  religion knows how the watchtower society views fallen angels.. .

  they view individuals who leave the truth as weak malcontents that share no appreciation for god or spiritual matters.

  First point, what the bible condemns is a moot point. Read the old testament, it condones all sorts of murderous, vile, morally revolting behaviours, including killing children. Ironically the Watchtower also condones the murder of children so we can see what sort of morality one can construct from "the bible"....

  Having said that, the Watchtower sets up their own twisted moral universe where even masturbation, dating without a "chaperone", smoking, voting, having a x-mas tree, is considered morally reproachable behaviour.

  I seriously doubt most people leave in order to gain freedom from these absurd "moral" prohibitions (although they would be justified in doing so)....rather, they leave once the cognitive dissonance becomes so overwhelming, they can no longer deny their logic telling them that the dictates of the borganization are complete nonsense.

  when i came to this board, i thought that it was for encouragement amoung people who had been treated badly by the wtbts, i did not understand that people were going to come here and bash god, his son and the bible.

  i could understand some embitterment over religion but some of you people are down right insulting.

  not to mention the fact that i have tried to contact others on the board and have had my messages ignored.. .

  You know, I find it ironic that you blatantly insult every single person on this board (with the exception of 2 people!) whilst starting a thread about how horrible people have been treating you for daring to criticize your cherished beliefs and not responding to your PMs. The only person acting like a JW here, IS YOU.

  If you're looking for an environment that promotes "group think" where everyone will agree with you and never question you, you should return to the Kingdumb hall. Enjoy the intellectual stagnation and conformity.

  Finally, if you choose to leave this board, why dont you try doing it with some degree of class and/or dignity rather than sounding like some petulant 4 year old throwing a temper tantrum in the corner? Pathetic....

  There are no denominations of sects of christianity in existence today that can rightfully claim they completely follow the teachings of Christ. There is blatant

  hypocrisy in ALL organized christianity. While the JWs certainly have some appalling cultish traits with strong corporate overtones, they are no less

  "christian" then modern day pentecostals, evangelicals, seventh day adventists, mormons, etc etc. In addition, there are no hard and fast "criteria" for

  identifying a "true" christian organization as this was certainly never spelled out in the NT.

  Patti Smyths mom was a JW.....wow.....that is extremely shocking. As for "Prince", I think there should be a question mark now. He had a nasty divorce and his superbowl performance almost seemed like a swipe at the WTS. I wonder if he's really still in.

  i was in the org for 20 years and never actually read the bible from beginning to end.

  then i bought a living bible and found even the most difficult parts easy to read.

  but i still couldnt find time.

  I have all the early Bunnymen albums on vinyl, along with my Bauhaus, Joy Division, P.I.L., Cure, Siouxee and the Banshees, Killing Joke, Jesus & Mary Chain, etc etc collections.....

  But their greatest hits CD, its an excellent retrospective.

  Probably not. But I probably would have been at some of those wild "wine, bread and fish" parties I read about. I hear they were the "keggers" of the holy land!

  What always strikes me about CT Russell in both his literature and personal correspondence is what a complete wind-bag the man was.....he just is incapable of brevity or concise communication. By the time you have finished one of his sentences you have no idea what the man just said.

  Reading a sentence of Russell is akin to walking to the edge of a cliff.

  so its no surprise to most of the people here, but i stretch my earlobes.. and i just reached sort of a big milestone, for me i guess.. i made it to an inch.. that's 25 mm, for you crazy not americans stuck on the metric system.. and considering the original hole was exactly 1 mm in diameter, i just think its cool i increased the size by 25 times.. now if only i could stretch my bank account.. .

  So what happens when you're 55 years old and you realize that you don't want that look anymore? Can you un-stretch them?

  No way. The only option would be cutting off the hanging skin and trying to re-section the remaining ends into some sort of lobe, but it would be a very expensive and complex plastic surgical procedure, with lots of scarring.
