panickattack--just wanted to wish you and your wife well. It takes a while to overcome all the brain-washing, and it can feel quite devastating to have your belief system pulled out from under you. You might consider going to a therapist who specializes in people coming out of cults.

Another topic on lieing....

the thing is he tells me all men lie and basically saying...like him.
(also i will never find a man that won't lie).

I am on my third husband, and let me tell you all 3 are major liars. But I am honest with myself, I have chosen to be with 3 dysfunctional men because I have co-dependency issues. But lieing majorly gets on my nerves because I am a pretty up-front and open person, and I'm pissed off that I am married to another liar.
This husband doesn't lie because he has drug and alcohol issues like my first 2 spouses--he lies for other reasons, like covering up his addiction to pornography. I can't promise this marriage will work out any better than my first 2, because basically I absolutely hate it when people lie to my face--it pisses me off worse than what they are trying to cover up.

You know I agree with the fact that bad things happen in all religions and organizations. But what makes the WS evil is the fact that their covering up of sexual abuse and other abuse, sweeping it under the carpet and letting those type of people continue to be elders and hold other positions that have regular dealings with children and other potential VICTIMS. And treating the VICTIMS as if they did something wrong by wanting to prosecute CRIMINALS who also happen to be professing JWs.

Why do some here refer to themselves as "Apostates"?
by Netty inthe only real definition of apostate i ever had was from being raised a witness.
so, i have this idea that it is an evil, wicked thing.
because of that i dont like to call myself an apostate.

"When I was a dub and when I first exited the term "apostate" struck fear in my heart. They were the damned. I think I enjoy referring to myself as one now because it shows how far I have come from that time in my life. Their words no longer have any power over me." I agree with that. I do rather enjoy calling myself an apostate just because I know what type of images the JWs have of them, and I know I'm a way more normal thinker than any JW.

Lou--my thoughts are with you, I'm sorry you have to go through this with your family and so-called friends. They are so blinded by that cult, you should feel pity for them.

marriage in the new system

I always had a hard time with the beliefs surrounding the 'new system' and the resurrection. It didn't make sense to me that some would be able to stay married on earth and millions of other people couldn't because of the resurrection. God created us to live on this earth with our human and sexual desires--either all mankind on earth are human or no one will have human sexual desires. I'm sure the Bible was referring to people that were resurrected to heaven.

Homosexuality What the Bible Really Says...
by EvilForce into all my very patient friends out there thank for your support here.

Thanks for all the info EF. As time goes on, I am changing a lot of my views toward the Bible. I enjoy reading it, and believe it has a lot of good moral value for people--as far as treating others as you would treat yourself. But I think people go overboard in reading everything as literal. I can't openly talk about this stuff with my spouse, which is annoying to me. He reads the Bible every day for an hour and is waiting for the 'antiChrist' to appear any day now and for all the Christians to be caught away in the clouds. He sees everything in the Bible as very cut and dried, very black and white, and all I see are shades of various gray tones. He is very anti-gay, but sometimes I think his homophobic feelings are due to his uncle molesting him and making him feel dirty as a child. I think because he is not gay, he has some deeprooted fear of being perceived as gay.
Anyway, I'm getting a little off the topic. But I enjoy learning other perspectives on the Bible.

Wish you luck on your move. Maybe you should ask your brother why he is always saying stuff like that to you and see what he says? Then when you move out you might know what his motives are and whether to keep in contact with him.

JW's believe Jesus to be Michael the archangel, before he came to earth. Yes they believe in angels. They believe Satan is a fallen angel.
