hmmmmm....I became inactive at 23, re-enlisted (what was I thinking?) for another stint at 28, then got df'd at 33. No turning back this time.

30 that seems to put jw's at a cross-roads?
i've known so many who have decided to abandon ship at either the age of 30 or either after 30 years of being baptized.
i fall into the former category.

i posted this onto a previous thread, but wanted to start it on a new one as well.
as jws, we lack the "social outlet" all humans need, to have true friends one can speak openly and honestly with and not be afraid of judgmentalism.
what i've seen firsthand is that the "nucleus" of the congregation often has this need filled: elders, ms's, pioneers, and their families often do things together.
WoW Troubled!! I had the same experience as you and many others here.
As long as you are towing the party line, you can talk, and request help til you are blue in the face. Too often tho, help isnt forthcoming until elders perceive that you are leaving.
Makes me wonder if they ever took to heart the scripture in which Jesus tells how a sheperd will leave his flock to rescue a lost sheep.

Hello Ramona, and welcome to the board.
Thanks for your concerns, and sorry for the suffering you have endured.
Actually though, maybe you can address some of the things you mention here in an original post. (just select "POST NEW TOPIC")
We're just having fun with lifes embarassing moments.
Glad to have you here.

i'm new to this discussion board, so this may have been covered before.
i was raised in a jw family,(although i have been out for over 20 years) my mom and step-father are staunch believers.
being good jw's, they are against all "pagan" holidays, yet my mom took advantage of the boxing day sales, and my step-father accepted his christmas bonuses.
As a JW, I always accepted Christmas bonuses. In many cases it an employers way of "profit-sharing." No matter to me-$ is $. I also worked for a graphic arts firm which did production on a Skin Magazine. Printing is my field, so I didnt care. Just another picture!

an elder from my congregation visits my wife and i whenever he is in the area.
it has been a while since his last visit.
he used to come in uninvited and unexpected.
I guess that "microscope" is reserved for use against all but the WTS.
Hypocrites!!!!!

go to the hall and face the music or stay home and watch t.v this thought went through my head when an elder asked a sister if her husband was to embarrased to sit in the hall when they made the announcement what do you think?
T41, once I was DF'd, there was a brother-a Graphic Artist who had his own company-who refused to do business with me. I am just glad my he didnt own a McDonalds. What if I walked in looking for a burger? Would he refuse to serve me?
LoL,
