my names mike, and i'm a university student in the uk.
recently i discovered a close friend of mine is a jw, and after she told me a little about the religion, i have decided to look deeper in to it, as i find it interesting and something which i want to know a lot about.
please forgive my ignorance as i browse and post in your forums.

My lifelong best friend became a JW recently. If only I had researched the religion properly before his mind conditioning really took hold, I could have made a difference. His lovely family is now torn apart and hurting so much. His sons have appealed to me for help, but I fear I am too late. Please study the organisation thoroughly.

for example there is no reason to believe that they (or anyone else) are doing a pre armageddon preaching separating work but to the contrary given their anti christ behaviour they are clearly not fit for this purpose.
so the end can't be near.

let's extend real christian love to dennis and give him suggestions on how he can get under the jw elder poztate scope and successfully fade out of the wt cult.
He or she found this site, so it may be a sign that he or she is willing to seek some answers. I have discovered so much irrefutable information in the past 8 months or so, when i a chance to show some evidence to someone, I don't know where to start.
I just read the last chapter of 2 Corinthians, straight on into the first chapter of Galatians (NWT) and wondered how a JW can not be see what it is saying, especially in view of the complete change to the 'everlasting good news' that one man (Rutherford) introduced in 1935.
Check it out Dennis, for your own sake. But only if you truly wish to serve Jehovah and obey the biblical command to keep testing your faith.

i just answered a question "off the top of my head" to a question which brought to my mind something that i heard at a talk at our assembly that has "bothered" me and i am hoping for some clarification as i would never want to be accused of what this topic is about .... .
it was a talk at our recent assembly that brought out a 'new one' for me ...or perhaps i just haven't heard of it as yet ... .
Isn't it so ironic that active JWs are apostates in terms of denouncing Christianity, and even renouncing fomer JW beliefs. In the Bible there is no such thing as apostasy against an organisation!

The best theologians ad Bible commentaries have interesting teachings. Nearly all scriptures have several meanings on several levels, at least four.
My own thoughts IMHO. There was the literal aspects of Matthew's (&other) gospel, the prophetic in terms of historical, but also spiritual, deep inner meaning etc. Much of the 'this generation' was indeed fulfilled in the generation of those to whom Christ was speaking. The stay awake stuff is most likely for us throughout our lives, we do not know the day or hour when Christ may come (into our hearts and minds). Our own Armageddon that comes at different times in each of our lives. There are also elements about the future end to our universe, when heavens & earth shall pass away - possibly millions or billions of years hence. But that may not be the end of our consciousness, though possibly in this dimension or universe.
There is no literal single event armageddon like fundamental Christians & JWs teach. Just apply the proper principles of biblical interpretation without denominational (or non denominational) bias, to get a little closer to 'truth'. We cant pick & choose what to apply literally and what metaphorically. Jesus nearly always spoke in parables, and used hyperbole & extreme exaggeration to make memorable points...pluck out your eye, faith can move mountains etc.

Nice people are trustworthy, and assume most other people are too. Some would call this gullible, and that is a real danger for trustworthy trusting folks. But many people, some of whom are sincere but wrong, should not be trusted or believed without being checked out thoroughly. I believe you can retain the good and innocent qualities without being gullible & taken fo a ride.
Just don't believe people, anyone. Not without properly checking out what they say. Be open and homest about what you are doing and why. Don't let them change your personality & make you bitter. Try to forgive & you'll be freer and stronger in the long run. But don't take my word for it...
i can't understand why they have put this ad up on this site, as it is only people who are not jw who look at this site (and others) so why advertise "meet single jw just like you on this site".
i thought maybe it was for single ex jw, so went into that site, and low and behold it was for jw only.
they were saying something like this "... we would like to say thank you so much brothers for this site as i have meet my wife/husband etc ....and thank you so much jehovah..".

Welcome, great to have you post here. Please do some research on the history of the organisation and then it will be impossible for you to stay in. Once you discover the truth about the truth you will have more reasons than your personal love for wanting to escape the hatred & fear. You will discover absolute proof that JWs are not what or whom they claim to be.
having only recently discovered this site and finally having at my finger tips [the internet is great] compelling evidence that the jw doctines are nothing but the work of men i feel a need to take action.
people i care about are still wasting their lives.
[1] i would like to see some "ready made" resource's that have factual evidence, well articulated, and formated ready for printing that we could use to help current jw's see what is going on.
I had breakthrough with elder. The back & forth changes for Romans 13:1 prove that of all Christian religions, it is not possible that JWs have Gods backing. How could Jehovah allow all religions except JWs to have the correct understanding, something JWs have now accepted. Just give them the watchtower references over the years.
We've got all the proof but how do you persuade a JW to look at their own evidence? 'm still working on it.

I think its remarkable that this whole cult was eventually converted and its leadership admitted it had been wrong and apologised for the years of damage done and prayed for forgiveness. An amazing story! If only Watchtower were next.
