Smily be very careful. I was in your situation and ended up doing the I love him and trust him so I will study with the witnesses route. I married my husband and things are ok now but I almost committed suicide. It worked out ok but it was a very very very bad decision. I became a Christian elsewhere and my husband no longer attends but I will always have to live with the fact that he may go back. I also know he will not care what it does to me. I love my husband very much but the whole situation destroyed my trust in pretty much everyone. I will never mentally be what I was.

Wow, and that is why I am not a JW. When I take part in witnessing work, it is to let people know how wonderful God's kingdom will be and that they will be resurrected in a wonderful place. Russell would be so sad to see what has happen to his wonderful message of Salvation of All.

I find that using one simple test reveals much about people. Do they follow the rules they are trying to get others to follow? You would be shocked how much that weeds out of life.

Do JW's really care if the literature they leave ends up in the garbage can
by JH injust like junk mail, i'm sure that jw literature, tracts or magazines ends up in the garbage can just as fast as any junk mail.
most witnesses must know this, but still they look at how many hours and placements they will add to their report.
what people do with the literature, most jw's know.. i recieved my tract yesterday, and it went in the garbage can in no time.. in a way, they create polution, knowing that most of their literature will end up in the trash..

Would you bail your JW family out of a financial bind?
by unbeliever ini am so upset with my mother.
she took a huge mortgage out on her house which was completely paid for.
her elder husband wanted to expand his business.

My husband and I already have. It was not a large sum of money for us since we both work and our financial secure at this point. I would also emphasis that grown children living in the house should be paying rent. Christian are suppose to be self sufficient

My journey so far, thoughts?

for years i was satisfied with reading your stories and commenting occasionally, all the while telling myself that i was still a dub and would never change.
at the beginning, i was really just curious and also wandering if people out there grew up like i did (in an orwellian hell), and had experienced what i had experienced.

A general therapist can help you. They are there to help you get from an unhealthy point to a healthy point. I had only studied with Witnesses for a year but I had a complete melt down. I was diagnosed with MDD with Post Traumatic Stress factors. I went to a regular therapist. He helped me tremedously. They are there to help you figure out why you have the response that you do. I found out two things about myself, I am a natural pleaser and have very high empathy levels. These characteristics created a toxic reaction with the JW doctrine. Therapy saved me.

Changes at NY Bethel
by architect inlast dec 2005, the ny bethel gave talks indicating that they had to downsize (word is mine) due to "improved technology" and that as a result of this simplification some bethel family members would be invited to serve in the united states field in various assignments at various congregations where the excellent training they have recieved at bethel could be put to use and contribute much to the preaching and disciple making work.. what do you make of this?.
i wonder how they would determine who stays or goes?.
are there any former bethel members out there who can comment on rather this would be an easy transistion for those who have to leave?.

If they actually cared about their flock. They would have said that there was less of a need at Bethel and they were excepting volunteers to go out in the field or to go home. They would have slowly depleted their staff. Since they don't care they just sent out pink slips like any cold corporation.

Did You Ever "Tell Off" An Elder or Circuit Overseer?
by minimus ini know of very few that would "dare" tell off a co but elders were different.
having been an elder for many years, it was very easy to go back and forth with a fellow elder and basically tell him he was dumb.

Yes, when an Elder came to my door to tell me he would recommend that a sister return to her husband if he was abusing her. I gave him what for. Never went to a meeting again.
