JW's have to be negative about life and the world around them because that is the only way they can reconcile in their minds that their god is going to wipe out 99.9% of the human population and leave them to clean up the rotting human bodies he left in his wake.

Obama - Peace & Security?

in one of the congregations that i attended some years ago, there was much talk that obama could be one to initiate the "peace and security" cry that borg teaches about...the brothers who speculated about this were convinced because obama was a well-liked guy...persons from all over the world seemed to have quite a bit of respect for him...hence they thought he'd be the one...obama is now in his second term, and no "peace and security"...did anyone in your congregation/area had this same view?.

Facepalm What do you make of this cultish email I just got from my JW friend? What do I say to her?

a bit of background: she is a sweet sister who has hard a really hard life: mum killed in an accident when she was young while once-an-elder dad was off having an affair after having been released from jail after serving time as a pedophile; she spent months in hospital after the accident which killed her mother; brothers jailed as pedos, ex husband left her cold with their 6 month old son- she's had a tough life and is a really sweet lady.

she's intelligent, caring, forgiving and articulate.

far too good for jws.. she 'brought me into the truth' as they say, and as such we've always had a pretty good bond.. now, after the gossip/slander fiasco of another so-called friend running around telling everyone i'm an apostate and not to talk to me, i unfriended my jw friends from facebook with an explanation.

Honesty

Get out and find some new friends, Julia.

There are tons of people who love their friends unconditionally.

You don't need the mental stress that continuing to dialogue with hardcore cultists is causing you.

no message, just deletes me from his friends list-- which is fine.... but i can't even *message* him.

funny, the bum of a bil just had his district convention in his home country, which he attended with his mother and father.

as you know, the peace-loving people of islam are seldom more peace-loving than they are on wednesdays.. what are your predictions, speculations and expectations for that day?
