Several visitors asked me if I was the CO, visiting the weekend they happened to attend for the public talk! I'm not kidding! However, modestly, I explained the situation. I don't know if I was such a great speaker or that there were very poor speakers they were comparing me to! Anyway, this is a great question!

Governing Buzzards - Part 2 - Do they ALL believe the JW religion?
by Amazing inpart 2: do all the governing body believe the jw religion?
one would think that in a religion claiming to be god's modern day commissioned prophet that the men at the top, all current ten members would indeed believe!!!
does this mean that they would always agree everytime on every issue?

I suspect that Dan Sydlik, does not believe in the 1914 teaching, or at least, has grave reservations about it. Also, I suspect, from some of his comments, he doesn?t believe in the 2-classes of Christians, "anointed" and "other sheep." Although he has a good, general knowledge of the Bible, he often resorts to JW-doctrine so as to not "rock-the-boat" too much! He doesn?t want to loose his job. I think a statement I saw some time ago on this board sums it up: "one day, you come to realize that ?Moe, Larry, and Curly,? are running the organization."

You're being asked a "loaded" question. If you answer "yes," then they want to have a Bible study with you. If you answer "no," then they'll announce that you've DA'd yourself. This is the latest strong-arm tactic. It sounds like you handled it well! Just don?t give them anything they can use against you! Wish you the best!

I need a hug (vent)
by Billygoat inwhy is it i always end up working for companies that don't give a crap about their employees well-being?
i've been here since march as a temp; got a full-time offer in december and almost immediately the workload has increased and there is no new hires are on the horizon.
the political games in some of these departments is mind-blowing.

I'm in a similar position Billygoat! I wish work was different here in the US (it was some 15-20 years ago)! I'm about ready to loose my only contract; so I'll be out-of-work, potentially! I sympathize with you, however! U.S. workers are facing some rough-times coming up! And I suspect in the long run, we?re going to be demoted to the "poor-class!" There will be only two types of folks here in the US, rich and poor! Guess what you and I are going to be? I wish it otherwise, but it?s going to happen. Hope it turns-out otherwise, but you (and your're significant other half) might consider moving to a 3 rd -world country! I?m serious! I believe the US with be a 3 rd world country within 10 years or less! It?s coming, be prepared! Best of luck! Oh -- did the Socienty help you prepare? Oh no! All they want is MORE SERVICE, MORE MEETINGS, MORE, MORE, MORE! Anyway, you can tell I have an attitude! You probably share the same! Wish you the best! Hang in there! I'll be thinking of you folks!

What Did You Find To Be The Most Confusing Belief Of Jehovah's Witnesses?
by minimus injehovah's witnesses certainly have some unique beliefs and some are very, very confusing.

For me the strangest teaching is "the faithful slave!" Somehow all the individual anointed-only members feed themselves as a class. But because this process isn?t feasible in practice, the "slave" recognizes the "governing body" as its proxy. Finally, since most of the writing department make no claim to be "anointed," the "food" they serve isn?t really from the "slave," but because the "governing body" has appointed them, the writing department can be said to represent the "slave."

Watchtower: december 15th 2003 = 2034, Armageddon?
by Nicolas ini read the french version of this watchtower edition and it was clearly suggested that the end might be in 2034... do you have any comment about it?
-
cyberguy
They are very careful in only suggesting that it more-than-likely will occur within 120-year period beginning in 1914. Interestingly, although the Watchtower did not exactly state that it could lead up to 2034/2035 from 1914, they strongly suggested it! And I?m sure most JW?s will comment at the WT Study, that the big "A" will occur before 2035! No doubt, this is the only reason I can see as to why they discussed the 120 period of Noah.
Is this deceptive or what?
This is similar to the teachings of 1975! They rarely (maybe one booklet released at an assembly in 1969 or there about), if ever, stated specifically that something would definitely happen at some date (although this was done in the late 1900?s regarding 1925).
You?re not the only one who?s spotted this peculiar statement!

SC_Guy ? are you still in High School or did you graduate? Were you planning to go to college, you know that "evil-thing" called "higher education" by the "Witchtower?" It sounds like you?ve already figured out certain passions in your life. If you?re talented in art then "go for it!" You might be able to get a scholarship! In my last years of high school I had opportunity to apply for a number of scholarships, due to my being in the National Honor Society. However, due to the pressure from the "Witchtower," I didn?t bother to apply, although a number of my friends did go to prestigious colleges! Anyway, when it comes to education, get as much as you can! You?ll need it, especially with the "globalization" of the workforce that's now taking place!
I wish you the best! Please don?t get baptized unless it is something you want to do! Just my 2-cents! Anyway, as regards your depression, it should subside when you move out of your house and get on your own! Go to college, find a pretty girl that shares your values, wrap legs (ok, I'd better stop here... hehe), and get married! OK ? more of my 2-cents!
Wish you the best! You?ve come to the right place, because there?s a number of x-JW?s here with kids your age and can sympathize/empathize!
Take care! We welcome your "venting!" Do post here often!

Thanks GermanJW... I'm not really planning to contact his superiors! Nor will I attack him regarding his beliefs. I get a bit overly excited when something like this happens! However, I'd like to know if Watchtower actually quoted him correctly. Also, I'd like to know if he is truly free of any doubts as to the 1914 calculation. If he is, it would be rather surprising, since I'd say, many (maybe most) in writing, the "heavy's", have doubts!
Thanks for your follow-through on getting correct contact information!
