American Rantings About World Cup Soccer (Football)

i try ... i really try to watch football (soccer) ... it's world cup time ... i really do try.. i just don't get it ... i really don't.. yes, it's a world-wide sport.

in most countries it is the number 1 or number 2 sport ... no doubt about it.

it's maybe number 5 in the usa for professional sports.. from an american's perspective (i think i speak for many), we just wonder if these guys actually have testicles.

I am an American woman and I use to not "get" soccer either. Now I love it! It is something you kind of have to get into, I guess.

Unbiased sources for research

can anyone point me in the direction of unbiased (or outside) sources for research.

i'm particularly interested in anything showing the teachings or russell and rutherford and proof of what the wts society was teaching in 1919?.

i don't want to direct my friend to an apostate site..

The best research is using the Society's own literature.

Any website out there that has the information you want (that is not JW.org) will be considered apostate by the Witnesses.

I always liked this one. It has been shut down by the organization and then put back up by somebody else multiple times.

Another Higher Education Faux Pas

at a recent special assembly day in casa grande, there was a talk about youths and the choices in life that are set before them.. .

during the talk, there was an interview of three people - two young girls (ages 13-16?

) and an older brother (age 969?).

For once, I would love to hear about a young JW being interviewed at a convention and say, "My plan for after high school to is to use the scholarship I earned to go to college to be become a doctor."

No Blood windshield stickers

i just walked back from getting my mail and happen to walk right by an automobile that belongs to the jw's who live in the end of my building.

the sticker in the low left of the windshield caught my attention so i stopped to read it.

it was a sticker that said......advanced medical directive.....no blood!

I have no Real Friends!

i have come to a startling and sad realisation!.

i have no real friends!.

i have always been extremely active in every aspect of the org, since childhood.

I'm sorry, Stuckinarut! The saddest part of being in the org is that ALL of the relationships are conditional.

It goes beyond that. When you are in the borg, your friends are automatically chosen for you. Sure, you may grow closer to some more than others, but your choices are limited to the people within those 4 walls inside of the Kingdom Hall.

When you are a kid in a very small congregation, it is especially difficult. You may have absoutely nothing in common with any of these "friends". You are thrown together and labeled as friends only because of circumstance that you happen to be in the same religion and in the same congregation.

There is nothing REAL about those friendships at all. It is sad.

The good news is that when you leave, YOU get to choose who you want to be friends with, and who you don't.

The youngest I have ever seen is 6 years old.

Holy cow! That is ridiculous! I was baptized when I was 10, and I thought THAT was young!

I am still on speaking terms with family about everythinge except JW things. About a month ago, my 14 year old neice got baptized. They didn't tell me. I found out by seeing her baptismal pictures on Instagram. My heart sank when I saw them. She is so young. She has no idea what she has done, and what consequences her baptism will bring later on.
