  Firstly as has already been stated Charles Russell was not around in 1919, ao immediately you would be told to get your facts right.Secondly they will say that God helps his true servants understand his will gradually so although a lot of things were wrong in 1919 the true servants were humble enough to accept change as it was revealed to them. Therefore it is only Jehovah's witnesses that have the truth as only they have the truth based on the bible and not on traditions of men. There are many ways to show the witnesses are being misled but these 5 steps are not the way to go.

  SHUNNING: How Jesus treated non-believers vs. how the WT treats them

  i have a question.

  the wt insists that its members shun those who don't believe anymore and also to avoid those who don't believe but were never associated with jw's.

  then why did jesus spend half his life speaking to the pharisees and non-christian people he met on a daily basis?

  If you were to ask a witness the first question they would simply say that the scribes and pharisees had not embraced the 'truth' therefore it was right for Jesus to talk to them. He was'n't hob nobbing with people that were once his followers and then rejected him. That would be the witlesses answer anyway.

  South Africa needs to know - Pedophilia in the JWs

  hi everyone - i ususally post and set up topics in the "friends" section of this forum - i've put this up too.. i know in the usa pedophilia has been exposed in the jw faith - it hasn't even made any kind of stir down here in s.africa - i suppose because no one really knows about it, and it hasn't been brought to the attention of the media.. my reasoning is that this is a world wide faith and such news should be world wide.

  i would like to write to our local tv stations to see if they would cover something like this?

  does anyone here have experience in doing this kind of thing - i mean i don't even know if i'm allowed too.. help would be appreciated..

  You could go to the silentlambs.com website where there are many examples of chid abuse from around the world.

  I guess you could say to the media if it is happening everywhere else it must be happening here as well.

  Obviously it would be better if you could get some local cases. You could try searching on the internet. I'm sure there are many cases in South Africa they just may have not made the news yet.

  OFFICIAL REPORT STATS WANTED FOR 2007 NOT 2006!!!

  many thanks to the kind people, blondie included, who gave me the link to the jw stats.

  however, this link is for the 2006 stats which were published in the february 1st 2007 watchtower.. as made clear in an earlier thread, i'm looking for the 2007 stats which, for the first time, will not be published in the watchtower but which will be confined to the 2008 jw yearbook and our kingdom ministry insert.. are those stats available yet??

  Hi Steve,

  I'm feeling the same frustration as you at the moment. The delay in publishing the 2007 service report seems to be because it is no longer put into the Feb 1st Watchtower. It will be published in the 2008 yearbook as it always has been. Also it will be put into the February Kingdom Misery. Having said that I would have thought that by now this imfo would be available in the states if not anywhere else. I'm also sure that the figure for the individual countries will all ready have been reported in the Kingdom Misery. So come on you people who still have access to Watchtower stats. Let's at least here how the U.S. or U. K. are doing. Hopefully it will confirm that there is little or no growth in the internet countries.

  why the change in wtbts policy with regard to how they deal with the press?.

  not so many years ago the wt took the stance that it would not deal with the press except with direct statements, no questions to be asked.

  who doesn't remember the disasterous attempted interview with ted jaracz in the panorama pedophile coverup where he arrogantly dismissed the panorama reporter and he looked a total arse!?

  I have just been watching news 24 from the BBC. They interviewed an ex witness who explained that a court recently overuled a parents wish for no blood for their baby and allowed a blood transfusion, as it was unable to make a decision for itself. She also felt that doctors should be able to overide the wishes of the patient if necessary but of course this does bring in the human rights issue. The good thing about all of this is that the borg are getting bad press and that should help keep people out of this sickening organisation.

  I got shunned by a witness who before I faded was a life long friend. Can you believe it was at my son's engagement party. She said '' I can't talk to you until you get some help from the elders.'' It was quite an eye opener to my relatives who are all non witnesses. I was able to point out to them that this is what happens if you join their religeon then decide to leave.

  How To Repel Jehovah's Witnesses at Your Door

  the doorbell rings, and it is jehovah's witlesses.

  this is not all that unusual, but in this case you have made it clear that you do not want to be called on.

  there is a no trespassing sign prominently displayed on your door, and they know you are absolutely not interested.

  A much simpler method that certainly works in England is to write a letter to the elders at the kingdom hall stating that you do not wish to be called on at your address as you are not interested in their message. They will simply lable you a goat that will perish at the big A in the near future. A note is normally put into the map of your area and the dubs are told not to call there.

  some wonder why the fds is singular in mt 24:45-47 but then is described as a "class" of more than one by the wtbts.

  our new do said this weekend at the circuit assembly that this has been done before by jehovah at isa 43:10: "you are my witnesses(plural),....my servant(singular).

  he implied that the "slave"(singular) could be a group of people using this precedent.

  Yes this is not a new point. I heard it about 20 years ago, and to be fair to the society scriptually this could be correct. However this is the only part of these verses that could be applied. The rest about Jesus finding the slave doing what he asked them is far from correct.

  i have had a bad day and thought that i eould share it with you to either cheer you up - glad i am not him.. story - my in laws are moving to a flat/appartment, and they had a load of rubbish to be moved from there by today so that the workmen can finish tommorow.they (the in laws) can not do to much as they are quite infirm.

  guess who did - in one - me!

  i said to my jw wife as i ran to her the meeting would really appreciate a hand here, she indicated that she really could not as she must get to meeting.

  This is perfectly normal in JW land. They are totally indoctranated that if they miss a meeting they are showing spiritual weekness. Years ago my wfie and I saved up and paid for some theatre tickets for something my in laws would have enjoyed on their wedding anniversary. A week later we found out they didn't go because someone asked my father in law who was an elder to do an assignment that night. Needless to say the tickets went in the bin.

  He felt he would be looked down upon if he didn't do this assignment from Jehovah! Sacred service is totally centred on the society. Family will always come second.

  Sorry to put a damper on things but much of Bedfordshire in England has the no cold calling signs. Unfortunately many people are not included in this including Meter readers, Market Researchers, Charity collectors and Religious groups i.e.Jehovah's Witnesses .
