  RNWT Bible only in English

  so, the english speaking jw world has got the rnwt bible.. so, 60 percent of the non-english jw world still has to to use / read their old nwt bible.. and reads in watchtowers from 2014 on bible text translated from the english rnwt to their language, and mention the changes with their own bible.. this is a very strange situation!.

  so, like g. jackson would say, the non-english jw world has to wait for some not so warm summers to keep up with the new rnwt bible.. gorby.

  If they're reading The Watchtower in a language other than English, it would be quoting from the NWT in that language, so the revision of the English version isn't relevant. The only exceptions would be for languages in which the NWT isn't available at all, and those issues of the magazines generally quote from another translation in the same language.

  if you still attend the meetings, are you willing to cling to the "old" new world translation?.

  keep using it in front of all of the rest of the cultists.

  It will raise more than an eyebrow, more like the ire of the entire BOE. These tools are bent on uniformity at the cost of individualism in all cases. They have already stated that starting with the Jan WT all articles will quote the NEW NWT, so that is the deadline. Keep using the old one after that and you are sure to suffer at least an upturned elderette's nose!

  There might be some suggestion that comments at meetings should quote the new version from January onwards. Other than that, it's unlikely to get any attention from the elders. Probably will get the disapproval of the 'elderettes' though. Which is probably a worse fate anyway.

  Cedars, in your article, you state, "it was fairly obvious that he was appealing to a sexist stereotype of women being overly concerned about how an item looks rather than what it does."

  However, it's more likely that the intended meaning is that sisters - the 'large army of women' - purportedly do the most preaching, with the implication that they use their Bibles more, and that 'sisterproofing' them is supposed to relate to durability.

  My interest in this revised NWT

  the biases of the earlier iteration of the nwt have been known and discussed from the appearance of the first appearance in 1950, and i assume the revised edition will be affected by the same prejudicial biases.

  one can cynically subscribe to the view that this is a financial bonanza and possibly a distraction from the imminent centenary of that distant significant date.. my interest will be to see how the impact of this revision evolves, particularly in the area of the wts's support material and on the impact its release will have on witnesses.

  Yes.

  No. (With the exception of the alternative conclusions to Mark and John.)

  4. Which text(s) does the revised NWT rely on (eg., Westcott-Hort; Textus Receptus; MT; variety of LXX), or had it constructed its own source from a selection from many sources (eclectic)?

  Almost certainly the same as before.

  5. How will the WTS manage the transition from the previous version to this one?

  Publications from January 2014 onwards (including magazines actually printed earlier but dated 2014) will quote from the new translation.

  6. Will any JW prefer to refer to the earlier version?

  Probably.

  If so, what will the WTS's attitude be to those who do not change over?

  Public executions for anyone keeping the old version - well... probably not. They might 'suggest' that JWs read from the new one when responding at 'meetings'.

  7. Will the over familiarity with the earlier text unnerve any?

  Maybe.

  Internet VS WTS

  ok here is another spin on the wt verses the internet argument, and this time i'm going to be pro-wt.

  i have read articles and seen graphs that show in countries that have high internet penetration, growth rates diminish.

  this is used to support the idea that the information age is killing the wt.

  Recent news about the amount of information being tracked and stored by the NSA, is an indicator that they can not only track and store your personal communications, but also use the microphone and camera on your device, at will.

  No. Whilst it's true that security officials would be able to get access to communications and position information from telecommunications companies, such as by triangulating positions from mobile phone towers, there is zero evidence that they can remotely enable the GPS, microphone or camera on the device. Even if they could (such as through a backdoor specifically co-ordinated between the security agencies and the creators of the devices), there is no reason at all why standard app creators (such as Watch Tower) would be able to circumvent the standard security options on the mobile devices to prevent uncontrolled access to such functions.

  Companies such as Watch Tower have no right at all to request information from the telcos regarding communications or location.
