Hi im a new member!

after several attempts to log on, im finally in!

woohoo!.

well my story goes as follows, grew up a dub, in northern england, mum, dad, and the rest of us brood, dad becomes an elder sisters pioneers, and me and me brother were regular "publishers".

"Conscience" matters

so just how things does the wts call a matter of conscience and in the next breath condemn.. as far back as i can recall jws were told that certain things were conscience matters.

they they would go into some long detailed description of instances in the bible where such-and-such a practice was condemned.

they would add in stories of how things went terribly wrong when some people actually did the suspect action.

If the blood is a "matter of conscience" then why a couple years ago did I have to help get a court order in order for a toddler's life to be saved? The blood was a "life and death" matter. The parents wanted to consent, but the elders were there pressuring them NOT to. Going as far as trying to get them to sneak the child out. They were making such asses of themselves I had to have security escort them out, and then restrict visitors. The parents were thankful to have the court intervene. To me it looks as if the "conscience decisions" have to be what the elders dictate at that time.

did you ever give blood, if so, how often and how does it feel?

does it hurt?

I've given blood so many times I can't count. I've been in the medical field 13 years now. I can't stress the importance of blood donations if you can. One donation can affect several lives. Including some JW's I've witnessed taking it.The Red Cross is the best place to give. They do go out in the community and do blood drives at various places.

Especially now, blood is needed in times of diasters. It's important to drink alot of fluids and eat something at least 2 hours within going. There is usually some discomfort when they stick you. If the nurse can't get it in 2 sticks, ask for someone else. That's your right. Afterwards, eat and drink the refreshments they provide. Drink more fluids afterwards. The life you save might be a friend's!!

this got me thinking when i read ballistics topic about his internet dating.. now since i havent dated anyone for 28 years, i know its unbelieveable, cos im so young, but being married to the fella i met when i was sweet 16, i would really hate to start dating again .

anyway my question:: how would you describe yourself in a column of a newspaper or on the internet if you were looking for a date.

Frustration is high

Are there any hospices there? I know here that sometimes patient's families donate alot of equipment back to them after their loved one passes away. They may be able to help, or maybe at least have something you could borrow until you get one.

If you call and talk to a local medical supply store, they may be able to put brakes on yours, free, if you explain your circumstances.

I wish I were close enough to run your errands for you!!!!

My favorite is "Green Eggs & Ham". OOPS- wrong title!

You know mispeaches, I asked that same question about why defd is on a known apostate board that their "powers that be" warned them all against. I never got an answer. Maybe he's trying to cram in some field service hours. Would his visiting us again constitute a "return visit"?

Shame on you defd, that's cheating!!! And associating with the likes of us is grounds for real df'ing!!!

Losing My Mind

i feel like i have been slowly losing my mind since the age of 10 or so, maybe before that.

the process seems to be speeding up.

it may just be an inevitable fact of my existence.

What everyone has said is true! No matter what remember there are people here that care for you. I can honestly say I know where you're coming from. I've got some stuff going on right now. Can't sleep- mind won't shut off. Half the time I don't want to get up, or even go outside. I've got bipolar and depression. I'm also good at sabotaging myself. I don't take my meds like I should. (Nurses think we know more than the docs!!! --sometimes it's true!) It's easy to give advice--but not take it.

You said you do see a doc. Please call him if you feel out of control. If you do need to go to a mental health facility, there's no shame in that. It takes a strong and courageous person to ask for help. Even if it's to just get over a bump in the road. We ALL need help at one time or another! If the suicidal thoughts won't go away. TALK to someone, but please also talk to the professionials. There is always someone at a mental health faciity 24/7.If you were having a heart attack, you'd seek help. (I hope)

Like it was mentioned before--get outside, walk, go to the park or somewhere. Breath! Take big, cleansing breathes!! Stay away from alcohol and drugs.

It takes alot of courage to leave the JWs. Remember, "this too will pass." Relaxation tapes and visualization helps.

You are the most imoprtant person, take care of you. We are all here for you! You will get thru this!!

WAS YOUR KH HIT BY CRIME?

i read on one thread that a kh was robbed.

The KH I grew up in was broken into by an elder's son. They stole all the PA equipment!!! You know, one of those elder's that thought their kids could do no harm!!!

At christmas we used to cover all the shrubs and trees with tinsel. Once we put up battery-operated lights on everything. But that's not a crime. They weren't too happy about having christmas cards super-glued to the front and back door!!

How Can The JW's Spiritually Help Anyone...

when they aren't even sure of their own salvation?

they come to our doors telling us that we can live in paradise knowing that the wtbts tells them that even the jw's aren't assured of a place in the new system.

can you imagine how that must affect them if they stop and think about it?.

They can't even help themselves. Eventually they turn to scare tactics. What a way to "help" with someone's spirituality!

What's the possibility........?

...of the jw leadership having a large concert and festival featuring prominent jw entertainers (prince, michael jackson) and the william sisters...all proceeds to go to for the benefit of the katrina evacuees?.

many other groups and religious organizations are actively collecting funds to help in the relief effort.

many entertainers are volunteering there time in this regard.. great witnessing opportunity....large captive audience...make everyone get a tract with a ticket.... can you add to the agenda they could develop?.

If it were done thru the WBTS they would want the money to go into the "world wide work". That way they can spend in on ANYTHING they see fit.

On ABC nightly news last night they were talking about the donations from the 9/11 tradegy. The money marked for the 9/11 funds had to be specifically marked for that fund. If not it went to the general fund. There was an investigation about this not long ago.

So if all the JWs are donating to the "world wide work" they don't have to use it for the hurricane fund. BUT, if anyone is marking it specifically for the diaster fund, legally it has to go into an account set up for that. Face it, they don't want to use a lot of this money. They want to have those they helped to sign over insurance money. Plus, they will probably be setting up new mortages for the KH's. Who cares if they have homes, as long as they have a roof for 5 meeting a week. Anyone else think their priorities are screwed?
