are they not saying they added other to the scriptures
by booby inin considering this matter it is well to note that bible writers often took for granted that certain things would be understood, just as writers in our day do.
for example, the apostle paul states, as we read at colossians 1:16, that by means of jesus christ all things were created in the heavens and on earth.
but since we know from revelation 3:14 that jesus himself was also created, the newworldtranslation adds the word "other," which clearly is what the apostle had in mind.

Why are JW's afraid of dear old Ray?
by wobble inno active dub will read "crisis of conscience" by ray franz because it is "apostate".
now if it is truly apostate,in the sense of being scripturally wrong then the wt has had 20 years or more to expose it,same as if it is factually wrong.. if it is neither, then the wt has had 20 or so years to put their house in order,so reading it now, dubs should say "oh yea we've changed that,so no worries".
so why can't they read it now?.

Hi Mouthy, Are you talking about the Satanic ritual abuse thing? Or something else??? The SRA stuff is kind of hard for me to believe. Like I said in my previous post I only want to believe the truth. I respected what Barbra Anderson said on the conference call last time about veryfing things and not just taking them on someones word. Good advice. seek2find

While it may be true that Ray Franz may have had problems himself and was not perfect, the facts are that the issues he raises in CoC or either true or they are not. If they are not, wouldn't it be the best thing the organization could do to expose them for the lies they say they are? It's like I have told my wife, the issues I have personally with the organization are either true or they are false. If they are false, come get in my face about them, I don't want to believe anything that is not true. On the other hand, if they are true, then let's quit trying to hide them. It's like Joe Friday used to say on dragnet "Just the facts ma'am" seek2find

Jehovah's Witnesses and Child Protection ? Not. Check this Out !
by flipper inthese quotes and excerpts i'm going to post here come from the " jehovah's witnesses - office of public information " from their website as it was posted on 12/2/07.
my wife and i have a lurking witness friend who sent us this information as she is very pro-active trying to fight child abuse from within the organization itself !
so get your barf bags ready- you are going to need them to stomach this " official policy " garbage from the wt society.

Back in March of this year in my JC meeting when I was DF'd. I ask the question. "What does the Society have against the elders going to the authority's when a child reports abuse?" They said "We do report abuse where it's required by law" I said "how about where it's not required by law?" "What would be wrong with the elders reporting it to the police and letting them conduct a proper investigation?" They stated "confidentiality." When I told them that I understood that the elders were instructed to report abuse from an anonymous location like a pay phone they all 3 said "that's not true". Well it just so happens that we are in a non- reporting state so they wouldn't know about it. Because the way I understand it, the instructions were given verbally over the phone from someone in the service department using the "Child abuse tele-memo" form. Thinking about all the kids who have been abused down through the years because of this "confidentiality" thing makes me sick. seek2find

Scripture quotes on items not made by JW's is considered bad
by kitten whiskers inhave you ever noticed, or noticed it in yourself, that when you see a product with a scriptural quote, it was avoided, unless it was made by a jw company?
i remember my mom coming over and on a bag of potato chips, they quoted a scripture on the back of a bag.
she picked it up and said something to the effects of it being terrible.

Yeah, the only time a scripture on a non witness item is viewed somewhat favorable is when you're in service and the householders door or living room wall has a scripture on it. Then it's acceptable to use it as a conversation starter. Then later on when they take the bait, only then does it become bad. seek2find

The "only kingdom melodies" rule on Music is the sure sign of a cult to me. It reminds me of a piece I seen on TV about Warren Jeffs clan. They could only listen to music he recorded. I remember going to a witness wedding many years ago that had a singer playing acoustic guitar and singing the song "and I love you so" I thought that was so neat. Oh well so much for that. Since I'm df'd now probaly won't be going to any more witness weddings anyway. seek2find

Thanks for the info Jamie. I liked what he said about the translation of John 3:16 and "exercising faith" versus "believing". Good point seek2find

Did any of you have "secret information" about the Society you used to tell
by BonaFide ini used to tell what i thought was secret information that i had heard from bethelites and c.o.
's and long-time elders, things that i honestly believed.. here are two of them:.
i used to say that ray franz was invited to brooklyn bethel for the funeral when fred franz died, since he is his nephew.

Dear Bonafide, I never was close to any big heavy inside sources, but would occasionally hear such stories, and would swallow them hook line and sinker. I was "born in" third generation. Things started to change slowly in 1995-1996. I slowly started to see cracks in the watchtower walls. I started to see how everybody just accepted things because "we were suppose to be humble and submissive" and "wait on Jehovah". I like to think of it as sort of like a court case and some one you love like a family member is on trial. When the case first goes to trial, your sure your loved one, could never have done anything so bad, but slowly as the evidence begins to come out, it becomes more and more difficult not to accept. But when all emotion is laid aside, it's either true or false. I now see clearly, that the organization is just another deceptive trap, like a lot of others, to obscure the real truth. Just my thoughts. seek2find

If you were DFd: How did you feel at first? (for my book project)
by Awakened at Gilead ini am starting to write a book about survival/recovery for exjws or questioning jws... i hope to have an impact on the jw community.. .
in my first chapter, i discuss the negative effects of dfing and shunning.
the wts presents dfing in a positive light and indicates that jws should feel no compassion for those that have turned their back on jehovah.

It's been several months now and it's slowly getting easier, but I wake up at night a lot and wonder what will happen when I die. Will they have a funeral for me? All my family are still very much in and no one is thinking of leaving that I know of. Some days things seem OK others I'm very angry. But I think God is helping me cope. My desire is to do his will and stand up for what is right, and I'll give you a hint, It doesn't have anything to do with JWs or the Watchtower Society, sorry family, I'm NEVER coming back.
