anyone who can turn their back on their flesh & blood sons and daughters, mothers and fathers fulfill this prophecy perfectly.. people who do this are utterly unloving & cruel.
it has lead thousands of people to feel issolated, alone & in many cases suicidal.
how can such a thing originate with god?.
Good point jambon. All I can say in their defence is it really does show how indoctrinated the JWs are. I and many others on this site would probably have done the same thing when we were witnesses. It is a horrible thing to do to people but we all did it, for we thought that was what God wanted.
Most witnesses are just normal human beings that got caught up in this religon. They are not stupid or retardid just very misguided.
lately i did a lot of reading regarding the un scandal, the org being a ngo for 10 years.
i tried to read both sides, the comments on jwfacts.com, as well as the defense at jehovahsjudgment.co.uk.. and then the endless discussion on topix.com between thirdwitness and alanf and others.. while i am sure, the way the org handled the whole situation, especially after the article in the guardian, was plain wrong, instead of openly confessing a mistake, it was done secretely and only after inquiry, and made it look like a cover-up.. .
however, considering the whole issue, i think it comes down to one question:.
The point is, you can't have it both ways. The WT is scathing about any other religon that has any slight contact with a political org. Therefore it must be the same itself. It should be keeping even further away if it is as it claims the true religon. They were caught and once they were, they pretended they new nothing about agreeing to the U N terms. They have proved to be hypocritical in so many other things it should surprise no one that they were the same with the U N situation

i did post my story, but basically i'm 27, married for 7 years and i was df'd in july.
i always knew i didn't want to be a jw but went along with everything because of fear.
Jen I have been lucky I was able to simply fade so I am able to speak with my son who is still a witness, but my heart goes out to you. It is a horrible situation to be in, but then it's a horrible religon. It WILL get better and of course you can speak with any of us on this forum any time you like if you are feeling a bit down. The ones who go back, go back so that they can speak with their family again, but I hope you can keep free of doing that because in the long term you are much better off out of it. Also hopefully the rest of your family will see the light and get out of it themselves. I wish you well.

I must admit I avoided them like the plague. As a JW it is totally inculcated in you that dissfellowshipped people had abandoned Jehovah and his org.

of course, it was nice to finally feel free, real free, after over 40 years of mind control.
i don't write much here but i feel this is worth sharing.. one measure i took before leaving was to take my then 15 year old son for a walk and explain to him that things would be different from the jws standpoint, but that i would always love him and that he could come to me at any time.. one thing that was very hard for me, is the fact that i separated from my wife, with which i was having problems for a long time already.
Great story Viv. It is so hard when we leave and we still have family in. I made the mistake of bombarding my son with everything I new and he is still a witness today. As Black sheep says, take it slow at your son's speed. If he sees you still as a loving, helpful father he will come round completely I am sure. The trick is for him to realize himself and check everything he is told.

Welcome to the board pineapple. There are many rules and regulations for anyone who wants to stay a witness. You're right. There are many good people among JWs. But they would never accept that you had no choice in the matter of being gay. To them it is something wicked. Just like you're wicked or weak if you do not accept everything from their rule book. If I were you I would be very thankful that you are out of this org. I wish you well.

I don't think I have ever read so much rubbish in all my life. The whole article is full of half truths.
The society are against further education. They do isolate people for disagreeing with their policies. Everything is not out in the open when you start to study. There is not freedom to do whatever you like in employment. There is constant pressure to do more in service. Over the years thousands have died by following witness mandates i e no vaccinations, no transplants, national service and all their changes in the blood doctrine. They are totally adament something is right until it is proved otherwise.
Decision making is controlled by Brooklyn not somebody local. If a congregation regularly does not send enough contributions they will not get supplied the books or mags they want. If they do not agree with the society on something they are told to wait on Jehovah. They do not tell you that you may be right. Reading some outside material is definately frowned on. Anything that goes against the leaders ideas are a big no no.
And the best one is they don't consider themselves special. This is a complete lie. They are constantly taught that salvation only comes by association with this org.
If this guy is not a witness then he simply has accepted what he has been told by them.

I sometimes post on a site called Friends United and post messages on the JW discussion page. I asked what the feeling was among UK witnesses about the 1% increase they had this year. One guy said that does not matter as it was a seperating work they do and it doesn't matter how long it takes. Mind you the society said this 1% apparantly shows Jehovah is blessing their efforts. You just cant win (sigh)

great crowd to earth.. is there something from the time where rutherford makes clear he meant.
