It's sort of like giving an attitude to a policeman. Even if you haven't done anything else wrong, he will find something to nail you on just for daring to challenge his authority.

Can a person get Disfellowshipped for cursing out the elders?
by booker-t ini remember years ago a my cousin was being "harrassed" by the elders in her hall about not going out in field service, being "wild" etc; my cousin was only 20 years old at the time and i think she just wanted to have some fun in her youth.
my aunt who has been a jw's for over 40 years was extremely strict on my young cousin.
i think my cousin just could not take it anymore so when the elders called her in for a committe meeting for the upteen time my cousin told me she just snapped and cursed all four of the elders out.

What's the most controversial thing you ever did in Kingdom Hall?
by JH ini remember scanning real money and with photoshop pasting the picture of an elder on the bill over the face of the queen.
then i printed many bills.
it looked very real.

I wish I could say it was me, but one of my friends got right down on the floor and started doing the worm. You know, the breakdancing move where you flop like a worm on the floor. It was one of the funniest things I have ever seen.
The worst thing I ever did was to decorate peoples cars with my choice of bumperstickers while they were inside during the meeting.

Is Discussing Jehovah's Witnesses Therapeutic For You???
by minimus init is for me.
i find that when i tell a person exactly how witnesses think and why they believe in things the certain way they do, it feels good!
listening to myself express the craziness of the religion makes me abhor their practices and mind control.

I definitely find it therapeutic. For me, coming to this site made me realize that I wasn't a freak for not fitting in with the congregation; that there were others who have been through similar experiences, and that was very healing.

Haunted Hall
by Virgogirl inwas it just me, or did anyone else experience unsettling, wierd vibes inside a kingdom hall?
it used to creep me out, it felt almost eerie and spooky inside.
sometimes we opened the doors on saturday afternoon to clean, and it was all dark and sinister inside when we entered, and it almost felt like something was in there, not good vibes, either.

rebel8 is exactly right. we were too used to attributing anything bad or scary to the demons. A cold, empty, windowless building would naturally seem bad and scary, thus reminding you of the demons.

Minimus Is Demonized
by minimus ini posted this on a different thread regarding my mother but her sister (my aunt) told her that because i left the "truth" and am living my life outside of bible principles, that the "demons" are affecting her.
she told my mom that twice last week, "the demons pushed her" and caused her to fall.
because my mother associates with me and my mom associates with her sister----therefore the "contact" is made thru my mother to her.

Yes, witnesses believe that the slightest problem (can't find my keys when it's time to go to meeting) comes from the demons. But any good thing that happens in your life is because you're serving Jehovah. Oh, but if you're not serving Jehovah and good things happen in your life, that's from the demons because they don't want you to serve Jehovah. And also, if you are serving Jehovah but you shop at yard sales, and bad things happen to you, then it's from the demons who lived in that used pair of pants.

Uh...hi...
by klinton ini was looking around the internet, trying to locate an image of god's chariot to show someone, and i found this little place here.
it's...interesting.
as far as i can tell from poking around there seems to be a mix of the faithful, the inactive, and the disfellowshiped (like myself).

Welcome to the board man, and nice to have you. You can learn a lot here. As for your question, yes somebody like me who is not df'd could definitely find himself in a committee meeting over posting at this site. Unfortunately, the witnesses are only imperfect men and women and don't really have a way to know who all of us really are. Too bad! I guess they'll have to wait on Jah.

JW's on trick or treat night
by carla inhow did your jw families appreciate people knocking on your doors on trick or treat night?
ever answer the door and tell them how pagan they were?
we had one jw house that used to be totally dark except for the porch light so we could read their sign- we are jw's and do not celebrate halloween.

We usually went out for the night and avoided the whole thing. If we were home, we definitely did the whole lights out thing.
One year was fun, though. My dad fired up his antique radio and we listened to the old War of the Worlds radio broadcast in the dark. I remember it seemed even much better than trick or treating. My dad was always cool like that.
