Chia--wow that $20 a month pay they used to get will really relieve your financial worries if you marry a bethelite! And on top of that, no benefits or skills when you leave the big Bethel.

So I'm at the meeting tonight.............
by JV ini'm looking through the new awake magazine (great article on shoplifiting by the way) and this older sister comes and sits beside me.
she started talking to me about this great little piece in the magazine about fish or something that should be on my dinner plate, something that i don't really care about, then she turns to me and said and i quote " where else but jehovah's organization can we learn such things?
i sat there with a dumbfounded look on my face thinking " are you kidding me?

It's hard to see family members being so blinded. My sister is an active JW but she doesn't know I've turned Apostate. One day I know I won't be able to keep my mouth shut.

JWs betraying you to the elders.
by greendawn ini was once betrayed by an unknown person to the elders for buying soft porn magazines in a shop.
i never managed to figure out who it was since there were many people in the shop (news agency) at the time and i never noticed a jw from the local congo or one from other congos in the area that i knew.
to this day it's a mystery to me who saw me there and went to tell the elders.

I had no idea about all the spying and tattletelling until I came to this forum. I remember one time a couple elders being in a parked car across the street from my parents' house where I lived at the time, it was several months after I stopped going to the meetings and was dating worldly men. I was out on the front lawn with my older brother and my 2 kids were playing with Easter baskets because it was Easter. I assumed they were out in field service--one of them motioned to me with his hand and mouthed the words "call me."
LOL I used to crack up thinking about the fact that my kids were playing with Easter baskets, but now I realize they probably thought my worldly brother was my boyfriend. I never did call them, I had already been through the DF'ing thing before.

Women, is it really necessary to scream when....
by Nosferatu inlast year, i was driving and my wife was in the passenger seat.
a wasp flew in the window and landed on her.
she started screaming like she had been shot.

I try not to scream, but I think I did once when encountering a black scorpion while on vacation. I was at the sink brushing my teeth and I saw its tail under the cabinet right by my feet-----yuck!

i remember being in a meeting in wales and the speaker told us that any music with a beat behind it could cause us to fall into a trance like state, so should be avoided.
LMAO Hee Hee Those idiots! Wow I must be in a trance ever since I quit the JWs. I love all kinds of music. Please tell me what music does not have any kind of beat? Even the jazz music I like has a beat to it, gimme a break!
You know sometimes I feel so embarrassed that I used to believe the BS fed from the platform and literature.

Society corrupts "AGAPE"
by Amazing1914 inperhaps one of the most ludicrous and insidious sins of the watchtower corporation is how they twisted and corrupted the greek word agape' to mean something that it does not mean.
if you ask jws what agape means, they will respond with some rubbish about 'principled' love, then go on to discuss showing love by being at meetings, out in field service, or by shunning some ex-jw.
an example of their agape styled love can be found in only one use of it in 1999:

It's just another example that shows the JW's are not true Christians nor do they follow Christ's example.

Jehovah's Witnesses code of dress.
by onlyme in.
could anyone confirm or deny if the sisters code of dress still prohibits the wearing of trousers?.

As far as I know in the United States, 'sisters' are not to wear any form of pants to meetings or out in service, not even split-skirts are allowed. Sleeveless tops or dresses are discouraged, some places strongly encourage pantyhose to be worn even in summer months. I am not sure about other countries, as I once met a JW from Ireland who informed me that she wore pants and even jeans out in service--which really surprised me at the time.

It's funny how much time they spend on unimportant trivia like the exact date Adam and Eve were created or when Eve sinned. But important issues like admitting inconsistencies in their doctrines are ignored.

by PaulJ ini disassociated myself just over 2 years ago.
i grew up in the truth so now i feel a bit lonely and out on a limb with no friends.... feels so strange cos i had so many mates in the truth.
i still believe what jws believe and im not seeking an alternative religion or anything like that.

Welcome PaulJ. Whatever your future decisions will be, you may consider spending some time researching the history of the WBTS and why so many people are leaving it. Then you can make an informed decision as to whether or not you wish to have future involvement with that organization.

Welcome! I have only been on the forum a couple of months. Your English is better than some people who post! LOL We look forward to hearing why you left the JWs.
