Look around you and see the hypocrisy within the group. You think people are your friends. You can't trust them as far as you can see them. They will turn on you no matter what you say or do to show them you did nothing wrong. To top it off they are doing the exact things they preach you should not be doing. I truly don't think that God would want anyone to put their trust in a group of people who are hypocrites. Ask anyone you associate with in the group what it would take to shun you. Trust me, it won't be anything less than what they are already doing. It's just that you don't know about it because it is hushed up. I was affiliated with the group for many years and saw so much deceit but it took for me to stand back and look in the group because being in it you are blinded.

Stupid people
by tattoogrl333 inwell in an attempt to question and learn more about the bible as was suggested to me by various people, i attended church with a friend.
afterwards i spoke with the preacher, and asked him about some of the things i had learned from the jw.
he quickly disregarded what i told him and pointed out a few scriptures, i showed him more that backed up what i had been taught.

Rubin, I don't think you are wrong at all to want to learn about the Bible. As I have stated I learned alot from the witnesses from Bible studies because most of what is taught is mostly common sense, I just don't like the control and the hypocrisy that is amongst the people. I feel I am a free spirited individual and do not need someone else telling me step by step how to live my life. I surely know how to do that on my own. I truly believe the ten commandments say it all. Plain and simple don't you think?

there are good people in this world!
by cathy4school ini strongly believe that friendship should be true and honest with no conditions attached to it.
if a person is a good person and lives according to the bible then what more could there be?
where a person chooses to worship doesn't make that person evil, what is on the inside of a person is what makes them special.

Hi to Billygoat and outnfree, so glad you answered me. I do feel that there are alot of nice people in this room. It is really nice to know there are true people out there. outnfree, you are from Michigan? I am from New York, a ways from where you are. I picked the user name because I am all for higher education and was always for higher education. I guess that is why I was not very well liked in the organization because I had my own ideas on alot of different things. I was never baptized nor did I ever do service work because I felt that was infringing on others and didn't think it was right for me to push religion on anyone. Like I said before, alot of what I learned I believe because alot of it is common sense, I just don't feel that anyone has the right to control anyone else to the point of even saying no sports in school, no holidays, no birthdays, and such things that I believe The Almighty could care less about. More important is to be a good person and love God with your whole heart. After all, what else is there if we don't love the Creator for whom we owe our lives to. How did you find the Elders to be in your congregation in Michigan? I have come to the conclusion that I will not look up to any human being because all you will receive is disappointment. I only look to God for my salvation. Thanks for writing. Good luck to you.

double standard with JW"S
by cathy4school ini would like to know a simple answer to a question of mine.
why is it that the jw's preach that adultery is a sin and that they believe that it is a bad thing when most of the time they people you talk to eventually have committed the sin and are then reinstated back into the congregation.
how can a person who tries to do what is right is ostracized and treated like an outcast simply because they are not baptized and they other who is baptized commits adultery and it then welcomed back with open arms?

Thanks Jayhawk for answering my request. I read your article earlier about the beard issue and I cannot believe something so trivial would be such a big deal, although I have seen other things even less trivial than a beard being brought before the Elders. Go figure! Good luck to you and write back.

Hi Tracy and Jayhawk 1. So nice that you sent me a reply. I sure do wish to make some good friends, preferably ones who know how I feel and what it feels like to be left alone when you did nothing wrong. I was affiliated with the JW's for 25 years but was never baptized. I guess I just felt I didn't want to commit myself to something that I felt I wasn't sure about. I must tell you that I learned alot of valuable information over the years and I did meet alot of nice people whom I believe are good hearted honest people but do not realize that they have minds of their own and don't need others telling them who to talk to and what to do in the lives step by step. I do believe that God gave us individual minds and did not program us as robots so therefore, we have the power to make our own decisions and most of the time we do try and make the right decisions in our lives. It is so sad when you put your trust and faith in Elders and members just to find out they would turn on you faster than you could ever imagine. I do believe now that God is a God of love and wisdom and since He created each of us then He will give each of us the choice to do what is right or what is wrong. No one should have to tell us, especially if we are not even sure if the person is actually doing what he or she should be doing. I know how I feel about The Almighty and I love Him very much. Just look around and see the beauty that He has created for us to enjoy. Common sense would tell us to Live by His Commandments and Good Health to You. Please reply back and yes I would love to make some wholesome friends for life.

I strongly believe that friendship should be true and honest with no conditions attached to it. If a person is a good person and lives according to the Bible then what more could there be? Where a person chooses to worship doesn't make that person evil, what is on the inside of a person is what makes them special. I learned alot from going to meetings all those years and the one thing I realize I have learned from this whole experience is to not judge because that is not up to me to do nor is it up to anyone else to do. Being told that people of the world are not worth associating with is so wrong because to tell you the truth, I would trust a new acquaintance sooner than I would trust a long time friend in that group. I am not saying all are not good people in the group because I do believe alot of them are very good people but there can also be bad in every aspect of life also. All I can say is that from now on I don't look at people on the outside as being "bad" or anything of the sort, just human beings possibly trying to do what is right. There are good people in the world, as well as bad, but we should have the right to choose who we associate with, not have someone tell us whom to choose as friends.

friends to no one
by cathy4school inwhen you are in the jw's you assume you have lots of true friends who will be there for you.
wrong!
nothing could be farther from the truth then that statement.

When you are in the JW's you assume you have lots of true friends who will be there for you. Wrong! Nothing could be farther from the truth then that statement. The only reason they are your friends is because you are in the group and once you leave the group you are shunned and treated like you don't even exist. I left the group because I found out that a "friend" of mine and my husband were having an affair for a long time. When I found out, of course I went to the elders for support and was told I shouldn't gossip about the two of them. I was mortified but then realized that comment was said because they were both baptized and went out in service and I was neither of those things and meant nothing to the group. I then stopped going to meetings and ended up having no friends at all in the group. I was then marked as being "evil" and I was even told I was evil for not attending meetings. Needless to say, my "best friend" and husband are now at the meetings together and are fine upstanding people going door to door preaching how wrong adultery is and don't you know who the "evil" one is? I do believe that the JW's should practice what they preach and stop judging and condemning people just because they choose not to go to their meetings. I would appreciate any responses to my story.

Why do JW's allow adulterers and others who commit these sins and are disfellowshipped and then allowed back in to the congregation?
