Yes, very worthwhile bikerchic thanks! I often feel like years have just passed me by.
"They would either have to lie about the numbers in the yearbook, " - frustratedwithfreaks
They have lied about the numbers for years anyway. When the MS's used to count the partakers, there was always discussions about whether Bro. Newlyinterested or Sis. Crazy was of the remnant. If the elders thought you were genuine you got counted.
The count to this day never seems to make sense.
And welcome,
Pete.

Worth reading, pass it on.....
by bikerchic inbe kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
as we grow up, we learn that even the one person that wasn't supposed to ever let you down probably will.
you will have your heart broken probably more than once and it's harder every time.

New Society DVD - Review
by Zico ini just got home from a wonderful evening out at a 'brother's' house.
after a good meal shared with some other brothers and sisters, you can't imagine my excitement when the host brother brought out the wonderful new society video that he'd recently received at the kingdom hall, and suggested we watch it!
now, as you can probably imagine, this was my idea of how to have fun on a saturday evening.

The Best One-liners for Witnesses
by gordon d inwhat have been the most effective reasons that you've given to the people that you love for why you're no longer a witness?
considering that most dubs have the attention span of a 2 year old for anything from an a-prostate, please be consise and succint with your answers.
just trying to plant some seeds of reasoning.... maybe in-depth discussions with those folks will come at a later time.

""I'm afraid my search for the truth led me away from the Witnesses."-dangermouse. Well put.
I spent many years working hard as one of Jehovahs Witnesses. At some point I needed to find out if what I had been taught was completely true. The inescapable answer was no.( said with a grave expression but with good humour. JW's assume you will be miserable now you're in the 'darkness'!) -

Verify - WT asking for old books for libraries, but burning them instead.
by truthseeker ini found this on e-watchman, can anyone verify this?.
http://e-jehovahs-witnesses.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=2406.
burning and disposing of old books is exactly what the society wants, so that there is no paper trial.

What planted the seed of doubt that lead you to leave or think of leaving?
by NanaR ini've been thinking of this a lot lately.
the following experience ties my first doubt in with my present life.
as a backdrop to this, you should know that i was a 5th generation "raised in the truth" jw through my mother (her great-grandfather got "the truth" from pastor russell).

That was a great account NanaR, you must have thought long and hard due to the length of time in the org.
In my case the downward spiral into clinical depression was treated as some sort of moral weakness. For someone with an inclination toward perfectionism to find that you're 'not keeping up' with field service, study and meetings was demoralizing. I drifted out because of never being good enough.
Then I found out about the UN scandal................!

Question for ex-JWs who are Christians
by whyizit ini noticed that many who post here have kind of thrown the "baby out with the bathwater", when it comes to the bible and god.. i understand that there is a fine line between love and hate.
maybe they blame god for the deception.
maybe they don't trust anything to do with god any more.

Yep, that thing wot daystar said.
As a JW I could not get a handle on this 'love' for Jehovah and Jesus. I know many that would wax lyrical about their relationship with them, yet I just didn't feel it.
Jehovah was contrary and distant to me like my step-father, present but not very interested. Jesus was a bit more real but just seemed like a really nice guy.
For me, the baby never even got as far as the bath.
