Well most of those things are meant to be caused directly by God in a controlled manner so as to kill specific people and protect others, so they wouldn't be natural disasters exactly.

Armageddon is usually depicted in the literature as taking all sorts of physical forms simultaneously. Floods, fire, meteorites, earthquakes, people rioting and killing each other, buildings toppling over, thunderbolts and lightning, very very frightening.

And they believe it will be selective. Those on the Prince of Peace's hit list will include all non-JWs, JWs who weren't quite zealous enough, and (if you believe an elder I once heard at a meeting) even good JWs who forgot to hand in their report that month.

DID NOAH CARRY BONES OF ADAM ON THE ARK?

there is some speculation that he did.. i think i read somewhere that adam's bones were used to divide the quarters between males and females.. were the animals segregated as well as the humans?.

i don't know.. any takers?.

There are various traditions that the bones of Adam and Eve are in the cave of Machpelah. For the remains to still be around, how could they NOT have been aboard the ark?

An Australian TV interviewer called Andrew Denton was once talking to bankrupt businessman whose name escapes me at the moment, and asked him about the private jet he gets around in despite supposedly having no money. Well the bit about God's Kingdom getting rid of those who oppress their fellowman is basically the good news that Jesus taught. The kingdom of the heavens is at hand, blessed are the meek for they shall inherit the earth, and all that. Matthew 5.

But I don't know how the JW version of that is meant to comfort "all people", when their belief is that all those people (oppressors and oppressees alike) are going to be destroyed for not being JWs!

I'm not sure I'd accuse them of oppressing anyone but themselves, but on the other hand declaring everyone except themselves to be wicked and worldly doesn't sound very meek to me.

Contradictory beliefs and faulty reasoning re. Jehovah 'blessing' the work

you will hear jws coming out with two things that are completely contradictory which they take to both prove the same thing.. 1. they have massive growth and that proves that jehovah is blessing the work they do.

2. they are not as large as the catholic church which proves that they are the 'narrow path' leading to salvation.

so, having a lot of followers and also not having a lot of followers are both proof that you are the one and true religion.. hmmn, ok ... but there is more.. think about what they believe regarding #1 above ... that growth is evidence that jehovah is blessing their work.. how does that work exactly?.

Good point about the "blessing" thing. Presumably there's going to be an awful lot of JWs destroyed at Armageddon on the grounds that they didn't really obey of their own free will but were brought in by God just to bless someone else.

I was told off twice for what I wore to Bethel....so the Hell with them!

the first time i went to australia bethel during a holiday, we pioneer boys put on our best "going out" clothes, no ties just very smart, well groomed and neat.

the sister we stayed with said: "oh no you can't wear those clothes, you have to dress in meeting clothes!

" so we did, realizing we had shamed ourselves and our god.
