In high school I decided that I didn't belong to any particular group, so I dressed like all of them. One day I'd wear a preppy shirt with khakis, the next day jeans and a flannel shirt, the next day a classic Vinny Babarino/Chachi black tee shirt with no sleeves. I'm still like that. I feel comfortable in a polo shirt with dress slacks, or my Smashing Pumpkins ZERO shirt and black jeans.
My wife did me the favor of getting rid of all my JW clothes.

metatron,
I always click on your posts. I read Ben Bova's book a couple of years ago. Fascinating stuff.
That said, I'd still prefer to live to about 75 or 76 and call it a life.
However, to be perfectly honest, if I make it past 55 (considering the way I feel now at 29, and considering my dad's state of health at 56), everything from that point on would be gravy.

People Suck
by Bgurltryal indo people in their existance create much more greif inadvertantly that they cause happiness with purpose?
an action that can seem so small to one person or a desision made with selfish intent can have effects without the action taker or desicion maker even considering or realising it.
selfishness or self absorbation; we focus so much on us that the reprocusions of every little thing we do become inconsequential as long as we or those we care about are 'safe'.. when i was little in the car i would make up stories about people we drove past based on that split second they passed through my life.

It sounds to me that a certain party caused a problem between him/her and you/bboy for 'selfish' reasons. So you might be on the right track in attempting to recognize why this party did what he/she felt necessary.
Just remember that every individual must live with one and only one person for 100% of the time -- him or herself. In that respect selfishness really is a virtue. What people do with this recognition is based upon their own personal ethics. I for one despise lying, cheating, and stealing. So I do not lie, cheat, or steal because if I did those things, I would not be comfortable with myself, just as I am not comfortable being in the company of those who practice such things. That is what I meant by saying that a "good person" is ultimately responsible to him/herself first and foremost.

I only eat once a day, and that is 50% by choice and 50% by my schedule. It is very rare that I go more than 2 days without eating. Fasting just for some spiritual exercise? Doesn't seem natural or beneficial to me.
Now, go 4-5 days without a beer?!?

I think you worry too much. Nobody has direct control of your life and you aren't controlling anyone else's. The extent of your influence on another person is subject to that person's allowance of said influence, and vice versa. (COMF taught me that)
A "good person" is one that recognizes that the most important person in his/her life is him/herself.

Psalm 116 probably wasn't much comfort for those who in their last few milliseconds of life realized that hundreds of tons of concrete were about to crush them out of existence.
The tribute was nice, but I HATE it when such things get ruined by some stupid meaningless Bible quote.

Cath. Encyclopedia agrees with WT re 607
by Cygnus inunder the heading "babylonia".
at first nabuchodonosor ii began a small guerilla warfare against jerusalem; then, in 607 b.c., he dispatched a considerable army, and after a while began the siege in person.. can any apostate tell me what's wrong with this quote?

Lionel,
Yes, you're correct. I had a JW in a chat room today use that very quote to defend the 607 chronology, saying if I had a problem with JWs using it, then I had a problem with the Catholics as well.
Moxy,
I think the 607 reference is a typo. It should be 597. The Catholic Encyclopedia isn't infallible!
