personally speaking, i admire the courage and strength of character You Know has displayed here. he has gone head to head and toe to toe with adversaries of the truth. i respect that.
i wonder if all the fat was boiled off of the dialogue on this board, and principles were placed before personalities, what the net content would amount to...
admittedly, i am DF'd and not associating with the congregation any longer, and perhaps i am scanning for "chinks in the armor" of the organization, which many are very quick to point out, but i see or hear no message of hope here. i see, smell, hear, and taste a lot of toxic waste. i do hear a lot of complaining and whining and bitterness and anger directed towards an organization that the same posters were once part of. i don't know, but i'm just not ready to throw rocks at a house that i chose to live in for almost 40 years, but have since moved out of.
You Know.....do not tire out or give up in your battle with the enemies of jehovah. someone has to have the courage to stay here and do battle with satan, his demons, and these apostate bastards. i admire and respect you. i don't know if i'll ever make it back. or if i even choose to return, but i know one thing....YOU are a fighter for the truth. and for that, i honor you.

many of us exiting the wts were limited and restricted regarding our free time/vacation activities.most activities didn't meet with wts approval for various 'reasons'.

praise the lord, no DC this summer, no quick builds, no hour quotas, no sheparding calls, no 8:30 am CBS with an obnoxious conductor that i, or the group couldn't stomach, followed by two hours of grueling door to door....sigh......life is good in the "now"...
maybe i won't live forever on paradise on earth, so i better not miss the "now" moments of the 70 or eighty, if i'm mighty,(or lucky) years that i have here..LOL life is good today....

nobody on your JC really gives a "rat's ass" as we say here in the south, about you or your case.. it's done and over. the appeals bros. very rarely overturn an original committee's decision. hey, these guys play golf together,give public talks in each others congos, and work on circuit and district level projects together!! do you think the appeals bros. would risk the political implications of upsetting the apple cart??? i can show you my DF appeal letter, which articulated in detail the mishandling of my case by some inept bozo elders (excuse me, i mean loving humble servants of the true god, jehovah)that thought they were upholding justice and keeping the congo clean by DFing me, after a confession on my part..... my writing of the letter was an 'exercise in futility'...
sorry, man....i feel for ya. but, it is what it is. and that's what it is...now, do me, and yourself a favor.....get on with your life. let it go... you can always go back if you want to, but take a little time to recover from the drama and the trauma of the whole damn thing.

i'm not talking about the point where we developed doubts about the borg, but just the shear weight of responsibility on your shoulders to uphold "god's kingdom" ala wts.. the topic of doing all you can was brought up frequently.
some would try to sooth by saying "as long as you're doing your best, jehovah will accept you.
and, oh, the pressure that we used to put on our kids for being exemplary...especially if i was coming up for reappointent after a move..
remember one CO nixed my reappointment recommendation, because he observed that my youngest son was not particiapting in the singing of kingdom songs at meetings....where the hell is that qualification in timothy or titus????
it was all about "looking good" especially during COs visits...
well, i now have an ex-wife and a son still in, and i'm out and so is the son that wouldn't sing... he now sings in his own band, and is on his way to the top.. i love him and we are very close....love the other son, too.
after reading thirdson's post on sin and mercy... the watchtower way, i was wondering how a disfellowshipped person is able to prove to the elders that they are repentant.
considering that it's not a biblical command to confess out sins to elders, nor to have to prove to them we are repentant, but rather it's a command of the wbts to it's followers, i was appauled to read the following in the flock "book of rules" written by the wbts for the elders to follow.. .

the thing that we used to look at was meeting attendance mostly....
i have to laugh when i think about one fellow elder that used to discretely roam the KH during the watchtower study to see if any attending DF ones had underlined their WT...that way you KNEW that they were really studying and therefore, showing repentance...
funny, when i was trying to get reinstated for 18 months, i actually HIGHLITED in FLORESCENT hiliters my lesson...didn't do a damn bit of good, LOL they made me wait to TEACH me patience and humility..LOL
seems that some self righteous, sadistic, holier than thou elders love to see DFd ones crawl back on their hands and knees....i had the chairman of my JC actually stuff my reinstatement request letter into his briefcase for three weeks before he even showed it to the other bros on the committee..
bottom line is: you really have no idea whether the person is repentant or not..guess you just have to "let the holy spirit move you" in these matters if you're on the JC handling a reinstatement plea..
