i just stumbled over the october issue of our kingdom ministry in norwegian.. the service report numbers are no longer printed.
why not?
and do they still print the numbers in your language?.
I believe that Norways publishers are going up on average 1% per year. Certainly nothing to write home about.
The society have stopped publishing all the figures monthly because there would be a lot of discouragement if they showed the numbers going down. Europe in general is making next to no progress these days, whereas other parts of the earth still show a small increase
i was wondering about this.. i'm doing a slow fade, i don't want to lose friends and family - but it's frustrating.
wasting time going to meetings etc when my heart and head isn't in it anymore.
it feels like a game played by everyone elses rules but mine.
There are several ways to fade. Personally I simply stopped going to the meetings and on the odd occasion the elders turned up I just gave a non commital answer. In time they just left me alone. Of course if they new I regularly post on ex JW forums they would soon disfellowship me.
It is hard having to stay under cover as it were, but if you have family in as I have, then I feel it is better not to formally disassosiate yourself

i realize that this is pretty much a non-issue, i just found it to be interesting.. as we know, the watchtower often uses a qualifier for christianity by using the term "true christians", which of course jw's know is synonymous with " jehovah's witnesses", all others would be the opposite, or "false christians".. october km, page 2 in the article "new brochure to be offered!
", introducing a november campaign to offer the brochure the bible - what is its message?, mentions in paragraphs one and three people of "non-christian religions", in a sense, isn't the watchtower acknowledging that the opposite of non-christian would be christian religions?.
i just thought this was interesting, even though it isn't meant to be understood that way..

I thought it was interesting that the UK bethel workload of printing has gone up24%
They are now doing the printing for Denmark, Portugal, Holland and Spain.
All countries with little or no growth. Those Bethel boys must get depressed knowing all their work has actually barely made any difference to the number of publishers in those countries.

i was reading crisis of conscience and i noticed a really odd pic of fred franz on page 90 (looks like he was sitting down?
) in the picture, and i knew i had seen him somewhere before (watchtower) or yearbook, and i always wondered why the organization took so many pictures of the presidents back then...if they didnt want the emphasis put on men but on the organization??
why was this?
Hi Joliette, I guess the answer is that for a long time JWs were on a learning curve. There are loads of things they don't do now that they did a few decades ago. I'm sure the legal department goes through everything now with a fine tooth comb just to make sure nothing will come back to them and bite them in the ass. It's taken them 130 years but nowdays it is only on odd occasions they say something really dumb.
i've been faded, inactive, for 6 years or more and the witnesses i know are astounded that i'm not in trouble.
they don't say it but its on their minds.
i do the things thier "brothers and sisters" don't do towards them.
I faded about 15 years ago but still see witnesses every now and then. If they ever ask how I am doing I am always very positive about my life, bearing in mind that they would love to hear mesay that you are having a terrible life. The best thing I think is that the people who care for me now are totally genuine friends and family, unlike the witnessses who were only kind and loving toward me if I agreed with their religion totally.
what was it that first got you thinking that the society was wrong in how they interpret the bible?.
for me personally, it was the way they always downgrade jesus to be an angel and are promoting the governing body in his place.. also when the society taught that jesus was abaddon/apollyon the fallen angel in revelation..
It was when we were studying the Revelation book and the society had the arrogance to apply just about everything in the book to themselves

StAnn It includes Wales, Scotland and Nothern Ireland as far as I know and is listed under Britain in the worldwide report. For years now there has been no real increase at all in Britain and that also applies to many European countriies.
