It looks like I will become an elder this week!
by outofthebox inthat's right guys.
as i told you before, they boe have been considering me for the eldership.
which i don't care for, but since my family is stuck in this cult, i guess i can use the new position to help them see that the holy spirit has nothing to do with me being an elder.

Are Jehovah's Witnesses a cult? (No Exit)
by sacolton inthere is simply no proper or honorable way to leave the cult.
period.
to leave is to fail, to die, to be defeated by evil.

I have to agree with Burger Time.
Though its hard to be impartial, having been ousted from the JWs, dfd, silenced and banished from my entire family and denied friendship with lifelong friends, I have come to the conclusion that the JWs are no more a cult than the next religion.
I have interviewed so many people since my departure from the witnesses and read a few books and watched a few PBS documentaries on religion and the history of religion.
In order for a religion to maintain itself as a group there has to be some control in place and rules and regulations and consequences for breaking those rules and regulations. Otherwise the faithful would be off on their own slipping into sin and forgiving themselves easily afterwards. (Isnt it so true how easy it is to forgive ourselves??? Ha!)
And there has to be someone in charge of the religion. And the person in charge of a religion always seems to begin to act the same way. It is the rare human in charge of the spirituality of others to remain humble and modest. Religions begin to evolve into a business and the faithful become unpaid (or paying) employees.
Anyway, the Catholics used to be really really mean if you left their church or spoke out against it.
Ever heard of the INQUISITION?
The early Puritans were VERY STRICT. Americans today would be very surprised to meet their ancestors who pioneered this country. Very religious people can be rigid and strict and intolerant.
And in the American South, "dont be dissin'" the Southern Baptist church or its minister or his daughter
either! They got ways to get back at you or your relatives. You have no idea boy what a heap o'trouble
you hath wrought upon yo-sef!
Communities of religious people all over the world know how to make your life MISERABLE if you dare to leave their group.
They are just mad cause they have to stay and clean the bathrooms and vacuum and tithe and you got out of it!! -

Question: Is Satan The "Ruler Of This World"?
by Observer17 inin the book of john alone, jesus three (3) times referred to satan as the "ruler of this world.
" -- see john 12:31; john 14:30; john 16:11.. my first question on this topic for this discussion board is: .
(1) do you believe this to be true?
-

I too have thought about what Jesus said.
In all seriousness I believe there is a very evil influence in the world bent on ruining all flesh and the earth too.
You see it everywhere. That is why Jesus said this evil was the ruler of the world.
But the evil doesnt have to be YOUR ruler. Your ruler can be God the All Wise and Loving Creator.
I think that is why Jesus added in the daily Lords prayer to be delivered from evil.
It is easy if we are not on guard to fall into evil. If we are not convinced of Gods existence and love and authority over us or if we are cowards in the face of evil pressure we could easily become part of the evil in the world.
That much I do believe.
When the full moon fills the night sky Friday evening, think about the moons faithfulness and who put it there for us as a reminder.
That same faithfulness will not allow the earth to become ruined and dead.
I have returned to view God's coming as a blessing for the earth and all the creatures both human and animal who abide by his laws. -

Courting couples in the JW having sex together before marriage?
by chikikie ini left about 8 years ago, at the grand old age of 24, basically being an unmarried mum of 1 (baptised when my girl was 11months old) and the 'tipping point for me' when elder sisters tried to set me up for marriage to a 64year old elder, as that would be the only man willing to marry a girl such as myself.
i ran away, i moved 300miles away.
there should be a witness pretection programme ;).

You seem like a good person Chikikie.
I think you were mistaken to believe that sister who said you would only be attractive to
an older witness man. Men see a young woman who is caring for her child in a sweet and mature motherly way and they see a good woman!
Not all young men are so shallow and unforgiving.
Take care,

Do U Look Down On People Who Remain As JWs ..1's u think should no better?
by minimus indo you find yourself looking down on people who you think should know better but still hang on to the religion?
-
anewme
No, I am happy for them because they are still living the dream of paradise earth and feel full assurance of Gods love and hope for the earth.
In the eight years out I have found nothing better to offer them.
I have left the org and tried to like the world of mankind and have tried to hope that man will
unite to save the world
but at this writing I am very discouraged about the future and miss having a hope, true or not. -

Latest Watchtower Magazine Increases Odds of Surviving Armageddon!
by TooBad TooSad in99% of all jw's believe and are taught that to survive armageddon that you must be a jw or as a minimum be.
associated with the jw's.
however the april 1 "public" issue of the watchtower has some interesting wording.

There is no change in their true belief that most of us will be put to death by Almighty God but they who attend the Kingdom Hall and report Field Service hours will be spared. It is true, they are just watering their beliefs down for the public magazine issue so it is more palatable for those newly interested.

How do you deal with co-workers?
by anewme inas a witness i only worked with other witnesses for 35 years.
now thrust out into the real world i find myself unprepared .
for many of the confrontations i am experiencing with fellow .

Get the picture: I am 54 years old, a former elder's wife for 20 years who left the org after 33 years. From 17 on I served the borg, no college, no degrees, pioneered, and then got the boot out into the world.......no family, no friends, no children, no job, no money, no home, and no more youth.
Now I am working my third low wage job since leaving the org. I am working with 20 year olds who use the f word without shame. Who talk about getting even with people. I dont try and be holier than thou.
But I cant say the f word. And I dont believe in revenge. I believe in peace and trying to be peaceable with all men and women. I work hard at finding common ground and establishing good communication with everyone. I want a happy relationship with everyone and I work hard to achieve it.
I actually believe through social negotiations it is possible to live in peace with all people.
But some people take a greater deal of effort to achieve a good relationship with.
It is true, that at 54 I am an oddity on my sales floor. Why is a woman having to work six days a week for a small wage? The young girls would be appalled to think at 54 they will still be serving the public in this capacity. They dream of big houses and cars and rich husbands and owning their own businesses.
I need to develop a thicker skin............or find a chill pill. -

i hate the feeling that I'm constantly being controlled...
by cognac inevery freaken thing i do is under a constant microscope... i feel like i'm constantly being judged and questioned and interrogated or "encouraged" to live my entire freaken life in a way that i don't want to.
i can't even have an opinion they don't like.
i feel like i'm suffocating and can't breath sometimes... why the hell can't i just simply live a peaceful life???

Cognac, I felt the very same way!!! Suffocated!!! And BORED OUT OF MY SKULL!!!!!! AHHHHHH!!!!!!!

Pioneer Spit, you are sooooo right!!!
I need to practice that........."WHATEVER!"
I need to practice shrugging off the grouchy remarks of others.
I usually have been able to, but right now I am very sensitive
to them.
I do believe much of the problems between people are a failure
to communicate well and a failure to show fellow feeling.
Abuse just keeps going round and round until someone says STOP!
