Halloween as a Jehovah's Witness Kid
by Badfish inwhat was your experience like as a kid on halloween growing up in a jw family?.
i was raised in a jw family but never got baptized.. my father used to make me and my sister put old awakes and watchtower's in the trick or treaters' bags.
we would say: "i don't celebrate halloween but here's a treat for you!

Welcome Badfish --- I'm so sorry! Stupid cults but all I can say there are children who've had worse lives than missing out on the holidays if this is any help. Just be good to yourself and have that fun childhood now being the best parent possible to yourself.
Happy Halloween.

watersprout --- RIGHT ON!
Enough is never Enough. This is a fashion logo on the bottom of one designer's shoes --- can't think who it is right now, but i always think how true.

So i'm out treat or treating and I come home with a dog! WTFrick??
by watersprout inso we are out treat or treating and i notice a dog very distressed howling and shaking with fear... so i try and approach her but she starts growling at me.
carrot rings the doorbell of the house that she is hiding on and the people have never seen her before... quite a few neighbours come out and we eventually win her round... she is terrified and very disorientated.... we scoure the streets looking for her owners but to no avail... all we can gather from her behaviour is that she was most likely thrown from a car... she has not long finished whelping a litter and is clearly distressed... we end up bringing her back for the night and has not left carrot alone... she has been lying on him, licking and kissing him.
all she has wanted is to be curled up on his lap.... obviously he is her saviour!

Happy, happy, ending --- so glad she found you out there. I cannot believe how people (losers) treat animals.

The Honeymoon Stage...well kind of
by mrsjones5 ini'm keeping my distance from my parents but i keep running into my mother around town.
yesterday it was at walmart, a couple of weeks ago it was at the mall.
both times my husband was not acknowledged (basically shunned), hubby says its a weird feeling but he's ok with not having to talk to my mother.. i call my mother every couple of weeks or so and the last time i spoke to her (about two days before walmart) she said that she wished we could go shopping or go to lunch together.

OUTLAW is my favorite adult-child psychologist now! good advice and love the graphics. can you imagine a book (or calendar) by outlaw about evil mothers and the great pictures --- a best seller.
one of my friends read Bad Childhood/Great Life (Dr. Laura) and tells me the book has helped her the very most w/her toxic parents --- not without going thru the necessary pain involved to change but sounds like you're doing great. toxic mothers never want to give up their power (never --- their agenda must be met) so just fill up the hole in your heart with something else -- your mate, your children, your dog, etc., and squeeze and love them. after awhile you really don't care anymore nor ever want to be bothered w/them again and it's amazing.

An acquaintance had this surgery less than two yrs. ago (she's in her late 80's and won't reveal her exact age or her kids' ages) --- anyway, she flew thru the surgery/everything was normal and all was good. She was not down long at all.

Newbie to the Boards !
by TheOutSpoken1 inid like to introduce my self as im new......a lil nervous but ready to have some conversation that doesnt require me to rely on old men in ny to think for me.
im tired of the puppetteering, the sly green handshakes to move up, the lies turned into new light- "what happened to yes means yes?
", just has the makings of a bad ponzi scheme in my opinion...i officially begun my fade this year.....and im enjoying it.

Momma-Tossed-Me --- good idea about media exposure. How many have already lived/mooched off the taxpayers for yrs. to pioneer. heard many were doing this yrs. ago claiming mental illness/fake back injuries/etc., to receive benefits.

No part of the world
by irondork inbe no part of the world.
friendship with the world is enmity with god.. perhaps it is some lingering indoctrination talking, but i dont want to be friends with most everyone i meet out there.
granted i work in a rough-neck environment and it is mostly through my employment that i come in contact with others, but im not like them and i cant see myself hanging out in their living rooms and i don't want their filthy mouths in mine.. i dont smoke, i dont cuss, i dont talk about pussy all the time (actually, none of the time).

red21 --- RIGHT ON!!! i agree w/everything you say. i tried so hard to have minimal contact w/my lifetime/worldly friends and social friends other than w/my social life w/husband --- OMG!!! brainwashed myself, bla, bla, but could not believe the gossip, envy, conniving inside those halls. people were animals unless they wanted something. sure, there are exceptions w/those in the cliches (power families and their entourage), and there are many who remain members because of their social circle, but it was sick --- worse than the worldly people! all show business in the hall (for the most part w/bad acting) but in the world we can be selective and have an opportunity to meet genuine people. i'm not saying it's easy, but they are out there.
