as if us customs weren't unpleasant enough already ... now they will make everyone feel like a criminal.

i hope we follow the lead of brazil and do the same to all us visitors coming over here.. your country is turning into a police state.

I am with you 100 % Simon. I do hope that Britain and France will institute the same checks for Americans entering these countries.

I am mad, because I need to renew my passport, and because of this new procedure, I am supposed to obtain a "Secure" passport or whatever term they use, meaning that I have to present myself at the French Consulat, instead of doing it by mail as I have always done. For me it is an 8 or more hours trip, and I don't see how I can do that. So I have no valid passport right now...

You do not loose friends and family. Only those who have been disfellowshiped you lose.
It is for the protection of christains. Catholics and many other religons also do this but it is known as "excommunication"

Hi Razor, that shows how much you know. I won't go into the df and shunning practices of the Watch Tower Cult. Hundreds of people on this board can do it much better because they have experienced it.

But let me tell you, some Catholics may be excommunicated from time to time, I have never known any though. A Catholic will not be excommunicated for not agreeing with some rules and regulations of the faith. But most JWs are df and shunned, by friends, former associates and even close family members, because they don't agree with the mighty Watch Tower Society of Brooklyn.

And big difference between disfellowshiping and excommunicating = excommunicated catholics will not be shunned by anyone !

The best movie of all time and I almost missed it.

i had not seen any the lord of the rings movies until a few weeks ago.

i wasnt interested.

an older gentleman whom i work with told me it was the best movie of all time, basically the three movies being one.

I liked the Lord of the Rings movies. I love Harry Potter (the books more than the movies).

Speaking of movies, has anyone seen Lost in Translation ? I really enjoyed that one. And The Missing ? Not bad either.

hey guys, i'm a student at cnu and currently in a religions class.

our assignment is to research and write a 5pg paper on one topic of the religioin.

in other words not just an over-view of the whole religion.

Possible topic - Shunning in the Watch Tower Cult - if a JW decides for whatever reason that he/she doesn't want to be a JW anymore, he/she will be shunned by all her friends and even family members who are still in the cult. JWs are asked to treat these persons as if they were dead.
