what are your favorite notable bible passages, why and how does it affect your life?
i have a few such as; "for if anyone thinks he is something when he is nothing he is dececiving his own mind.

I quite like Hebrews Chapter 12 because I had a lot of suffering in my life and that scripture brings me comfort...
I also like this scripture Mark chapter 7 21-23 It explains about the evil thoughts leading to actions, another problem I have....
Oh and this one cracks me up Mathew chapter 19:12 some boys can really get on my nerves I'm sure a good kick in the..... would take care of them

i love australian rock.
cruel sea, beasts of bourbon, nick cave, the church, dave graney, midnight oil, hell, even early inxs (don't change is one of the best songs ever written) and even some kiwi stuff, like split enz/crowded house.
so, for the ozzies on this board, what is it about oz that gives the music it's distinct sound.
I like the song "treaty" by the band Yothu Yindi which has a mixture of Australians and Aboriginies
A bit of music history here, what caused some of our greatest bands to surface was in the past, I think it was about the 70's there was a huge competition on for bands and Australian artists to work on writing songs that really reflects the Australian Culture, there was this huge performance held I think at the Sydney opera house not sure, with all the Australian songs, at that time Australian Artists were very much encouraged.
I have been learning about Australian artists in music.
Anyone heard of Crowded house? I think thats a band with a mixture of Australian and New Zealanders. I am performing the song "private universe"

having my daily brew today, and reading diane wilson's book - awakening of a jw.
the barista overhears a conversation i am having with a regular there and asks what 'cult' i had exited.
i told her jw and we had a nice conversation.. she tells me her husband's family was in a cult in pennsylvania called the 'temple.....' something.
Has anyone read the book "Unseen, Unheard, Unknown" ? by Sarah Hamilton byrne (I think I got the author right)
There are definatly deadly cults out there, much worse than the JW's

forget about being a witness - i never, ever understood how mainstream christian people could justify participating in a celebration that is so overtly satanic.
while i recognize the ability to dress up in non-satanic costumes, the participation aspect bothers me.
of course, now, my kids want to trick or treat, but i just can't bring myself to say "yes.
I think more the prodestants are againt All Hallows eve because they feel there are a lot of pagan origins and its devil worshipping.
However the true meaning of Halloween is not very well known, I think the meaning of All Hallows eve is, on the 1st of November it is 'All saint's day" Which is a Catholic tradition.

i know i have made comments about the benefits of jwd but i have some thoughts about this.. for the person who is having doubts and is looking for some confirmation or information jwd provides a wealth of both.
and if it isn't posted here on the board someone usually has a link to answer questions.
for those who have been hurt by the shunning policy or been abused in some way jwd offers wonderful people who understand because they have "been there" too.. for those who are recently out of the wts and are trying to build a new life there are many to encourage and support them.. even those of us who have been here and out of the wts for a long time there is encouragement and friendship.. for those who love a good debate, there is usually a willing jw to try to take them on.. there are some great sites on the internet that provide information.
Ex witness forums, and ex-cult forums are very beneficial. Just to talk to someone who has also been there done that.
Sort of like AA *alcoholics Anonymous* being in a support group, and recovering together.
To know your not alone is definatly a help.
So its forums like these that really help in the recovery progress.
