Intro/Is it ok for me to be here?
by Sad emo inis it ok for me to be part of your 'gang'?
you see i'm not a jw and never have been and a bit of of me feels like i'm gatecrashing.. i was raised in a strong roman catholic family - i was expected to believe everything the church taught without question and i did.
when i left school, i found myself working with an evangelical christian who, because she questioned my beliefs slowly made me look into them for myself - i truly hated her at the time for doing that and admit that i made her life a misery in revenge - but eventually i began to see that some of the stuff she was saying was right, we became very good friends and my real journey out of the rc church began.. i was too scared to leave straight away because of the doctrines i'd grown up with - no salvation outside the church and you can only really communicate with god through the priest (big issue here was how do i get my sins forgiven cos if i don't i'm gonna go to hell) - it was another 10 years before i finally plucked up the courage to leave and this was because of two things that happened:.

I need to Obey Jehovah's commandments
What does she mean by this, it is the organisation's commandments, not Jehovah's. In any case, Christians were told to obey Christ's commandments. But then again JWs are not Christians.Thinking of you, try to stay cool & think before you act.

Jehovah's Witnesses-----A Racist Movement?
by minimus inplease contribute to this thread any way you wish to.

They used to teach God was a racist, didn't they? After the flood...
They published some pretty racist satements many years ago, about coloureds made good servants. And was it as late as 1970 before they did away with al segregation in the south? And what about how the faithful coloured folks would be turned white (perfection?) after armageddon? Just stuff I've read, but it may be inaccurate.
The one I study with is very anti-semitic, but then again he's anti everyone.

It does amaze me how all the hundreds of religions from JWs, LDS, SDAs, Catholics, fundamentalists and all their offshoots are so sure they understand God and the Bible better than anyone else. None of you have the true religion, because there is no such thing, in any one man-made group. No one understands the Bible, not even its authors. Who really speaks the truth? - the Judean Peoples Front or the Peoples Front of Judea?
Oh for some honesty, for example for the SDA to say to the Mormon:
"Well, actually I do not know much about God, and everything I do say is so inadequate as to be virtually false"
And for the Mormon to respond:
"Its funny you should say that. I do not know much about God either".
If they had an argument, the winner might be the one who proved he knew less about God than his opponent, that would be a refreshing change.

Me again, just occurs to me that unlike the old testament based JWs, these Christians are not helping folks who beliebe as they do. They are helping the needy in society, regardless of religios belief or denomination. Now that was the style of Christianity I was brought up in, both as a catholic, and a seventh day adventist. That is one of the reasons early Christianity spread so fast, because of the love and charity shown, not just within the congregations, but towards pagans too. Jesus Christ didn't restrict good deeds to believers.

This interests me, because I have been thinking of walking into the nearest church to my house, just out of interest. I happens to be an evangelical church "The Church of the Nazerene". I might just pop in to say hello. Thanks for the post.

Mind Numbing stupidity are some current JW's that are on this board.
by skyman ini have had a rash of jws on this board leaving comments in my inbox telling me how mislead i am.
but what amazes me not one of them yet will analyze the facts with me.
a real discussion means nothing to them.

Such pm's are clearly persecution against you, so that proves you are now in the truth since leaving JWs.
Crumpet, I loved your analagy of having the last word & running away with finger in ears, so apt.

needs some opinions & advices
by cookiegirlie ini've read some posts here and i could see that you were helping each other so i thought i could post & maybe get some answers :-).
i've known the jws since i was little my mom was going to the kingdom hall but then we stopped cos our life was too complicated and we didn't have time for that thought we kept studying at home with a jw as i got older ( teen years ) i hated the study book but never told my mom or anybody i didn't wanted to hurt my mom i love her so much!.
a few years ago i finally told my mom that i hated to read thoses books because i get so bored & that i wasn't interested in it , i do believe in jehovah's and jesus' existence thought but i so hate what the org ask us to do like don't dress like that , go to meetings .... first reaction i got from my mom was so you wanna die but then after a long talk she understood , no matter what i'll love her forever.

A Warm Welcome cookiegirl
You are so wise to discern that Jehovah's Witnesses are not Christians. They teach that the New Testament is not for 99.9 percent of JWs and certainly not for the rest of the world. This was a new teaching of one man, the cult leader Joseph Rutherford, Rutherford was a drunkard (something condemned in the Bible) but banned birthdays (something not condemned in the Bible)
I suggest you ask them who is their mediator? (It is the 12 old men in New York who run the organisation)
1 Timothy 2:5-6
For there is one God, and one Mediator between God and men, a man, Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a corresponding ransom for all.
See what they say. The watchtower says Jesus is not the mediator for non-anointed JWs, so ask them who is?

question for all
by bonnzo inmost of you are ex-dubs, so what if world events proved that the jw's were right.
for instance, governments turning on religion, matthew 24th chapt events really increasing at an alarming rate, enough to make you think: " maybe they were right?
" if that happened, and the wts left the "door on the ark", so to speak, open for a little while, would you go back to the wts?

for instance, governments turning on religion, matthew 24th chapt events really increasing at an alarming rate,
But what is unusual about this - its happened before & will happen again.
I just bought the Finished Mystery of 1917. It says the earthquakes mentioned in Matthew 24 symbolised revolutions, not real earthquakes. The whole Bible is full of symbolism. Most of Mat 24 was fulfilled in the generation Christ spoke to - the JW elders agreed with this last month.
Even if you want to believe what was described should be interpreted literally, wouldn't you be better off turning to Christianity, some of whom preach similar to JWs on this. Why would you return to the one anti-Christian religion which is proved 100 times over to be false?? I find it a strange question. You'd be better off an adventist or a christadelphian.
Better still, find out what Matthew 24 (and the rest of the Bible really teaches) There are some good Bible commentaries about.

First Post
by 5thGeneration insome things confuse me here.
i am in the same position as many where i don't agree with so much the society says and feel stuck dragging myself to the meetings and then feel incredible guilt because the study for the day says it is wrong to have any doubts "even in private".
impossible for me!.

A Warm Welcome 5th G,
Please stick around, you'll get used to the diversity of views. I am not a JW but friends are & I've been studying with an elder for two months - I might also pick your brains if that's okay. I admire you posting on this board. I for one do not like to blaspheme, but whose definition of blasphemy? it is not possible to blaspheme against an organisation, God doen't have one & never did. Can I ask you what you have read in your research?
Which doctrines do you strongly believe are correct, and perhaps someone here can suggest where you cal look at a different viewpoint, so you can look at all sides.
Most JW doctrines were basically introduced by Joseph Rutherford in the 1930s. Have you studied Rutherford? His errors are still being followed by a Gov Body who now know they are wrong doctrines but can't change the most important ones for fear of what it would do to unity.
It is easy to find a hundred reasons to prove the JWs are not what they claim to be, but that is a negative approach. Another approach is to explore the true meaning of scriptures, and discover what truths JWs have hidden. Please pm me if you want some evidence. You have at your disposal a good Bible, not the NWT but the kingdom interlinear. One place you might want to start is by researching the tetragrammaton, just using the kingdom interlinear. Follow up each and every one of the 237 New Testament J-references to their sources. I believe that the oldest Greek Christian manuscripts (there are 5,000) are accurate copies inspired by God, if they are not then God has not preserved his word.
I believe in God whose personal name, especially to the jews, was and is Jahweh, Jehovah, or similar. That name does not appear in the inspired Christian Greek scriptures. Please check for yourself, it took me 8 months to complete the checking. A shocking outcome for some. This is because from the time of the Messiah, it is clear that it is JESUS name we must bear witness to. Jesus never said pray to Jehovah, he said pray our Father...There are excellent guides on this research, if you pm me I'll show you how to do this research without using any apostate literature.
Please stay with us, you are very welcome.
