Apostate-attack on a JW-stand in Norway (with pictures)

i was during last weekend in oslo, norway, to have an apostate meet-up.

we had the purpose of creating a new apostate association in norway.

however, guess if we didn't run into a jw-stand right next to a scientology-stand in the city centre (the text on the poster translates: "what happens to us when we die?)!.

Well done anti-Kriste, There is nothing I would like to do more than expose the borg for what they are. The trouble is for those of us who have faded if we start challenging the witlesses we would more than likely be dissfellowshipped. The reason many have simply faded instead of making a stand is because they still have family in the org. If we were formally disfellowshipped it would create a massive barrier between us and the family member still in.

So I guess it is up to people like you to expose them for what they are. Keep up the good work.

i had no doubts at all about the 'truth' untill a friend of mine in the cong' began falling away.

in trying to help him i had to ask questions and do research and that of course cracked the doors of my mind open for the first time in over thirty years.. years ago, when jwd allowed members to have signatures, i used the following quote from voltaire as mine.

i still love it.. doubt is uncomfortable, certainty is ridiculous..

Their was a question from readers in the 1989 Watchtower pages30-31 that stated that the bible holds out two hopes for humans. One to live in a paradise earth and the other to live in heaven. The article went on to say that Jesus was the mediator of only those with a heavenly hope.

In effect they are saying you cannot have a relationship with God or Jesus without them the faithful slave.

Nice one Cabasilas. There is so much imformation that is now available to people through the internet. In the past the society would simply change something and call it new light and most dubs would accept it and not even think about what they had been told previously. Now at the click of a mouse anyone can check up and see all the false things they had previously been taught. This is a brilliant site for finding out what the society try to cover up. I only wish I had found it years ago. Maybe then I wouldn't have spent so many years slaving for the society.

Did You Consider Yourself a "Good Witness"?

I'm now ashamed to say that I and a friend of mine were treated as the 'cream of the crop'. We both gave up good jobs to be regular pioneers and book study servants. Then when my friend moved away I continued to ' reach out' and was appointed the magazine servant then the literature servant and then asked to audit the accounts. I was used on assemblies as a good example of hearing the 'truth' and giving 100% to Jehovah. Thankfully it didn't last and I and my friend realized we had both been conned big time. I now do all I can to help others that look like they may make the same mistake as me.

What is the scriptural basis for restrictions?

ok heres the scenario.. mom is still a jw.

her best friend and also neighbour (jw-elders wife) has a daughter who is "courting" (unofficially) someone who has just come back into the "truth", he has gone through his usual judicial process and repented from his wicked ways and has been publicly reproved.. now what puzzles me about this?.

he is on restrictions as he is not classed as being in "good standing" within the congregation.

In Paul's 2nd letter to the Thessalonians 3:14 it says ' But if anyone is not obedient to our word through this letter, keep this one marked, stop associating with him that he may become ashamed. And yet do not be considering him as an enemy but continue admonishing him as a brother.

I don't know for sure but the society may use this verse to justify restrictions put on somebody. If so it is completely wrong reasoning as in the case that was quoted the person was repentant and had changed their ways. The scripture clearly says the marking applies to brothers who are not obedient to Paul's words. Therefor as you rightly say presumably God has forgiven him why haven't the elders. Once again the society bring in their own rules.

Ways to Die as a Witless

we all know about the blood issue.

every year, many witlesses will die because of not taking blood.

the exact numbers vary, and are augmented because of the number of witlesses that are involved in accidents or persecution while out in field circus.

Good post Wizard. Not a pleasant thing to think about but I believe witnesses are much more likely to die early for all the reasons you mention.

My in laws who were very staunch witneses both died early for the reason they didn't seek medical advice early enough. They both died of cancer but because the borg have the teaching that the big A is coming any minute there is no encouragment to have regular health checks.

My 30 year old son is making no provision for his retirement, again as he is thinking the New System will be with us by then. So if I wasn,t in a position to help him he would have a very hard retirement with no money for anything which may well end with him dying earlier than he should.

They have a lot to answer for and to think I used to be one of them.

is it true that jws teach it is ok to lie and conceal from a new study?

i remember after i had been inviting in a couple of ladys to chat a few times (but i was not a study at this point) i asked outright if me and my kids would be destroyed at armageddon , and one of them replied "yes you will if you are not a jw " i was terrified , i rang my dad and he said to tell them to piss off nxt time they come because they are a cult , how i wish i had listened , but i started a study , and i remeber an elder telling me that the other lady that used to call on me cringed when her friend said to me outright that yes you will be destroyed, and had wished she had put it differently (lied perhaps ) this elder told me that when you study you may not like everthing you learn but its like being given a meal , just because you dont like something on your plate dosnt mean you cant eat the rest of the meal !!!!!

is it in their literature to lie to studys ?

i know that a lot of jws have said they havnt heard about the michael porter and local child molester scandal when people have mentioned it on the ministery, there is no way that can be true considering the coverage it got , do you think it is announced at the hall to pretend they know nothing so they dont have to discuss it ?

To answer your original question Looloo I think it would be unfair to say that most witnesses lie outright when particular questions are asked but they most certainly conceal a lot of things from the newly interested one. They can justify this completely in their own minds saying that the person is not ready for this or that point yet. For those of us in England there was a comedy programme in the 1980s called Yes Prime Minister where one of the hilarius things we saw every week was Sir Humpfrey Appleby very cleverly evading all the important points the Prime Minister was trying to find out about. The Watchtower are absolute masters of this sort of deception.

Membership numbers

does anyone know if the jw membership is increasing or decreasing?

a local paper in my area did a large study on relegions.

one of the intresting facts pointed out that the jw have losing members for the past ten years.

As a general rule over the past few years there has been little or no increase in the more advanced countries and particularly where the internet is available, as there is now so much imfo. about what really goes on within the Watchtower organisation. This year there was a 3% increase but this is very unlikely to continue.

Anyone know the rules on JW's and Tattoo's????

i'm an inactive fader (only fading and not da'd for the sake of my family) but i still have all of my privileges and haven't done anything (that the hounders know about) that would get me df'd.

however, a fews years ago before i was baptized i got a few tattoos.

i want to get some new ones and get a some of my old ones touched up.

I don't believe it is a disfellowshipping offence but it would certainly be frowned on and I imagine any 'privileges' a witness may have would be taken away from them certainly if the tattoo showed. The tower hates anything that sets them apart from other witnesses. The one thing that never changes is the need for everyone to tow the line, in other words to not think for yourselves but follow the slave in all matters.

this is something that i feel really passionate about.

i hate being labeled an apostate by jw's.

i don't like the term and even they themselves have the definition wrong according to the bible.

Also we need to bear in mind, that these days when a witness makes their dedication vows, part of that vow is to work along with God's visable organisation. Therefore anyone who speaks out about anything that the borg teaches is in effect rebelling or going against them. So they feel they are within their rights to expel you and all that entails
