Just be upfront with her, if she can't be sympathetic of your situation then let her know you'd rather not receive her calls. Let her know your door is always open if she has any other matters she wishes to discuss with you, or if she's up for a light chat. Vent away girl, I hope you feel better for it:) frog x

i have a sister who is not only still a jw, but she is nuttier than a fruitcake.
she calls me at work and at home (long distance) to give me a play-by-play of some real estate we are trying to sell--it's in escrow but tied up in legal bs.

would they continue and have the meeting, or would they leave?.

I'd like to think so, but sometimes it can be tough when you get bogged down with your own trivial affairs. Every little while I like to give myself a reality check and assess that I haven't become too self-centred. I've done a fair bit of voluntary work, and really enjoy it, but I've also come to realise that no-one does something for nothing. Even if it's just from the satisfaction of doing something which gives you personal meaning, or allows you to live in good conscience. I find myself feeling incredibly moved when I see people doing things for strangers that they don't have to do, but feel compelled to do. I think in general, most people are humanitarians, and are very generous on their own level. frog

Good thing your learning Tae Kwon do then! Although I realise it's more about self-discipline, but when you've got objects flying at your head perhaps it doesn't hurt to pull out a few moves in self-defence.
I spose you probably did attack him, but clearly this was just retalatory to the insinuations that you lead a lifestyle that will lead you to imminent death, which more than justifes your response:) frog

by CaptainSchmideo inmy mom tells me of a conversation with my mother-in-law she had at a family party a couple of weeks ago.. now, to set this up, let me give you a few details.
my wife's brother lives in another state.
he quit the witnesses pretty much right after moving out there, and this has been almost 20 years ago.

Sad huh. I guess we all know that our parents speak about us in this way. Always in sympathetic tones, never mentioning all the great things we're doing. I don't believe these old women so much, I feel sorry for them that they have this outlook on life, and they've thrown away their families for it, a very sad waste. frog x

That dude at the hall wasn't speaking from his heart, he is merely regurgitating what he has heard so many times before in order to justify the pain and loss they feel, and project it on to those of us who get sacrificed in the process. Blood is always thicker than water, and no amount of spiritual bonding will ever replace the bonds of family. Families a gift, it's sad that these people (and we who used to think like them) have forgotten this. frog x

Lost our Kitty...
by jeanniebeanz inyou remember about a month ago i had asked you all for ideas on how to deliver johnny cats medication for hyper-thyroid issues (which worked beautifully, thank you!)..
well, it finally happened... we took johnny cat in to the vet because he was having seizures.
it scared the crap out of us when it happened.. when we got there, the vet told us he had lymphoma and it would only get worse rapidly.

Oh no Jeaniebeanz your poor kitty cat:(...but it is better that kitty isn't suffering anymore. A good cat is hard to find these days, one with a really rocking personality, I'm sure kitty will be difficult to replace, but 17years is a good innings though, a very respectable age for a kitty catty:) rip kitty froglett

Ran into a guy from my JD the other day...
by Frog inhey guys, after my post uni exam blues on saturday morning (i was having a bad morning as it was) i walked out of building and who should i run into but one of the guys from the jd committee that ousted me back in may 03!...he was also my last b/study conductor.
i've moved states, and a fair way from the cong i was in back then, but apparently this guy has also moved here and is studying law at my university!
...since then (since saturday) i have run into him on 2 seperate occassions, including when i jumped off the bus this morning coming to university grrrrrr.
