These are ice breakers, not really a serious introduction into telling them about your goiter that you had cut out.
I tend to focus on colonoscopies and my polyps. It's a great way of getting people to move along quickly.

it's been a whole year or more since last stepping foot in a kingdom hall.
your going to this meeting probably means that you're going to be with family members who are jw, but understand to some degree your reluctance to come to the hall anymore or have resolved themselves to losing you to armageddon.

Awwww...people miss me
by Coffee House Girl inso my mom tells me that my jw niece (whom i have known all my life but has made zero attempts to contact me after i left jdubland) told my mom that she misses me,.
she was invited to a "get together" at a married jw's house and i always went with her to those things before because she is single (because of the narrow field of good jw brothers who want a 30something pioneer who lives with her parents), and i was "spiritually single" (because i had no scriptural grant for divorce because of adultery-he skipped town).
but now she had to go alone and she didn't want to (but she figured she had to go, otherwise people would stop inviting her to do things), and big suprise from a jw "get together"...she didn't have a good time.. aaarg how depressing for her... i had to respond to my mom, so i said:.

Every time I was sick my ex would come home from the meeting and tell me about all the people who "missed" me. Usually these were people who never even said "hello" to me.

'necessary family business'...just what is it?

the child later gets married, is inviting the parent seen as ''necessary family business''?.

A JW parent helping a DF'd child is not "necessary family business." The DF'd child has left the "spirit directed organization", and is reaping what he has sown. He deserves to suffer, and JWs view his suffering with happy hearts, gossiping about it whenever possible.
The only "necessary family business" is that which benefits the JW.

by LostGeneration inthis is one of the most aggressive watchtowers i think i have ever read.. four study articles on not "following the crowd" not following unrealities(page 13) not following false teachers, meaning apostates of course(p 15).
avoiding false teachers means "refusing to read their literature, watch tv programs that feature them, examine their web sites, or add comments to their blogs.
(para 7, pg 16).

my dirty fantasies
by varian inwhen i was a single jw, well, lets say around about my early 20ies, i used to to let my mind flow a bit during the kh meetings.. welll, anyway, i used to observe some of the "older" sisters around their late 30ies or 40ies in their stockings and high heels.
it really turned me on, i must admit.
i couldn t concentrate much of the programme due to this.

What kind of God are you looking for?
I want one that provides tangible rewards for worship rendered. Such rewards include, but are not limited to:
- A self cleaning house.
- One million dollars on my dining room table in cash every year. I'm not greedy. It's understood that the money is tax free, of course.
- A few hot women whenever I'm in the mood. Their vocal cords should respond to my TV remote "mute" button.
