When someone leaves, it's never because they don't believe it's true anymore - no, they "don't want the truth". Nice, isn't it? Makes them sound insane and irrational even before any discussion about their reasons.

Most annoying and irritating comments by JWs
by whathehadas insince i'm still suffering in this crackerjacks organization, these are some of statements that just drive me nuts.
1. in service: "we are not here to convert you" funny how jws have the true religion but resort to deception and outright lies in order to get people to listen
2. to other jws: "we won't have to deal with this in the new system" 7 billion evil doers dead and gone, no longer create problems for us

What Must an Angel Do To Repent?
by cameo-d inhas wt published literature implying that angels might repent and be forgiven?.
we all know that god does not accept a simple "i'm sorry.".
first of all, god requires two witnesses; then, an investigation asking all your friends and neighbors if the gossip is true.

God does not change his mind, as I see it.
Exodus 32?
Golden calf incident. God gets fed up with the Israelites and tells Moses he is going to destroy them all. Moses talks him out of it, "and the LORD repented of the evil which he thought to do unto his people."

Spiritism v. Spirituality
by White Dove inwhat's the difference between praying to a deity and summoning a spirit?
you want an answer both ways.
so, what makes one good and one bad?.
-
Ténébreux
I think it's spiritism when you try to get them to talk back, give you information, etc. Whereas prayer is a one-way communication.
Assuming for a minute that any of it is real, I guess the danger with trying to establish a two-way communication with a spirit is that you wouldn't know for sure who you're really talking to. If it's just a prayer, God can take care of it in his own way as he sees fit.

I wonder how long she's been out. After I decided to call it quits I went through a period where I was still defending the JWs and their beliefs, sometimes even more aggressively than when I had been in. It all seems so silly now. Give her a few years and see what she has to say then.

IF the Gibbering buddy said: "_" , would YOU--
by hamsterbait ini get so sick and tired of jws constantly questioning the source of information or the motives of the one providing it.. if satan said "2+2=4" would you then be stupid enough to say 'that cannot be true because the devil said it".
if the fds said "2+2 does not = 4" would you disagree with it??.
would you agree with it if they held a gun to your head and said "you will be killed if you dont agree??".
-
Ténébreux
No, Brother Winston, that is no use. You are lying. You still think 2+2=4.

Spirit directed
by diamondiiz init would be interesting to ask gb which doctrines do they feel were spirit directed over the years and which ones are today?
what would those bastards have to say to that?
they're directed but not perfect?
-
Ténébreux
Exactly. You must follow everything we say without question because it comes directly from God - but if it's wrong, go easy on us because we're only human. Imperfect spirit direction, gotta love it.

"We are not hear to change your religion"....why do Witnesses lie?
by Witness 007 inthe truth = yes we are!!
ive said this in the past but really why am i at the door...not to sell vaccum cleaners!
we dont "force" people to change religions.....we just force them to stay in with disfellowshiping......."we don't hate gays".......we are just waiting for them to be burnt to death at armagedon..

Standard sales technique. I used to do door-to-door sales and when someone asked "What are you selling?" the correct response was "Nothing. I'm offering a free quote." You just tell them whatever sounds good - honesty and accuracy are secondary.

What finally pushed you over the edge?
by keyser soze inwas there one issue or incident, final straw, so-to-speak, that made you leave once and for all?
i know there was for me.. i had been having doubts for years, and had stopped believing it was the truth.
but i labored on as a jw, in part because of my family, and in part because i had invested so much of myself in it.

It was about 10 years ago so I don't remember the exact incident, but one comment that really sticks out in my mind was from an elder who was reminding the congregation to hand in their reports, "...because what if the End were to come and you had forgotten to put in your field service report? Well then you wouldn't have been a preacher of the Good News that month, would you?"

Calling the Borg "Mother"
by Iwonder17 inhey all,.
i have noticed many of the elders in my hall are now calling the wtbs "mother" from the stage during their talks now.
it happens at least once per meeting.

I've never once heard anyone use this expression in Australia. In what context is it generally used? Do they just use the word "Mother" in the same way they would say "The Society"? That sounds so weird.
