some monks who invented the pretzel as some sort of reward for kids who took communion or something...can't remember exactly what they had to do to get a pretzel. I know that all I have to do is drink a beer...and sure enough I reward myself with a bag 'o pretzels...couldn't live without 'em.

the bible in my own understanding and others is just a gathering of ancient manuscripts of ancient mythology and of course written history,.
and nothing more, it documents well the history of human ignorance as it logicaly should.. nevertheless people seem to think its a connection to the spiritual world and the god of the universe.. why is it then that people separate that human ignorance of what mankind was living 2, 3000 years ago and then wholeheartedly.
take it as some sort of spiritual wisdom and truth, when there is so much real wisdom and truth coming out of are universities and collages.. maybe its a case of ignorance has no where else to go but to support itself from other ignorance.. the biggest sin may actually be not realizing and accepting are given human ignorance and demeaning of are potential.

men have always found it necessary to tie something around their necks.
And the popular phrase "necktie party" denotes a vigilante style of justice usually attended by crazed individuals who take the law into their own hands...NOT very Christ-like!
