  My JW mum is in hospital

  my poor mum fell over on sunday and broke her hip.

  she was taken to hospital and yesterday had an operation to place a pin in the joint.

  this was obviously a worrying time for all concerned and my dad let us all know what was going on.

  Don't try to have over the top celebrations just because you can. Start out simple, sweet and loving. If you end up being the loony birthday mom, then so be it, but simple birthday cakes and a favorite meal and a few friends is all that anyone really wants when little (at first, anyway!) You dont have to prove anything to anyone. TT your fiance and consciously start building family tradiitons-not just holiday traditions.

  Christmas-the same. Simple, sweet, meaningful if it has any to you.

  i wanted to thank the young brother who called in and shared his questions and experience.

  it was a real eye opener on many levels, but i just wanted to share this one point.

  we've joked around on jwn about the gb having no clue what's going on in the wts, but now i really know it's true.. the young brother who called six screens mentioned how he was once at a table with losch (gb), and losch turned to him and asked "so what classes are you going to take in college?

  I'm clueless on the Fearon drama, but accusing him of planting a comment is kind of harsh. Could someone give me the shortish version of what has caused the lack of trust/bad feelings toward Fearon/Six Screens?

  does anyone here have any suggestions on handling financial abuse of a senior by the watchtower bible and tract society?

  mom gave a lot of money to the watchtower bible and tract society over her lifetime- (6 figures).

  after she ran low on funds she made a 5 figure "conditional loan" to wtb&ts.

  Have faded and now crossed another JW line. What should I expect ?

  my story,which i dodn't think i ever really told on here is i faded arounf 07-09. i went from an english congregation to a spanish one.. .

  that was met by pretty strong opposition from my mother,who for a while tried to force me ( a grown man mind you ) to read the watchtower lesson with her when she would visit,the daily text over the phone when she called, or other asinine things that is expected of the rank and file.

  especially men.. the few friends who do know i have fallen away.

  I'm sorry, forgot to say-Congratulations on meeting a good lady and future wife. I hope you are very happy together. Your mom will always be difficult-just love her and respect her in the good things and try to let the rest roll off your back. She has good stuff, try to emphasize those aspects.

  As to her preaching at your wife to be, I'd suggest you tell your mom that she is very sensitive about (all) reliigon and you don't want to push anything on her which will drive her from God. Just tell your mom that if she is kind and loving, then the good qualities of her faith will be evident and make your future wife feel positive about people who call themselves JW's. That gives your mom incentive to just be nice and not pushy.

  I think if you don't want your fade to disintegrate into a DF situtation, you should have a ceremony outside of the RC church, even if a priest presides legally over the ceremony. If she/her family want a RC mass or 'religious' ceremony, do it privately, separately. I don't think that merely marrying a non-JW is a DF offence, but the church bit might be a deal breaker.

  Does anyone have a pedophile policy timeline?

  i was talking to a close relative about the case, and they brought up the fact that they thought the society had changed many of ther policies on molestation long ago.

  i am curious about the policy change that made it so molesters could not become elders anymore.

  i am sure there are many others that i am unaware of, but i think a timeline would actually show current jws how slow the organization was to act.. thanks in advance for any help..

  I think that the crux of this case (not sure) was that the WT policy defied the legal requirements for the time period that was pertinent to Candace's case. In other words, when they were required to report to the authorities, they did not. This led to him being under the legal radar and not held accountable for what he did, which would have become apparent to the congregation and placed him on an offenders list. None of the proper things were done. This led to Candace being victimized by him.

  They want to make comparisons. Taco bell? Try a school. The vice principal is found out to be a molester and he is demoted to merely a teacher and has no other repurcussions or accountability for it. Seriously, that is a more apt conmparison than than the stupid taco bell one. The WT enabled his access to further children and be "removing his privileges" they merely gave him MORE free time to hurt them!

  The law is in place so that the people who are most likely to learn of such offenses can take practical steps to keep children safe without being the judge and jury. All they had to do was notify the police and they would have actually had no further duty to Candace and if he HAD molested her then, the WT would have not been at all culpable.

  Why do only xian religions have soo many pedo problems ?

  im not trying to poke fun at any particular religion or show favouritism, but im having a hard time recalling similar repeated scandals in non xian religions.

  i cant recall hearing of pedo scandals in islam or buddism.

  yes i know that islam perpetrates many other evils like so call honour killings but buddhism seems to be rarely in the news for similar evils ?

  BA=Tabari is not a recognized hadith or anything else. A historian but not accepted as authoritative in Islam.

  I gave a recognized definiton of pedophilia, not a convenient or sensationalizing definition.

  What country sells soiled little girls panties in vending machines? Japan is Buddhist. (snopes Japan/panties/vending machine) They have an entire pedophilia supportive culture and porn representing young girls is a specialty. I don't know what that's all about, but it seems like it is not a minor phenomenon from what I read about it. The fascination is very evident in that primarily Buddhist culture. I do not know how much blame you will ascribe to Buddhism, just as I don't think that Chrisitanity/JWs/Catholics/ldS or any reliigon gives any kind of support religiously to such behavior (however I am entirely ignorant of Buddhism, so if anyone knows differently, do tell)

  Organizationally, the WT did give support in fact, even if they give lip service to hating such activity,just as other churches/religous orgs have effectually done.
